Gearmaster in San Jose

I highly recommend Gearmaster to anyone needing service on their transmission, differential, or transfer case. I first brought my 2012 Ford Raptor in for a differential repair, and the service was 100% hassle-free—no hidden fees, just honest and straightforward work. More recently, I had my Jeep Latitude’s transfer case repaired, and once again, the experience was smooth and professional. After visiting several other shops that felt dishonest, I’m grateful to have found Aldo and his team. They did an amazing job, and most importantly, they stand behind their work. If you want reliable, honest service, this is the place to go!

Aldo and Gearmaster crew is awesome. Tranny went out on my 2019 ram dealer wanted over $13k to replace as well as perform some other needed maintenance. Gearmaster saved me nearly half that cost. Aldo is straight up and honest and turn around was quick. Highly recommend them for any work needed on your vehicle. And to top it off dealer only offered a 2yr warranty on the replacement tranny while Gearmaster gave 3yr cant beat that. Thanks again glad to have my baby back and driving smooth.

Aldo at Gearmaster is second to none. AWESOME customer service. He knows transmissions and drivetrain. He's been in the business for decades and is familiar with transmissions ranging from your typical 4 cylinder auto you'd find in a Nissan or Toyota....all the way up to 1000 hp restomod classic cars to big wheel rock crawlers. I work on my own cars and I've sent him regular transmissions as well as high horsepower transmissions. Always exceeded my expectations. He definitely knows his stuff. But what truly sets him apart is he's a cool guy. There are plenty of mechanics out there. Some know their stuff but are jerks. Others prey on people's ignorance and are scandalous. Some are nice but will break your car. Aldo is the exact opposite. He'll give you the best price, be kind, do awesome work, and get it done quickly. If you're looking at this review, then you're shopping for a transmission guy. Look no further, you've found the guy!

Aldo and his Gearmaster team are awesome. Great communication, price, and quality of work. Highly recommend. Aldo gave me a quote over the phone on Friday and told me to come in Monday morning. I dropped my truck off in the morning and it was done the same day for the price quoted. The dealership wanted to take 3 days, was tough to schedule, and was 3x the price. The shop is clean and organized. Very happy with the quality of work- my truck is back to running great.

THANK YOU to Aldo’s team for making this car even better than it already was. I wanted to upgrade my miata’s factory open differential to an OS Giken limited slip, which involved modifying the oem parts. Gearmaster was able to do this when other shops said it was too difficult, and they did it in a day and a half! It completely transformed this car for the better and they did a solid job, 2,000 miles (and counting) later no leaks or issues. Responsive, professional, and highly competent team with fair prices.

The guys at Gearmaster are really great. Total gear heads that are passionate about cars and trucks. I had them install new air lockers and gears into my front and rear axle for my jeep. They turned them around quite fast and when I had ordered the incorrect part for the, they were able to get the replacement in quickly so I could get the axles under my jeep in time for an offroad trip. I've been thrashing the axles for the last few months on rock crawling trails and they've held up great.

Excellent service and customer experience. Aldo gave recommendation on going with 4.56 gears on my 2004 Tahoe with my 33" tires. I was hesitant because the forums recommended 4.11 gears from my factory 3.73 gears. Totally happy with Aldo's recommendation. They completely rebuilt my front and rear differentials and installed the new 4.56 gears, serviced my transmission, and checked my u-joints. My Tahoe is now ready for another 150k miles! Shop is clean, waiting room is clean, and all technicians are courteous. No wonder Aldo has been in business for such a long time!
