Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Mountain View

Thank you to this specific Vavoline location for saving me $70 on every oil change by giving me such a bad experience that I learned how to change my own oil and vowed never to go back! 1. Minor issues - When performing an oil change, they stripped my drain plug and rounded it off (I bought this car new and it has exclusively had oil changes at this Vavoline location) It's a standard 15mm size. Any mechanic should be able to remove and tighten an oil drain plug without stripping it completely. Unflattering for the vavoline mechanics that I performed a better oil change on my literal first try with a 15 minute youtube video and 0 interest in cars. Will replace next time I change my oil. 2. Major issue- When performing a tire rotation, their mechanics skirt best practices like "cracking" to loosen lugnuts, or starting them by hand to avoid stripping. They used power tools exclusively, overtightened & stripped all my lug nuts, denied it, condescended me, saying I wouldn't know if they were stripped before (they were a brand new set of custom black ones from the dealer and had tires had not yet been rotated) and handed me one that they stripped too badly to be able to replace. They sent me away with one lugnut missing, advising me to "i don't know, I guess pick one up and put it on myself because it's dangerous to drive with one missing". -August 24th, 2024 Up until visiting this location I've had great experiences with Vavoline chains but this one was the most bananas interaction I've ever had, half of my reason to write a review is to remind myself that it wasn't a fever dream. Bummed out with my experience. Went for an oil change because my usual trusted mechanic is quite busy. I, got my battery tested as well. Was told my battery was fine. Two days later, it died. When I had it tested at O’Reilly auto parts while purchasing a new one, they also confirmed the battery was kaput. I paid $200 for the services I got, and wish they were a bit more careful for that price point.

Overall a good experience. Staff were super friendly and quick to service the car. Only gripe is that they didn't give back my tire valve caps when checking tire pressure. Bit odd, but it's all right.

Went for an engine oil change to discover some days later that the filter cover was leaking. The part was replaced after I went back a couple of times to the shop, but I guess a leak check should be a standard as the engine could have easily suffered some damage. Needed to buy two additional quarts and no refund was offered. Not a very professional service in my opinion.

I very much appreciate the professionalism of the staff at Valvoline. It’s rare to encounter people who take such pride in their work. The operation is highly efficient and organized, and I feel confident in the quality of the service. It’s an experience I tell others about.

Always impressed with this Valvoline station. They're very helpful and very clear in all of their recommendations. Not too pricey especially if you find a coupon. All the attendance were very kind, thank you very much!!

Went for oil change just now. Fast service, everything done in 20 mins, friendly, prices were transparent and what I expected (headlight replacement). Checked a bunch of stuff, will definitely go again.
