Great spot for brakes!

I was here on vacation and ran over something that flattened my tire. Thankfully, I was able to actually drive it to 5 speed motors. I called and they got me right in. The guy told me right away that they found the leak but it was close to wall so they weren t for sure if it could be repaired and if not, I would need a new tire. But they fixed it!! And it was very inexpensive. The driveway/parking is a tight squeeze so the guy helped me drive it in and out (since I m not from here, I was super nervous about the traffic). Anyway, I was having a very frustrating and upsetting day and these guys were awesome! Would use them again. Thank you!

Ive been coming here for years. They are very efficient and knowledgeable. They also make sure that the job is done correctly. Last time they even called me to ask me to go back because they noticed some oil where my car was parked. They wanted to make sure my car wasnt leaking. Everything turned out to be fine but that shows how much they care about what theyre doing. I recommend this place to everyone I know and they are now loyal customers too.

The team was friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous, and the prices seemed very reasonable and fair after doing an online check for each part/tire. They also helped me reset my tire pressure afterwards. Will definitely be coming back for future maintenance.

I just had both front and back brakes done on my vehicle. I first came to 5 Speed Motors on a Groupon for an oil change and tire rotation, and then I returned for a front axle. They always get me back on the road as quickly as possible. The place may look shabby and unkempt to some, look past that, youll be glad you did. 5 Speed does good work, and their prices are reasonable. Theyre trustworthy, plus Nick communicates quickly and openly. I highly recommend you give them a try.

They have always taken care of me when it comes to the brakes on my car. This time I needed a CAI installed and they gave me a very reasonable price. They had me in and out in under an hour and did not charge me anywhere near what the dealer wanted. They dont mind of you bring your own parts which is a rarity these days.

This place is the Best. Came here with a Groupon years ago for an oil change and have been coming ever since and they never try to upsale me unneeded junk. Last time i came in, they told me I needed my brakes done, and I trusted them as I was at 80,000 miles. They quoted me a rate better than any other place I could find.. They even had a better rate than anything I could find on Groupon for a brake job. They are quick and easy and no bull.

I had a mobile mechanic diagnose my car because it was immobile sitting in a parking garage. I had a major leak because a new motor was put in before I bought it. Whoever put it in did not put it in right and it was sitting heavy on everything to the point the mounts cracked and the fuel pump busted. In a nutshell I bought a fuel pump and took it to 5 speed motors...I told them exactly what wa wrong and they still demanded to do their own diagnosis..which was fine. They called me a day later and said my car was just out of gas. I told them AGAIN that there is a leak and that the motor is to heavy and busted the fuel pump open. They said ok and looked at it again. Called me back again and confirmed what I already told them twice and said that it would be to expensive to lift the motor up yet They never even gave me a quote. When I picked the car up I paid $320. The $20 was for putting gas in my car..the $300 was for a diagnosis which I told them about twice. Also when I got in my car it wouldnt start and they has to jump it and on top of that my fuses went our lol...I paid to tow it there and left with an extra problem and paid for .....I got ripped off basically. Never gonna go here again.

I like the guys here so much, the price is great, the people here are so friendly. I get replacement for my brakes and it feels so good. At the time when I want to drive away after the fixing, they noticed my left brake light is not working, they fix it within 2 minutes without charging any fee. Was referred to them by a friend. I had a screw in my tire and long term mold for like four months in my car. The first place I went to told me they had to replace tire, these guys repaired it for a fair price! They also found the real reason for the mold when other mechanics kept telling me they didn t know or don t deal with it. They were friendly, professional and organized! You don t find that often in a mechanic shop. I always pay attention to how people run their business bc I ve been a business organizer for a long time. Super super grateful for these guys!! They eliminated a lot of stress that was on my mind.

They have a fantastic team working at 5 Speed Motors! We bought a new set of 5 tires had them balanced and mounted for a very reasonable price. They also offer other automotive repair and maintenance services for the Silver Lake area.

Found these guys via Groupon,got a full synthetic oil change and got free rotation of my tires for under 50 bucks,the place is located across from King Jr high school, parking is tricky cause they are always busy with multiple cars but their service is 5 stars and they do free checkups on just about anything,these guys are the most honest people,no bs,no upsales just good advice and the cost for repairs is very affordable,just about all repairs can be done here including rebuilds and body work u highly recommend these guys for all mechanical work

I have always been the type of guy who does three quotations and checks reviews before deciding where to bring my car for services. I tried a few body shops for small things and I always felt they wanted to push me to do things that werent really necessary at the time. Sometimes, I would be concerned about possible maintenance my car needed, and after showing it to Chris or Nick, they would dismiss it! Even after liking their services, I would get other quotations just to see if they would rip me off, and their prices were always the best or very close to it. I do trust and recommend them to everyone in LA. Give them a try! :)

CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!!! Unbelievably HORRIBLE experience!!!!! Nick SOLD a car that we had already committed to buying , had the financing in place and a down payment ready to hand him. My husband had flown out to LA to help our daughter find a car and had to extend his stay due to the incompetence of Nick. He apparently was not knowledgeable enough in dealing with an out of state lender and the process of financing. The California DMV representative that I spoke to told me that he shouldve known the answers to the questions that he asked us to find out. It seemed he was too lazy and did not want to put forth any effort to sell this car. He ONLY WANTS CASH SALES! Nick is incompetent, dishonest and untrustworthy......the WORST traits for a person in the line of work he is in. I would not recommend him or this establishment to my worst enemy! It doesnt even deserve the 1 star that I HAD to rate it in order to be able to post this comment...

They even found the real problem with my A/C after Pep Boys gave me the wrong information, went and got the part needed, and installed it the same day-for 1/2 of what Pep Boys wouldve charged! These guys rock!!

I purchased the groupon deal with wheel alignment. When I first arrived, the gentleman said groupons had to be scheduled in advance. So basically Groupons are second to walk ins ok no biggie. I returned 4 days later and everything was groovy until he tried to upsell me on tires and an axle assembly but his quote was steep. The problem is that when I checked my oil a few days later, I noticed that my oil was really dark. It was as if I didnt get an oil change which by default means the filter was not changed. Ive gone to jiffy lub in the past and my oil is always clean/clear after an oil change hence oil change. I called the office and the gentleman said that its probably my transmission but I told him my transmission oil was changed a month ago so it absolutely can not be that. I will not recommend this place at all bc not only was my filter not changed but I went to another mechanic and was told that I didnt need a new axle assembly and I purchased 2 new tires for literally half the price. No thanks.

They seem to always do a good job. It s frustrating when there s more things wrong that u find out about after getting there, but I don t feel they take advantage of the customer for it. They seem like nice guys who like to fix cars lol

This place did not screw on my oil cap after the job was done and I realized this after my engine entire car started to smell like oil. Now I need to clean my engine and possibly get a new oil change for my vehicle because I am unsure how much oil came out of the engine.

Wasnt acknowledged and I stood there several mins until I finally asked for help. I needed an change as I am driving up north. They were unprofessional in the sense that they werent nice. I had an appointment and just wanted good service. I wont return.

Do not recommend. Asked if they would be able to check my Audi, I thought I was experiencing issues with low transmission fluid, and they told me to bring it in. Told me I had a broken engine mount, and a transmission issue they could not diagnose. Something didn t feel right, they mentioned that it sounds like something is banging around inside, that s your broken engine mount . No - that wasn t something I was experiencing. Took it to another shop who confirmed my engine mounts were fine, fixed my transmission fluid and reset my computer.

This is the best mechanic shop in Los Angeles Hands Down. The people who run it are extremely professional yet friendly. Whatever job needs to be done gets done with timeliness and top notch service. I honestly cannot recommend a better place to take your car.

They were honest in identifying and correcting an issue that was caused by another local body shop. The other shop is good too but they forgot to connect some wires after they completed the work. I was not misled by 5 speed nor was i over charged by them. Good on them

Twice now I have used this company and will not again. Both times they did not rotate tires which was a featurepaid for on my Groupon. . Saving them time on servicing my vehicle. Both times they tried to up sell me on new tires. I have taken my car to a few different tire places who has both confirmed there is nothing wrong with them. Since they did not do a service that had been purchased you eould thing they would wave the service fee they charged me after the service was done.

Did my brakes a week ago and was on the freeway my back brake caliper was about to fall off. Had to stop at a shop by my girlfriends house to get calipers put on right. Scratched my caliper up. Bad break services!

I was having a terrible morning my engine started over heating. I called several mechanics who were no help at all. Then I called 5 Speed Auto Repair Chris answered and was lovely on the phone said they could fit me right in (it was 1pm on a saturday) and it was no problem. As soon as i arrived they looked at the car and said it was the water pump 4hrs later it was fixed. NO DRAMA NO HASSLE. They also changed the conector on my battery as it was lose and the timming belt as it was cracked. Chris and his team are now my go to mechanics. Love them such nice guys great service amdnd top quality repairs at fair prices.

Even though I had a feeling that it was a very small mom and pop shop I had no issues with the garage and I was so relaxed and pleased with the experience of the ease of use of my Groupon as I had hoped for the best time for me to get served with my change.

They do excellent work at excellent prices and are very kind, upfront, and honest. Just read other reviews! This will definitely be my go-to place from now on.

They do a good job in changing oil and rotating tires if you buy theiur Groupon voucher. Other jobs that they recommend you to do, you should double check or seek a second opinion first before authorizing any extra work.

Found them on Groupon and came for a oil change. Not only were the workers extremely friendly and good at communicating, they finished my oil change in maybe 15-20 mins and i wish i was exaggerating when I say that I left the lot and it felt like a I was driving an entirely new car. Definitely worth it and so glad I discovered them on Groupon because I will definitely be back!!!!!

This guys are the best, good price, great and fast customer service but most important exellent job. I love when I take my car and not just one but 2 or 3 guys come and check and talk about what needs to be done.

They are okay, it seems like they are missing something though, I wish the location was in a safer place and they did more cool deals or car wraps or something.

I got new brakes and an oil change yesterday. The guys at the shop actually seem like they care about you and your car. They even inspected and tightened a few things for free. They really go above and beyond. And they are funny too! I recommend this place to everyone.

I just got my oil changed here because there was a groupon for a significant discount. I also asked them to check my breaks because what I believed was the break light was on. They men were all very nice, and took my car right away without an appointment, which I was super grateful for. However, they called to tell me that my break pads were worn down to nothing and I needed to replace all four breaks for about $500. I told them I wanted to hold off for money purposes. After I picked up the car I took it to my usual mechanic who told me that my break pads still have quite a bit of life in them, they can go until at least my next oil change. He also said that when that happens Im looking at about $200 tops. Turns out the light on my dash was actually a tire pressure light, and my break warning lights werent on at all. 5 Speed Motors was trying to overcharge me for a service I didnt even need. I highly advise getting a second opinion before working with them, or better yet, just go to Silverlake Automotive for a true honest mechanic.
