Wouldn’t help me at all. Very rude. Think I was transported to some place in Oklahoma where they don’t serve women and no one without an American car that runs on gas. So if you are white dude w a Ford truck you are good otherwise stay away.
Cover flap came loose on way home from Bishop - They had us on the road again within an hour - gave us peace of mind for the rest of our journey! Good people.
Got me out of a really tough spot near Big Pine a few days ago when everyone else in the area was either hard to get a hold of or couldn’t come for hours. His 53 years of experience really showed! Good pricing, good communication, and good results. I hope I don’t need another tow anytime soon, but if I did and I were in the area, I’d be a willing repeat customer.
We vacationed in our Camper Van at the Alabama Hills and started to hear some strange squeaking from the wheel. We dropped by Miller's and they looked at it right away. We had a nice young man blow the sand and dirt out of our brakes and rotors only to find our rear rotors were ready to be replaced. Thank you for the help!
Was passing through Lone Pine with a rental vehicle that had a passenger sliding door come off the rails and was unsafe to drive. They got me sorted the same day, much appreciated!
I do a lot of traveling. I am 75 years old and have NEVER EVER encountered anything like this place in my life. I had a tire going flat and pulled into this place to see if they could help me. The thing behind the counter started screaming at me about " anybody who votes for Kamala is a traitor ". I didn't know I were to look!! There was a pause, then I said again can you help me with my tire going flat. Again he starts in on something political (screaming). Then it finally says "I won't have anybody here to fix it for another hour or so". I had no choice, so I said I would wait. I have to say it was a little scary while waiting. Seeing the people he associated with and their coming and goings. If at all possible avoid this place like the black plague. This thing operating this place is one sick "person"?
I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews here. We were driving around to head to the Alabama Hills for a sunset hike when there was a detour on one of the main roads and Google sent us down a random dirt road that turned into a sand road and we got stuck. They came out within a half hour after hours on a holiday to tow us out and get us on our way. The charge was $200. I would definitely recommend them from this experience.
I got my car stuck in some deep sand while exploring some trails earlier this week and called Miller’s for an off-road recovery. John was straightforward with his pricing over the phone and came right over to help me out. We hooked up a rope to my car and he pulled me out of the sandbox and stayed with me until we reached the main highway. We shared a couple laughs and some stories too. John is a nice guy running an extremely valuable service for this area.
None Better
Sure helped me out when I got stuck in Death Valley. Be prepared to pay a hefty price though - cost me $1400 to get pulled out the mud
Great to see old friends reunited for a morning.
They spent an hour checking our tire leak issue and replaced the parts. They only charged the basic inspection fee with no extra charges, and they clearly stated the price upfront. Highly recommended!
Service was quick, but they capitalize on the fact that they are the only towing/tire service in the area.
Passing through on a cross country trip and needed an oil change on our truck. We run synthetic oil. Called and were told they could accommodate us and made an appointment and was told about $300 which was outrageous and more than we d ever paid but decided to go ahead.because the timing was good and they could fit us in. Once the truck was on the lift they told us our truck used 13 quarts (F350) and we would have to pay for 16 quarts because they were buying it by the gallon (but charging by the quart) and they didn t want the leftover. The bill came to $402.18. When my husband said wow he was told we re in the middle of nowhere , which is ridiculous. My husband normally does the routine maintenance himself and oil and filter never cost more than $150. We were charged $346.82 for oil and a NAPA filter. If you can, run or drive away from this place as fast as you can.
John came from Lone Pine to Panamint Springs on Highways Patrol request to assist getting our broken down truck towing a 5th wheel to a safe spot off the westbound lane which we were blocking. He was prompt, efficient and capable.
Super nice groups of guys. Flat towed Jeep from Kentucky to Lone Pine CA, was having an issue with squeaking noise in brakes, they got me in and out in under 30 mins, after finding a smushed can between pads and rotor. Thanks again guys!!!
Helped my family. Were kind and explained things well. Thank you.
Whoever coined the phrase Highway Robbery must have had Miller s Towing in mind.
Great trailer tires at a good price. Quick and friendly A+ service.
No welder on staff.
My SUV got stuck in sand in Alabama Hills. Called John. He found me and winched me out in less than an hour. He charged a fair price and even offered camp site recommendation near Lone Pine. Has been my pleasure to have met John. He has a great personality. Highly recommend his service!
Excellent friendly service
Awesome guys. Helped me with my flat fast and fair. Cool dog too!
We had called Millers tires, due to an issue with our 2 back RV tires while traveling. Spoke with Adam, who confirmed he had them in stock. Adam was very nice, exceptional customer service. We contemplated going backward on our trip to Millers or forward to another tire shop. We decided that we would go forward. Wouldnt have made either one. Our tires gave out before we got to the other tire store. Im writing this review because Adam, at Millers was awesome and bent over backwards, trying to help us. If you are local to Millers, I highly recommend them for your tire needs!
Worst I called to get a price and said I had the stupidest question didn t even finish talking then stated the place was closed so why would you aswers to call back in the morning not calling back
Yes they were very fun and personable. You wud be happy too by if you were making bank off the tourist trade like they do.. if you have enough money they will just about do anything you need. If you dont they will just laugh at you while telling you what they will charge because it s such a dirty job- the one you need done but can t afford it. They certainly are not going the extra mile unless it s costing you extra.
They know their stuff and the know the valley. Treat them with respect and you will be fine.
Many thanks again to Issac, who saved our trip by fixing our leaking tire. Great fast service allowed us to complete our cross-state drive and make it back home.
Excellent and friendly service
Best around
A very belated glowing review of when John saved me from the side of the road in my RV last year. In late May 2023 I was just starting my 5,000-mile, 13-state roadtrip from AZ to Ohio. Five days in I decided against my original plan of going to Tahoe through western NV and opted to take the CA mountainous route in my 26 RV. Needless to say, after plenty of 10° grade mountainous downhills and not downshifting properly I eventually found myself at the bottom of the mountain with smoking brakes and barely a cell signal. After MANY calls I somehow, miraculously, was connected with John Miller...the angel who saved me who Im thankful for to this day. His is the only RV towing service in the county, it was the biggest weekend of the year for the area (Memorial Day plus the areas biggest annual event) and absolutely no one else was able to help. He drove an hour to pick me up, arrived to me bawling that I had nowhere to take my RV for repairs so he kindly towed me/my RV back to his lot an hour away to Lone Pine, let me stay on the lot (with power hookup!) for the night and checked everything out the next day. Fortunately I had only started burning up the lubricant on my (new) brake pads (hence the smoke) so there was no real damage done. He re-lubed everything, made a few adjustments and had me on the road the next day. He encouraged me to continue my month-long roadtrip as I had planned it and not let this setback deter me (I was hesitant to stick to my plan). He was exactly who I needed to get me back on track with the repairs but also mentally. I dont know how I was so lucky to have things line up as they did but John truly saved me that day. It was just me and my little 6-lb dog on a cross country adventure and I had zero options at the time and was very scared. He was so kind as we drove back to his shop with my RV in tow as we chatted and he reassured me all would be ok. And it was. My dad had died three months earlier and I 100% believe he sent John to me, he was watching out for me from above and sent this kind, caring man to help me and Im forever grateful. John is truly an angel among us and I can only imagine how many others hes saved in his 50 years in the business. I cant recommend him and his business enough. Thank you John.
Very good service, we got out of death valley with a 10cm nail in one of our tires, we got to Miller s with our spare tire: in 20minutes, the tire was changed and back on our car. Super fast, great service, and not expensive. If you have a car issue, you can go there with trust Services
Excellent service
As others have stated, some of the worst costumer service I have ever encountered. My car broke down (axel broke) on cross country trip. I had dropped off my car there after hours the day before and spoken to Jon (he was friendly) on the phone. First thing the next morning I called to see what was wrong or how much it was going to be and Jim (the grumpy man) told me they were already working on it. I had left my phone number with them the night before so I was confused why they wouldnt at least call me and give me an estimate before starting to work on it. I might be wrong but I thought this was industry standard. I told him I needed a minute to call someone as the bill he was quoting me seemed rather high. He told me I had 5 mins to call back or he was taking my car off the lift. He then called back in two mins and told me he had decided he didnt want to work on my vehicle and to get it out of there or he was charging me a daily impound fee. He then hung up on me. Granted we never had any argument or poor exchange of words. I called back and asked him to please just do the work as it was going to be a huge hassle to go get my car 3 hours away and tow it home. There are no other mechanics in the town. He cussed at me and hung up on me again. I cant speak to the quality of their work as they never worked on my vehicle but from a costumer service perspective they are terrible. From reading other posts it seems to just be this one individual but Id avoid this place if at all possible!!!
Our car got stuck in mud on our way up Horseshoe Meadow Road, and the only way Miller could have been more helpful was if he had stopped us from driving up there in the first place.
Millers Tow will get you out of about any tight spot. They also have a great service center to replace tires or service your car.
Tires were fixed and I was on the road the same day.
Don t stop on this place I m a truck driver Call then to rotation tires show up They told me they can t because they close at 5pm
Called to see if he had a used tire gentleman answered the the phone was very rude and laughed and told me to look for a used one on the side of the road just needed one to get me back home I would have bought a brand new one if he wasnt so rude went elsewhere I suggest everyone else do the same rude people dont deserve business
Great place! Very nice and helpful!
Ok. If you are a sensitive person, the owner, John, is not for you. But he is the only biz in town & has more than enough work so he is an open book both on the phone & in person. So yes, he really doesn t need your business & lacks in political correctness. But he is a softy & does help the down & out folks that really need help in this isolated area of the world. He gave us some flippant remark when we first called, but when he saw our sad faces (& credit card ) he bent over backwards to help us out. We spent quite a bit of time in his shop over the week that we were in the area, & realized that his shop is also well loved by locals, law enforcement, & park service.
John n the guys where amazing . Even the bill was less than expected.. hell it was like he did it for free .
John and his crew are great! Expensive, but spot on.
We got a flat in Death Valley. The next morning they put us in the front of the line. In and out, very fast and fairly priced. They saved our vacation!
Awesome
Fast and excellent service.
Excellent equipment cant comment on their service went a different route because of their price... Anything good cost money
My trailers spring hangers broke. Millers got me right in and welded them back on. Hats off to clay the high end welder. Jims a funny guy. Awesome business.
AAA and Mr. Ks left us high and dry. After wasting hours of our time on the side of the road, they said they dont service dirt roads. Problem was it was a county road that happened to be dirt. Millers Towing was the best. We definitely recommend them. Thanks guys!
This is the view youll see going south on highway 395.
Very rude individual that answered the phone at 5:10pm told me it was my fault that I got a flat after he had closed and that he would see me at 8:00am the next day if I wanted his help. With this attitude why would you bother answering the the phone I ended up paying $$$$ to get towed home but would do it again rather than paying this guy a dime
Millers towing and auto repair have taken care of my vehicles for 15 years they always guarantee their work they will go out of their way to get you back on the road as soon as possible I give them a 5 star rating
Only game in town if you need a new tire.
In and out with a flat repair in under 30 minutes for under $20. Highly recommend this place.
Not only did John Miller Towing rescue us after we spent 21 hours stranded on Towne Pass ( at 4,925 feet), but John diagnosed what broke inside our RV by careful listening to our description using his 49 years of experience around Death Valley. I was able to pass his diagnosis to two mechanics in Pahrump who fixed that exact problem and had us back on our way with 28 hours. Thank you sir.
Showed up with a damaged bumper on Christmas Eve, just needed a patch to get in our way. Paul hooked us up! The whole experience was quick and affordable, we were on our way in 30 mins. Everyone was so friendly and kind, and the dog running around was a sweetheart! Thank you Millers team and thank you Paul!
Got my truck stuck out on the jeep trails millers towing got me and my truck out safe at a very reasonable price.
They fixed my RV even though it was a tow company. They went above the call of duty. They no what they are talking about. Just listen .
Grumpy man answered, had an emergency situation and he told me to call back later
This organization belonging to the Lone Pine Chamber of commerce charged me 240 to reconnect my alternator wiring and to charge my battery and another $65 to tow my truck 1 block. He took advantage of me being from out of town and stranded. RIP off turning him in to the BBB and having his business investigated . Outrageous !!!
Great business. John rescued us from the desert, after hours, when our Jeeps transfer case got stuck in neutral! While hooking us up to tow, he noticed our rear brakes needed looking at! He fixed the transfer case linkage and replaced the rear brakes in less than 72 hours! Great service.
Like another reviewer on this list, I also punctured a tire near Keeler. My hotel recommended Millers. CJ inspected, told me I just needed a patch, patched it up, and had me on my way quickly for $32! Its great finding an honest shop when youre a stranded tourist.
Ty John, Jim ( Buttercup), and CJ for getting us back on the road. Very friendly guys
We took a trip to Lone Pine from LA and ended up puncturing a tire along the way around 5pm on a Saturday, so most tire repairs shops were unfortunately closed and not reopening until Monday. Miller s didn t have closing times listed on google maps so we gave a call to see if they were open and could do a quick tire patch job. The man who answered was incredibly rude and hung up on us mid-sentence the first time we called to see if they were open (why answer the phone if you aren t??). We called again to see if he knew of any other places that were open and again hung up on us mid-sentence. Worst attitude I ve encountered from a mechanic and truly did not seem to care that we were essentially stranded. Based on other negative reviews, avoid this place if you can.
If your car breaks down and youre stranded in the desert, you dont have many choices for help. Fortunately theres Millers. If youre gonna complain of price gouging or something like that... This is such a remote location. Youd better come prepared. Make sure your car is in good working order and you probably wont need to call a tow truck. Or you can be like me and call Millers through the satellite phone in Panamint Springs after your car breaks down in Death Valley. He drove all the way out and towed my car back to his shop for about $350, plus an additional fee for disposal... RIP to the Ford Festiva.
Wonderful service!!!.Helpful staff in a pinch! All your travel issues mechanically can be solved there, or they suggested otherwise. Great experience!
Ended up in Lone Pine with a flat tire on my trailer and the folks at Miller s replaced the tire immediately and I was on my way. Thank you!!!
Friendly and Fast!!
I was on a ride and needed some welding done. Not only did they fix my problem, they did it better then me and Im very very particular. To top it off they charged me rediculous cheap so I added 20 or 30$ to the guy that did the work. I should have been charged more and was surprised. These guys have my 5 star hands down! 2 days ago I needed to air up my truck tires after offloading when once again traveling through town. They set me right up right away! The The Mobil gas station north of Millers on the east side of 395 refused to give me air from thier machine and said I had to pay. MILLERS IS A 5 STAR SHOP by far. Also being a mechanic myself I am really impressed on how clean and organized thier shop and outside work areas are. That alone is an indication of how they will work on your vehicle. Twice now Im very impressed. You dont have customer service annnd trust worthy people to work on vehicles very much today. Millers Thank you very much! PS my sissy bar on my chopper is still going strong and ill say again its better than if my particular a$$ would have done haha!
Millers saved us today. Plastic shield covering engine compartment tore off in lone pine. We made it back to Millers and they took care of us in minutes for a fair price!! Off to the mountains!!
We broke down nearby. We tried calling but no answer over two days. Thankfully we managed to find a mechanic in a nearby campground that was willing to help us during his vacation
Great people working here.
While my truck was unlawfully impounded for 30 days, the people at Millers towing whom towed it took it upon themselves to use it freely as if it where theirs. They put 500 miles on it apparently rummaged through every inch of it destroying things as they went, my ball hitch was missing the magnetic lights for the trailer i was towing were completely destroyed my wiring plugins for towing things were left hanging and destroyed. They even left the windows down apparently for the whole time it was there so the interior is all messed up. The icing on top of the cake is they charged me $2012 to get it back and demanded it be in cash. The guy even had the audacity to tell me the day it was impounded that I could come hand him $2000 and he would give me the truck but not to get caught with it before the 30 days was over. Around the 3rd time I called inquiring about my vehicle he very sarcastically told me that if he recieved anymore calls about it he would be tacking on another $300 to my total. I have since been told that had I done that and gotten caught in it I could have been charged with grand theft auto. When my aunt went to get her trailer from this place he charged her $1000 for the two weeks it was held there and immedialty afterwards offered her $1000 for it. I could just go on and on about this horrible ordeal. I understand that it was impounded (legally/illegally) but that should have no effect on the professionalism of a company. A good business who cares about their customers treats other peoples belongings as if they were their own. Millers towing really missed the mark for me.
Good people terry was a lifesaver and went above and beyond. I now consider him a friend. I needed help with a load that shifted on a flatbed truck. Terys attitude is lets git er done
Miller s Towing did an awesome job pulling my F250 out of a difficult spot. At the end of the day, I definitely learned from John Miller s extensive knowledge of the area and how to avoid troubles. The best part was full coverage by my car insurance tow policy! Thank you John.
