They carry a ton of great auto parts stuff, fluids, tools and even have some good welding supplies if you're in a pinch on the weekend. Good selection of moto gear too.
Really just a quick stop to pick up some radiator fluid and oil. But the staff was friendly and welcoming.
Fairly large and very well stocked store providing automotive parts, accessories, fluids & lubes, manuals, and all the vehicle things that the "big two" competitors have, but way more than the Big Two. For example, they probably have at least 50% more electrical connectors and components. They had a rare Haynes service manual for my Toyota Previa. It cost about $10 more than the common, late model manuals at other stores, but in over 10 years of looking, it's the first time I've ever seen that manual onna shelf anywhere. They also have an in-house auto service center (mechanic/garage). They're pricey though. But i think the best aspect out this store is that it's one of the last parts stores that still has knowledgeable, helpful gearheads behind the counter who have automotive experience and know what they're talking about. (Also ranking high for customer service is Midcounty Auto Parts and tje tiny Boulder Creek Auto Parts store (actual name i can't remember). Every time i go in there I tell myself I have to remember to go in there more often. Then forget, and repeat. Try not to be like me. You'll thank me for it.
Back in february I called about getting a quote for repairs emailed to me since my car is not driveable and needed to compare prices. I am working with the county of Santa Cruz for these repairs so having quotes I could print out was needed. It was sent to me no questions asked. I ended up running into a different problem recently and called Ernies. The OWNER which he said was the one I was talking with on the phone told me he could not send me a quote thru email. When I let him know that I had received a quote from them before, he proceeds to ask personal questions like “why i needed it emailed” and “why am I getting all these estimates and not doing work on it” with a very rude tone of voice. When I let him know it was for myself instead of give him further explanation he then says “WELL I CANT HELP YOU THERE” before we end the call. VERY UNPROFFESIONAL!!!!!
I bring my older diesel truck here for service as they seem far more prepared for big trucks than most shops and seem quite familiar with my Ford 7.3 power stroke... so far so good.
I was having a pretty miserable day and they straightened everything right out. I drove over a board with a nail in it at the dump in a rental truck and the tire went flat pretty much immediately. None of the tools were in the truck so I had no jack and couldn't remove the spare. Did a quick patch, limped it to Ernie's, and Ryan was able to get the spare out of there, swapped it on, and topped all four wheels off with air. Saved me hours of waiting for a tow. I'll be returning here the next time I need maintenance.
We were in town for Independence Day weekend when our car broke down. We were uncertain who would be available to service our car given the holiday weekend. Ernie's was the closest mechanic to where we were staying and so we reserved an appointment online, hoping to hear back. They called us to follow up, immediately following the Sunday holiday. We had our car towed to Ernie's and were relieved to find a professional and friendly staff. Despite their busy schedule they quickly identified the problem and had our car up and running within an hour and for a reasonable price. We remain grateful to Ernie's Service Center!
Above and beyond! I came to get a hose for an 18 wheeler. What hose? Well, I didn't know. I received a picture from my brother who got stranded on HW17 and said, get me one of this. I entered the store and was greeted and directed to the back of the store to get help. I forgot the name of the sales tech but, my Lord, was he helpful, knowledgeable, patient. I had his undivided attention at all times. He went through a couple of manuals trying to find what I was looking for. In the end he recommended a piece of hose that could get my bother back on the road and explained me how to install it to ensure correct fluid flow. The hose fit. My brother delivered his cargo and everyone was happy. Store is clean and follows covid-19 regulations regarding mask and social distance. Excellent service!
