You can always come to Loyola Marina Auto Care for all of your auto-repair needs.
The first time I took my car to Loyola Marina Auto I had great service and thought they were fair. Therefore, I then took it back to them for an oil change and inspection six months later. At this visit they noted that I had about 3-4,000 worth of repairs that need to be done but I was skeptical as nothing was brought up the last time I visited with them 6 months prior (in two of the months the car wasn’t driven). Therefore, I asked them to do the oil change and replace one of the break pads but requested they hold off on all other repairs. I asked for a breakdown of the costs of the repairs they recommended because initially the quote was for all 6 repairs (with one price rather than itemized). I thought this was odd but correct me if I’m wrong if this is the industry standard. When they broke down the price and I compared each of the repairs to other shops I found that they were charging significantly more. I then took my car to another shop I trust to do a full inspection as I have a long road trip coming up and they noted “nothing is wrong, your car is in great condition. Nothing will prevent you from making the 2000+ mile roadtrip.” This was extremely frustrating and I will not be returning to Loyola Marina Auto in the future.
Great experience. My car is very old and needed a lot of help and Paul and his team were super friendly/communicative the whole time.
A year and a half ago, my Prius broke down, and I had it towed to a nearby chain shop. After a diagnostic test, they said I needed to replace the hybrid battery. I wanted a second opinion, and I found Loyola Marina Auto Care while researching shops that are more experienced with hybrid vehicles. After inspecting the car, they found that the only problem was the fuel pump needing to be replaced. They even ran some kind of test to verify that so I wouldn’t have to pay for something that didn’t fix the problem. Then, about 6 months ago, my car wouldn’t start. I had it towed to a shop that told me that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. Since I had a warranty with Loyola Marina Auto Care for that, I had it towed there. After inspecting the car and adding some fuel for testing, they found that the only problem was with the thing that measures the fuel level. The fuel gauge was saying I had ¼ tank of gas, but I actually was completely out of gas. After adding fuel, they also checked that the hybrid battery was recharging and holding a charge normally. So there was nothing wrong with the fuel pump. I just ran out of gas, and that’s why the car didn’t start. I recently started bringing my car in for oil changes as well, since the oil change comes with an inspection, and I trust them to correctly identify when something needs to be replaced. Also, Paul was very helpful with explaining the diagnoses and testing done on the car and following up with updates while the car was in the shop.
283Kmi on my 2001 4Runner and going strong. Just use excellent oil like MobilOne, change every 5Kmi, and fix everything else as soon as it needs to be done. Oh yes, you also need expert service like Loyola Marina Automotive. Paul and Tim are the best in greater LA and probably the world. Do what they suggest.
A high level of professional competence together with good service. They have done an excellent job helping me keep my old Ford Explorer in top condition.
After driving 2 days in San Diego it was time to take our cousin back to LAX for his trip back to Toronto. I hardly drive my 2001 Ford F150 out of town but the truck has never had any issues until we exited Hwy 105 for LAX and heard a loud pop. We were able to make it all the way to the departures area and pulled over to the side. AAA ended up towing our truck to Loyola Marina Auto Care. Since it was late at night I couldn’t speak to them until the next morning. I called the next day and Paul answered who was very pleasant to talk to. He told me that they would have to do a diagnostic first then would call me back. That same day he called me back to tell me my spark plug out of its threads damaging the threads with it. He said that their auto shop can retread it and put in a new spark plug and coils. They literally did it in one day and I had to drive back to Los Angeles the next to pick it up. The truck ran great as I drove it 140 miles back home. Also they noticed my oil was low and topped it off for free for me. I highly recommend them.
I don’t understand why anyone would say it feels unsafe. The workers are SO kind and patient and helpful. this is my first car and having so many bad experiences in finding someone to change my battery they fit me in last minute. I also asked for an understanding of other maintenance and they were very nice to explain it all and are not pushy. I personally think the price is very fair especially for the convenience and great people. I will be going back for the recommended other services. I also heard them being very kind and patient to an elderly couple in line before me.
Miguel came through very clutch for me yesterday with getting me in quickly to have my flat tire repaired!! 🙌🏾 Everywhere else I was calling was going to take HOURS and I just did not have time, but Miguel got me in and out in under 30 minutes; quickly and efficiently repairing a nail hole in my tire. Thank you for getting me back up and running in a reasonable amount of time!
