Independent Transmission in Ventura

Main goal of this shop is to squeeze as much money as they can outta you. Took my car there a year ago for a transmission issue and asked for them to check on my cooling system. Ended up with $3000 of repairs on my cooling system but just a simple tune up on my transmission that did not fix my issue at all. A year later I found a shop that fixed my transmission with a simple 300 dollar repair.

*UPDATE 4/23* I reaffirm Chris's quality work and customer service. He is a great listener, dependable, and consistently provides timely feedback at all stages of the job. I brought my X3 for a change of the oil pan gasket, oil filter housing, brake overhaul, and strut replacement, and the car runs like brand new. I look forward to coming back to him for services in the future. * Independent Transmission has been possibly the best in customer service that I've experienced with a mechanic. Chris is honest, patient, and easy to talk to, and the quality of his work is superb. He and his team perform a wide range of services on a variety of vehicles, so their expertise is hardly limited to transmission work. My 2004 BMW X3 had a failing transfer case, so I brought it to Chris in hopes of having it rebuilt. He proceeded without hesitation, and upon identifying the source of the problem and weighing a rebuilt against a replacement offered me an honest recommendation to go with the replacement. That turned out to be the best option. Two years later, the car still runs fabulously.

I took my 2014 Ford fusion in today to have the transmission serviced then I found out he does much more than transmissions so I had him flush the radiator too. Chris and the mechanic were very informative, I recently moved to the Ventura area after the Santa Cruz fires and I’m so happy to have found a quality honest and very reasonably priced Mechanic. I had called three different shops today and asked about a transmission service, Independent was less than HALF the price of the other “professional” shops. I will be back for a full tuneup and to bring my 2004 F-350 turbo diesel in for a transmission service. Don’t go anywhere else I’m in my mid-50s raced cars for over 20 years and could tell the second I walked into the shop that this was a quality mechanic’s shop.

I had Chris rebuilt my Nissan Altima transmission and was very impressed with his shop. I have never seen a shop more organized, clean and well equipped. He took me back to his rebuilding area and explained what parts I needed and showed me the problem areas of the transmission. He recommended a shift improvement kit with the work and now the car shifts better than it ever has. Thanks Chris!

I've been taking my cars (both every day drivers and show cars) to Chris for about 20 years. He's a terrific mechanic, but more important he's honest and honesty is very important to me. He's not cheap, he doesn't used cheap parts. He's not expensive because his work lasts. I've never had a problem with him. If he says something needs fixing it's for sure the something does need fixing.

This shop is a all service Automotive Shop not just Transmissions . This is my third posting and rating for this shop . Five stars is not enough for the quality of service provided by Chris and his team and customer service or. and his entire team Focus not only on your current visit but their goal is to ensure quality pricing quality service and attention to detail. I have taken all five of my cars over 15 years ...now 17 to Chris for any and all needs. And my nephew's and my mother-in-law now have gone and Don't let the transmission part of his Shop fool you. He can pretty much fix anything If you go into his shop look on the wall at all the certifications and training that he has strived to keep up with and to provide all of his clients. Great pricing offers options and a dying breed of honest-to-goodness mechanic. You would be a fool not to go to Chris and his shop.

Highly recommend Independent Transmission especially for hot rods or modified vintage vehicles like my custom 1970 F250. Chris has the knowledge and expertise to match the best components for high performance vehicles. Always available and happy to help whenever you call with questions. Honest and takes the time to explain options and any potential changes in work or cost. Well worth the commute from Santa Barbara.

This is the best auto shop I have EVER used. I picked one off of Google, and boy did I get lucky. I was out of state and having serious car issues stemming from bad sensors. Chris was patient and kind, honest and extremely knowledgeable about the issues. He even showed me the problem when my car was on the rack. He is very fair with prices. 4 weeks later, When I returned to my home state, I developed a leak from a gasket I had asked them to replace. I paid for the repair and thought I'd give it a shot to see if Chris had some type of warranty. I had little hope and was weary to even call, but he was so kind and right away agreed to PAYPAL me the cost of the gasket repair work. No questions asked. How incredible! I wish I lived in Cali, this would be my go to mechanic for everything! Thanks again, Chris. You're the best.
