First time at Bill Smith. Incredibly helpful! I came in a smoking engine with hopes of still making it to Disneyland that same day! They got me in right away and made sure we safe to drive! I’ll be coming back again!

Bill Smith service is absolutely amazing! When my filler cap on my Honda came off and I couldn’t put gas in the car he actually sent one of his service guys with me to the gas station to jury rig the gas intake with a funnel so I could drive the car while he ordered the part. His prices are extremely fair and he is just a salt of the earth, kind man. All of the work he has done for me has been just perfect and he’s miles cheaper than the guy next door to him.
Ive been coming to Bill Smith Automotive for years. (Shame on me for never writing a review!) Fred and Laurie are the nicest, people around! BEST, Honest and Trustworthy car repair shop in San Diego. Bill Smith auto is run by gentleman named Fred who is the most amazing mechanical technician ever. We have been taking cars there for years and he and the business are not only honorable and trustworthy but the best at what they do. They truly care about their customers and I have recommended him many times. I can’t say enough good things about them. 😎😎
My family has been coming here since before my sisters and I were of legal driving age. Coming up on probably a good 15 years at this point. I know it’s usually an oxymoron to call an automotive mechanic honest but if you’re looking for an honest mechanic, look no further! Fred has always done an astounding job taking care of my family of 6 over the years. Their team does an excellent job tackling any issue we have. I once came in because I thought my car had a leak. It smelled like chemicals. Fred did a full comprehensive examination of my car to find the source but couldn’t find anything and didn’t end up charging me. Ended up figuring out that it was my dog’s new toy sitting in the baking sun in the back of my car. I really appreciate the honesty and care I receive every time I come here. They never upsell or try to make me fix things that don’t need fixing. You guys are seriously the best. Cheers to another 15 years I hope 🥂

Went in to Bill Smith s about a month ago to see if a car I just bought needed any repairs. No repairs whatsoever were suggested. A month later my car completely broke down while driving and I was told by another mechanic there were countless issues with the car that should have and easily could have been fixed at my visit to Bill Smith s. Do NOT reccommend

Definitely recommend Bill Smith Automotive. Lory was very professional and courteous on the phone and in person. Fred was very honest, knowledgeable and thorough with inspection. We went for vehicle pre-purchase inspection. They went above and beyond with the inspection and filled up power steering fluid free of charge. Since the car we brought was older car, Freds repair recommendations were very practical and instead of telling us to fix everything he suggested to maintain few things as long as possible which makes sense for older cars.
So I walked in with no appointment....told the receptionist (I think her name is Lori) that the skid plate on my car was loose and was banging the underside of the car.. Within seconds she asked a mechanic to put the car up on a rack, and minutes later the issue was fixed. Fred was asked how much was the repair. He said ZERO. The people there are the kind of folks you want to sit down and enjoy a meal with. Old fashioned service and super friendly folks. Cant wait for another car repair! THANK YOU.

The team at Bill Smith are absolutely fantastic. This is the second time I have used them already highly recommend them to all of my friends. They opened extra early to cater to my work schedule and along with the oil change they also kindly checked two other issues at no extra charge. One of the issues were my brakes as another garage had told me I urgently needed my brake pads changed and was risking my life driving with them. Bill s checked and were very honest and said I had plenty of wear left on them and it wasn t necessary. They also fixed the other issue free of charge. It s hard to find an honest mechanic and as a female find I m often a target for garages up selling and fabricating issues. The team here are wonderful, very friendly, very honest and great value - thank you!

Bill Smith is the place to go. Best prices west of the 5 and great service. I know I can trust their recommendation. After being advised I needed 4K in repairs from another place Bill Smith gave me an estimate for $500 for the only critical repair and the car has been great for two years since. I will use these guys as long as I m in the area.

These guys are the KINDEST! So honest too - if you dont have a mechanic you trust, try them out! They checked my engine out and since there wasnt anything wrong with it they didnt charge! Theyre still taking theyre time to diagnose, so its extrememly kind of them to not charge for that visit! I highly recommend using this shop!
Stay away..... totally got taken at this place. They did not use the correct parts and after coming back they did not correct the repairs. If i could i would leave 0 stars. The lady who works there is NOT friendly at all and hung up on me after follow up. You need to learn some customer service skills. over charged and treated horribly, Caution....

I initially called on a Friday morning to determine the cost for a car battery replacement. The woman who answered the phone told me that their computer system was down but that she would call me back when it came back online to give me a price. All Friday and the weekend went by with no call, so Monday afternoon I tried back. The system had come back online, but they forgot to give me a call. No big deal, things like that happen. The woman who had assisted me on Friday proceeded to get the information about my car and determine the cost for replacement in their computer system. She told me $280 for the battery and $45 for the labor. I responded very politely that this seemed high for the cost of a battery and I asked, again very politely, what type of battery this was and whether that was the retail price for the battery. Her response? Its none of your business what the retail price of the battery is. EXCUSE ME?? I told her I thought that was a rude way to respond to a customer and she proceeded to hang up the phone on me. Im actually glad this happened because it saved me the trouble of dealing with a repair shop that refuses to be transparent about how they are charging you. Dont say it is $45 in labor if you are charging me an extra $100 markup (or whatever) for the battery. If this is how they do business in general, Bill Smith Automotive is an auto shop that should be avoided at all costs. Deceptive, and rude.
