An excellent master automotive technician specializing in Porsche and European Cars. As a customer of Ted’s Foreign Car, and with my office just around the corner, I have gained a unique perspective on Ted’s repair business. I am compelled to share my firsthand experience as well as my observations. Full disclosure: I would consider Ted a friend, but our friendship is a direct result of getting to know and trust him, as well as witnessing the quality and consistency of his work over the last several years. From what I’ve witnessed over the last 27 years in and around the automotive repair industry, you will likely find two types of technicians in repair shops... The techs that are the masters of their trade ...and the less experienced techs that take orders and do the actual labor on the vehicles. The master technician(s) often supervise, delegate tasks, or generally manage the shop. This definitely is not the case with Ted’s shop... he is the sole technician in this repair center. That means your car is in the hands of an experienced automotive technician. Ted listens carefully to his customers concerns and issues. He is very patient. He takes the time to understand exactly where the customer is coming from. He takes both big and small jobs to heart. As far as his skill level, experience, and his general (and specialized) automotive knowledge, Ted is a top notch technician. In the rare occasion where there is a portion of the work that falls outside the range of his expertise, he isn’t afraid to delegate a portion of the job to someone more appropriately suited in order to ensure that the entire job is done exactly right. He did a complete restoration on a vintage Porsche 911 once and at the end of his work he had a specialist come in to replace the headliner even though Ted could have done it himself. He wanted the work done to the highest standard. The end result was a beautiful restoration and an extremely happy customer. Most important to me than anything else is that I can trust him. He has consistently been honest about what he believes to be the best way forward. Even though he’s the sole mechanic in his shop, he doesn’t overbook and he works on every single vehicle as though it is were his own. If you just want some parts changed on your car then, you can take your chances with a corporate run car care center, or go to a dealership and pay way too much for way too little. However, if you are looking for someone who will take the time to understand exactly what it will take to make sure that your vehicle is repaired properly, Ted is an all-around excellent choice and I would recommend him highly to anyone with any type of European car. Especially if they own a Porsche. Bottom Line: Excellent Guy, excellent work. Highly recommend.
