Carlos was very helpful and professional. I am happy that Costco has him !
Geesh. I am almost speechless at what a ridiculous ordeal it has been to get tires from this location. If you need new tires immediately... DO NOT go here for speed and ease. I've been a Costco member for years and bought many tires from other locations with ease. This time though...it is a week later and still no tracking and no tires. I've called more times than I can remember at this point. After 4 calls and no answer the first day I finally got someone to answer. He was short and not very helpful. Told me we had to buy the tires online or in the store before we could make an appt. If we went in to buy the tires they could not guarantee a service time for that day. So, living in the mountains 30 minutes away, we asked which tires to buy online that they had in stock at the store and we would buy them and set an appt. He was short and hard to understand and did not give us the item #. We placed an order online and called multiple times again and finally got an answer and got a nice guy (I believe his name is Carlos) to explain things better. We told him we placed the order and he said it was too soon for him to see it on his end so they still could not set an appt. When we called multiple times again and finally got the same nice man on the phone we found out that apparently we got the wrong ones and they did not have those ones in stock. They had to wait for them to come from Oakland. It's been almost a week now and we still have no tracking information or new tires. Did I mention we live in the mountains and there are small kids who ride in that vehicle with bad tires? Not impressed. At this point we could've gone over the hill to Discount Tires and had new tires right away. Next time we will.
Costco tire center was great! Easily went online to pick my tires out, paid for them and set an appointment up. Dropped my car off at the time of my appointment (9:30) they checked me in right away and told me they would call me when it was done. Less than 2 hours later it was ready to be picked up.
I’ve been using Costco for my tires for years, first in Ohio and now here. The value of it is such a good deal that I will probably continue tolerating stupefyingly bad service rather than go elsewhere. Golden handcuffs of sorts… I don’t know what is going on with this location, but something is broken. There’s zero attention to detail and some dumb thing overlooked every time I go, which makes 3x now. Most recently, I took my new car in for nitrogen conversion. My appointment was at 4:45, I was on time and the estimated about a two hour wait. Sure. Fine. It’s a weekday and I expect them to be behind at that point. Fine I got a notification that my car had been unlocked so I knew that they had moved it it on Google maps so I could tell when they were working on it and when they had moved it back to a parking spot. I wasn’t called when it was finished. I arrived 30 minutes after it had been moved. They did not replace the valve cap with the green ones signifying that the tires were filled with nitrogen and seemed confused why I would want that, despite the fact that every time it’s been a default thing. More disturbingly, my car wasn’t locked and my hood wasn’t latched correctly and was displaying a message warning about it on the dashboard. Thankfully my medication wasn’t stolen out of my car while it sat there unattended. Finally, only one of four tires had the correct pressure in them. The other three were between one and 5 pounds low. I hate to lean on a cliché here, but this isn’t rocket science. I just don’t understand how you can screw up more tasks that were even included in the project. It’s impressive and depressing as all get out.
This place must be managed by children or possibly a chimpanzee. What you gain in cheaper tires you lose in wasted time. The service center is always impacted and everything takes way longer than it should. I will definitely be going elsewhere for tires in the future
I went in for a simple tire rotation and when the service tech handed my truck over to me I noticed a liquid that had been splattered on the face each of my wheels. I didn't think too much of it and got into my truck and left. Fast forward to my next washing (about a month later) and I noticed that the solution had permanently stained (etched) my nice black wheels! I filed a formal written compliant with the Costco Tire Center and the manager said that they do not used ANY solution for any of their tire installation or rotation procedures. The manager told me that they did have video cameras at various locations throughout the tire center which could be reviewed. He took pictures of each of my wheels and said that I would be hearing back from them within 48 hours. I received a call from Costco's insurance adjuster a couple of days later and he stated that since Costco did not use any solution for any of their operations that my wheels would not be covered. The adjuster did not mention any feedback from the video surveillance and I 100% guaranteed him that if they in fact had eyes on my truck and tires the entire time that it was in the shop then they would surely see how the solution got into my wheels. I have been a loyal Costco customer for decades and was shocked that a company like Costco would literally ruin a customers wheels during a simple tire rotation and not try to get to the bottom of what may have happened. One VERY Disappointed customer!
This place is so slow you I don’t get what all them are doing. Had tire rotation at 11am was assuming it would be fast since it’s morning appointment, no. Didn’t even look at my car till 1:30 just to call me saying they wouldn’t even do it since my tires were too bald. Fair enough but that could have took 2 minutes, I waited around for 2.5 hours. The employees are super unfriendly and unapproachable too, expect better from Costco.
I am a big Costco fan and been a member since Price Club San Diego in 1976. That said my last experience at the Santa Cruz tire shop was not pleasant. Made appointment for 6pm Wednesday. Showed up at 545, did paperwork and was told it would be about 90 minutes because of backlog. Cruised the store and at 630 went so see how my car was doing. 3 bays empty and they brough 3 new cars in none of them mine. By 7pm just starting on the cars. I asked for my keys and left since I figured I would not be out until 830. Staff was apologetic and nice but I feel they must be really overworked. If you are going to schedule appointments at least try and get that customer's car on the lift within 15 mins. Maybe like the photo service Costco corporate figures the tire shop business just doesn't make sense. If that is the case just close it down.
