Motech Auto & Moto in Santa Cruz

I came here to get a smog check, when I showed up they said they needed to check the car's onboard computer. They said there was something wrong with it, and they would need to charge me $120 JUST TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I went to a different, more reputable, shop and they said there was nothing wrong with it. TLDR: only come here if you want to get scammed and overcharged.

Our battery died just at closing time at the start of 4th of July weekend. We wereon vacation at the Best Western with our two preschool age children in their car seats. We called Steve at MoTech, and he walked over to our motel and charged it up for us. I’m sure he wanted to close up shop and start his holiday weekend, so it was really nice of him to do this. He also didn’t want to take any money, which makes me think he is a really decent guy. We didn’t have any complicated work done, but half the battle is just finding a mechanic you can trust. I recommend him!

After hearing many stories about mechanic scams and watching scotty on YouTube, I was wary of going to a mechanic. However, my experience with Motech was the complete opposite of what I feared right from my first call with Steve; he really wanted to help us!! The service we got was top notch and Steve went above and beyond to help us out. Steve, be blessed; you will hear only good news about her.

Booked a car in SF to drive down the coast when we‘ve had some issues with our tire. It was already 10 min after closing time, nevertheless, we received amazing support and could continue our trip just 30 min later.

Best auto shop in Santa Cruz. My check engine light came on. I took my van to them and had it back on the road in a matter of minutes.

Smogged both vehicles there recently and they are reasonably priced and don't charge if you don't pass. They are actually located on May st though so it's easy to drive by and not see the building. Everyone who I worked with was very nice and helpful.

Steve is such a nice guy. A couple of my friends recommended him, also had a very positive experience. I'm traveling through Santa Cruz, and my ac belt was causing my car to make a terrible noise. He looked at the car immediately, and I was in and out in five minutes. He gave me some very reasonably priced options, or told me I could cut it off for free and worry about it later. I really appreciated that his priority was helping me, not money. I'm not one to write reviews, but having a mechanic experience like that was really cool.
