El Camino Auto Transmissions in San Jose

I took my 1970 Plymouth Road Runner based on a recommendation from a car buddy. I have been having problems with the clutch pedal being loose and also fighting a chronic oil leak. As soon as he felt the clutch pedal he knew it wasn't right. It was mostly due to old and worn parts that needed replacement. Also was able to diagnose the transmission leak and took it back where I had it rebuilt. I believe the rebuilt transmission leak came about during installation, however Kevin at All Standard Transmission was quick to repair it. I am very picky with my cars, however it turns out that Sergio is pickier than me. He took such great care to protect my car that I will not hesitate to come back in the future. I highly recommend this business.

The owner here is an honest man and that’s hard to find nowadays. I took my Lexus I250 here because my car keeps on jerking right before it makes a complete stop and it was also shifting really hard. I dropped of my car and it was completed in 3 days. It turns out to be something to do with the computer and wiring. I was expecting to having to replace or at the least rebuilt the transmission. So i was really glad it was a smaller project and cheaper.

Sergio was super nice when since the start. My clutch was getting stuck towards the bottom of the pedal. I called and he picked up when they were closed, he was still there and offered to check in with me then. He said it was okay if I left the car and so I did. The day after I called and he said he didn’t feel the problem I was having and so he didn’t want to sell me a part I didn’t need. But I reassured him the only part I hadn’t replaced was the clutch slave cylinder. He was very cool and got it done for me the next day around 3pm. Genuine guy that won’t take advantage of clientele. Definitely coming back if I need transmission work.

Towed car there on 1st of February…. Sergio, does the old bait and switch first one price, then there was a few bolts missing, so price went up. On the 12th I call him and ask where are we at, his response was “we need to get bolts so you need to come in and see what he’s talking about.” I’m like 2 weeks later , my first week back to work with no car. He’s price is going up. I’m like , I’m towing my car out of this nightmare. I waisted 2 of my AAA tows Oh he did offer me to buy car , so I agreed but at time of purchase stated “I didn’t make any money BUT I have a a 2005 convertible, Mustang that needs work and would like to trade. lol I’m like this guy thinks I’m some beginner. I don’t recommend him at all!

Sergio was pleasant to talk to and gave me a reasonable price to replace my clutch and he also did an oil change on my transmission and differential. Only charged me for the oil. I would recommend him to anyone needing any transmission work done. Also his dog (Rambo) is very friendly. I had a great time playing fetch with him while waiting for my truck to get finished up.

Sergio and his crew are the best. I had a check engine light that was misdiagnosed by another mechanic. Then, on my way home, my car stalled out. Completely frustrated, I called a mechanic friend for help. He recommended El Camino Transmission. Sergio was very helpful. He solved the problem by identifying what the first mechanic missed. His pricing is more than fair and he is diligent and professional. He helped fix a few other items in the car and didn't charge me. From now on, El Camino Transmission is our go-to garage!
