Quality Tune Up Car Care in San Jose

Went in for a smog check. My first time here. I went first thing Saturday morning and there was a line. That was a good sign; must be a popular place. I couldn’t wait so went back a couple hours later. While no line, they said it would be two hours. I left my paperwork. They offered to call me, but I went back about 2 hours later and they were ready for me. They said it would take an hour. They finished in about 40 minutes. All around great experience. I’ll definitely go back.

I’ve been taking our cars to this Quality Tuneup on Blossom Hill and Snell for many years. Always a good service team there, with good turn around time for tuneups and smog checks. And, a comfortable waiting room with coffee refreshment if you want to wait for a service. Thanks to the team here.

This was my first time going there, and I was recommended by my dad, but of course walking in and being a woman sometimes I feel like when it comes to car stuff, you can get it taken advantage of, and I have to say when I walked in, looked at all the family photos on the wall that already made me feel super comfortable. He greeted me and I told him what I needed to have done. He asked me how I knew I needed those things done. I told him I went to a dealership and he said that he could check out my car to make sure that what they were telling me was correct because sometimes Dealerships can oversell he said if in fact, it is what you need I will waive the $40 inspection fee and I said wow that’s really nice. Thank you so much I left. He then called me back later to tell me that yes in fact what I needed to have done was correct. He waved the fee and he said I will call you when everything’s complete and I just felt like he was super honest And very friendly. I definitely will be going back for any of my car needs.

First come, first serve. I dropped off my car on a Monday morning and got an oil change within 4 hours, as promised. They have a seating area for customers. Great customer service and professional work, they were friendly and communicative through the whole thing. I will be a returning customer. Thank you!

Quality Auto Tune Up gave my car a seemingly satisfactory oil change that coincided (?) with a new issue. They provided an ineffective fix before reporting they actually could not fix the new problem. I ended up having to repair it on my own in what ended up only taking 15 minutes and a couple screws. More details: The day after an oil change, the splash shield detached from my car’s underside, dragging on the highway until I wedged it back as a makeshift fix. I returned to the garage that afternoon. They prioritized my car (which I appreciated) but said there was an issue with old clips which they did their best to fix. That same evening the splash shield fell down again on the highway while my wife was driving to the airport. Returning to the shop the next day, they told me the issue was totally coincidental (had nothing to do with the oil change) and they could not fix it without ordering a brand new splash shield, but that they would remove it entirely if I waited a few hours and paid a $50 lift fee. I decided I no longer wanted to be a customer, left, and lay down in the parking lot to check out the situation myself. I discovered the shield was plainly missing two screws. After a little internet searching, 10 minutes at an auto shop, and more laying on my back in a parking lot I had everything fixed myself. Even if the splash shield issue was coincidental, I found overall service to be ineffective, inattentive to detail, and unhelpful for repairing a car my family relies on. Other reviews are more positive and the shop is routinely crowded with long waits so maybe they are just overworked? Either way, I will be trying other garages before I come back.

Mike and Deb are very customer oriented. I arrived later in the afternoon without any time for them to address my need before the end of the day. Deb set me up with an order for the first place in line for the next day. The stated a time that the car would be ready and it was. However while servicing the car they noticed some additional work that need to be done and call me to explain. I gladly accepted the offer to continue and address the issue. Again I was told it would 45 minutes to complete and it was.

Quality Tune Up is my go to shop for everything. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Oil changes, sensors, check engine light, and many other things.
