I ordered a tire and placed a deposit. After several trips to the shop, they mistakenly ordered the wrong tire. During this time, I never received any updates on my order. After several months, the tire finally arrived, and I brought my rim without a tire mounted on it. To my surprise, they charged me a five-dollar tire disposal fee, even though I had no tire to dispose of. I called the business to discuss this issue, but they refused to waive the disposal fee. I would not recommend this tire shop.
Out of 5 shops that were too busy /refused because of size of tires 245/35/18 in Santa Cruz, these guys not only changed my tires for a decent price and fast but did it after hours. Will use again if in the area. Thanks for helping a guy out.
They list services as Smog Check but they dont . Don't waste your time
The mechanics here are honest and hard working. I needed a smog check and was charged and failed by another smog station because they couldn’t locate the catalyst converter label number so I went here instead. After they took a look at the catalyst converter, they informed me it was dirty that’s why the label number wasn’t visible. It turned out the previous smog station that failed me was just being lazy. They didn’t want to do the extra work of cleaning the converter so they could clearly see the label. Im not one to get angry but I was a little angry at the fact the smog station that failed me was being lazy. I will not name the place since one workers laziness does not define the whole place but I will not be going to that smog station ever nor will I recommend it to my friends and family. I should have went to Royal Oaks Auto Repair in the beginning, I would have saved a lot of time.
Terrible. Our van transmission failed and we had to be towed to their shop. They kept the van for three months. Poor communication. Made excuses for the lengthy delay. Charged 3k, and the transmission failed within ten minutes of leaving the shop. We are back to square one. If hey had communicated “this job is not within our abilities” From the get go we would have taken it elsewhere. Now we have gone months without being able to tow our trailer for camping and they’re not refunding the 3k we paid. We paid for inconvenience and delay. Do not go to this place!
(cross-posted from my yelp account) I'm not great with cars, which sucks because I drive an old, secondhand, uncommon car (its a 2000 Chrysler). At the end of March, I was driving up back to UC Santa Cruz from Southern California for spring quarter. After about 350 miles of driving, only 20 miles away from Santa Cruz, white smoke started coming out of the hood of my car. My coolant was leaking and I couldn't drive my car more than a minute without the smoke starting up again. It was past 3 PM on a Sunday, so most places were closed. After making a few calls to several auto shops to no avail, Royal Oaks picked up. Despite it being just about closing time, they offered to come tow my car and take it to the shop. (I ended up getting a lift the rest of the way back to Santa Cruz.) They were quick to check my car the next day (Monday) and I had a diagnosis and price quote by noon. Turns out my radiator was busted and needed to be replaced. I also had a nail in one of my tires, apparently. They told me it'd cost $620 altogether for the tow, repair, and tire patch. Again, I don't know much about cars, but looking online and seeing that radiator repairs can be up to $900, I thought their price was reasonable. Repairs were completed by the end of the day on Monday, but I wasn't available to go pick it up til Tuesday. I went in, my car was running fine again, tire patched, coolant topped off, and I paid exactly what I was quoted - no upcharges. I won't lie, the negative reviews scared me quite a bit, and I was hesitant to leave my own review right away in case the repairs didn't hold up, but I can say that my experience was quite pleasant. TL;DR: Had a car emergency on a Sunday, needed a tow and a new radiator. Royal Oaks helped me even though they ended up working past closing on the weekend. Price quote seemed reasonable, car was fixed in less than a day, and I paid what I expected to pay. For an auto shop, that's good enough for me.
Given fee of $100.00 for diagnostic. When I came to pick up my truck they charged me $200.00 without my consent for additional work. Nothing but thieves .so don't believe the reviews. Probably related to staff...poor customer service this is a better business claim definently...
I went in for the installation of new tires for my car. The job didn't take an hour. When I went to clean the tires and wheels I noticed a large dent on one of the wheels. I called the tire installer out on the damage. (The wheels have a crimped on stainless Liner and it somehow got buckled). Most likely from mishandling the wheel during removal/installation of the tires. The man refused to take any kind of responsibility. Take your needs to a shop that cares for your ride. I'm done dealing with mediocre people.
