Mechanics will assault you. Manager claims hell sue for changing his frame of mind The old owner and daughter seem to be on it and trying to find REAL employees. Keep it simple, talk to the office staff. The mechanics huff too much brake cleaner

Rip off dont use them. I now have to pay for a second smog because they failed my car and charged me and said to drive around for 30 minutes and come back so they can charge me another 60 bucks to re-smog my car. So basically they want to charge me 120 f that.

Brought my vehicle in for smog. Pickup was working great before I brought it in. After my smog my vehicle started driving very rough and had to get fixed by a mechanic. They over inflated my tires to almost 50psi 35psi is what my tires needed. Im never going back to that dump again.

I take my car here for all my auto care. They do smog, oil changes & major work. They are friendly & always give my car excellent service. They are very honest with giving good advice & will not do unnecessary work. Im disabled, they are respectful & have wheelchair access with handicapped parking. I higly recommend this shop for anyone.

My daughter went in for smog test, SMOG TEST and they told her there was something illegal on the smog system and they wouldnt let her take her car. Then they gave her a quote of $408 but found a wire on the main relay that they HAD to fix. The guy that helped my daughter kept saying he would take of her because he has daughters. He did unauthorized repairs!!!! Bill was $524.82!!!! I am a retired mechanic who owned my own business and had to earn the respect of my customers. This give honest shops a really bad name!!!!

A+++++ Incredible service! I arrived at 4:30 and they had taken their last customer for the day. The front desk lady, super kind, told me to go talk to Gabe in the back. Gabe was amazing! Im traveling from out of state and needed emissions test to renew my registration. He looked online at what was needed and took time to make sure I would have the right certificate to send back to Arizona! Above and Beyond! Not only that, they took my car and did the smog test even though it was late! I had had a long week and this gift of fitting me in was a huge blessing! Best customer service, friendly and funny employees and very helpful! Ill tell everyone I know to go to A-1 Smog! Thanks team!

I had my truck smoged there year after year. This last time i was told there was an illegal part on it. They have smoged this truck numerous times in the past just the way it is now. Now they have a tech who thinks he knows it all and rejected it . There is better places in town with better amd more educated techs than this. Get more for your money somewhere else.

A trust worthy mechanic shop and we all know how hard that can be to find.

These guys were very thorough and went above and beyond when they did the brake and light inspection. They pointed out some issues that had nothing to do with why the vehicle was brought in. I decided to bring it back on friday and was told that it would be ready but they ordered the wrong part so i was then told it would ready Tuesday. I drove down there tuesday and i live in weed which is an hour drive. They tried to say that they told me Wednesday but that s incorrect. My vehicle still was waiting on the part and was told to call today Wednesday after 11am, i called at noon and was told he needed to verify it was the right fit and would call me back in 45 minutes . I waited an hour and 20 minutes so i called them back and was told he was out driving a vehicle, that they would have him call, waited another hour and a half then called again to be told he wasn t available and its now 3:00. I am really irritated and getting angry that they cant follow through with what they say. I wont be bring my business back to them. I dont have a way to get down there after today so thanks for making it more difficult for me. Its not like my boyfriend can afford to take a days off work to give me a ride

brent the owner is a greedy had to have a lamp and brake inspec. for dmv his other shop said i had bulbs out and e brake needed inspec. so they sent me to his shop. funny he was at that other shop when i was there. quated 597.00 for e brake pads and said had for 4 bubs out. once they got it on the rack and replaced the e brake came back said my headlight is loose and i need a bracket 405.00, tailight had a bb hole need to be replaced 65.00. charged 120.00 to replace 4 bulbs that maybe took 10 mins. plus they were used. signed three different quates and walked out of there with a 1395.00 bill . plus they charge 3% to use a debit card i should of reed his reviews because i am not the first one that he over charged. going rate e brake pads 275.00 f-350 taillight 32.00 charged 65.00 headlight bracket 88.95 charged 165.00 plus labor 240.00 there are plenty of honest shops and if i was you i would recommend useing one of them. can say one good thing the mechanic was a nice guy to bad you work for him.

I always get my vehicle smog checks done here. Their price is reasonable, and I usually get in and out pretty quickly. I did have them check some engine vibration issues. It took a little while to get to the bottom of the problem, but they stuck with it and did the proper research and fixed the problem. I am happy with the repairs. I will use them in the future.

Ive had several vehicles smogged here. They are a very straight forward, no nonsense business.

I dont like leaving negative reviews but I have no choice this time. I took my car into A1 on North Market Street to have a new TPS sensor installed in my 87 El Camino. I brought in the new sensor and carburetor gasket kit. My car was running fine when I brought it in but it had a check engine light on and I needed it off to pass smog. I went to pick-up my car and as I drove up the Market street hill my car was sputtering and had absolutely no power. I called the office but the mechanic was not available for some reason so now since this was a Friday I had to wait until Monday to address the issue as well as not being able to drive my car all weekend. I called Monday morning and the lady told me someone would call me back shortly. Nobody called me so I called back a couple hours later and spoke to Gabe who told me to bring thee car back in and they would diagnose it. They ended up telling me the brand new TPS sensor was damaged and they happened to have an old one out of the same type of carburetor which they installed and the engine light was now off. He assured me thst my car was running fune now. I picked up my car and drove it up the hill once more and it was only at about 70 percent still. Very frustrated at this point. I called to speak to the owner and was told he would call me back. Never heard from him so I wrote him a letter but have never received a response. So I ended up paying for repair work only to have my car returned to me in worse shape than when I brought it in. They may be OK for slogging but I would be hesitant in having any repair work done there. Not a very professional way to do business.

It was quick fast and easy. The lady at the desk was amazing! She made me feel so comfortable and she was very helpful.

The receptionist lost my dmv renewal paperwork and put my info on someone elses account. As I sat and waited I heard all this and more going on. There was gossip about a customer sitting next to me, then the receptionist mentioned that she ran someones payment for $400 when it was supposed to be $40. As I listened to all this I watched my car sit in the lot from my dash cam untouched for 45 minutes while no other customers were ahead of me. Then finally a masked mechanic gets in my car, removes his mask as soon as hes in the garage. The women behind the desk also wore no masks. My vehicle passed, but I will not be going back here. A few days after going here my car began making a creeking sound like something was loose. I now have to take it to another mechanic. I regret ever letting these people touch my car.

This is a great place for smog and repairs. I ve been using them for about 6 years and needed work done on my diesel. Fair prices, great service and the staff are amazing from the front desk to the technicians. I ve been using the Bechelli Lane branch but Brent has great staff at both locations.

Called First. She said they were slow, come on in, it should only take about 30 minutes. 3 hrs 22 mins later my smog check was done. 2hrs into it is when my truck was taken to begin. Thats what made me irritated.

Best Auto Repair shop in Redding - no doubt in my mind!! Had to get a bunch of work done on my 2002 Toyota Corolla to pass the Smog Test. Brent was super helpful and patient with it all every step in the way! Couldnt get a more honest, competent, and friendly mechanic than Brent. Will definetly be coming back around with my ridiculous Bernie-mobile car for future work. And thanks again Brent!

My visit was fine. However I m sure other customers there won t say the same. The office lady embarrassed a customer in front of everyone else in the waiting room by calling her the breathalyzer lady (her car had a breathalyzer in it). The way they drove vehicles to and from the shop bays was reckless. They drove way to fast, especially since there parking lot is so torn up. It was rather unprofessional.

They had no line and quick sevice.

Took my truck for a smog a few weeks ago, had just replaced a valve on it and had to unhook the battery and at the time was unaware that you have to do some driving after the battery is unplugged before a smog, a smog shop knowing this straight up asks me if we ve recently done any work or unhooked the battery and I said yes and explained, they did the smog anyway and charged me even tho it was not ready, gave us a list of ridiculous driving scenarios to do, we did them and took the truck back 3 different times to be told not ready. Today I take my truck to Richards Auto on lake Blvd they read the same code and said there s still a 90% chance it will pass would you like me to try for you, smogged it, it passed and I was out of there in 30 minutes! Ridiculous, would not recommend A1 unless you have a vehicle that your sure will pass!

I asked to have my headlights adjusted and they did not adjust them using any kind of mechanical means they just eyeball them which is not a correct adjustment.

Called the office and was told they could smog my vehicle today. I get there and and wait 20-30 mins then get told they dont have time for me today. Ill never be back!

Airtight one of them mechanics was extremely rude and almost hit me with another customers vehicle, the service inside and timing upon description was accurate. A little kindness goes along ways and the lasts has me in n out when it was busy in about an hour. They should relay to the older mechanic that a little kindness and less road rage would help alot!!!!

Just had my smog done and it passed but I left and the check engine light came on so I took it back and he made some suggestions about faulty parts my engine light has never came on and all the sudden its on and he says its something wrong with the car??? Im berry mad and going to check into BBB to file a report!!!

Went in for repairs to my water pump. Cost quite a bit over market price, took longer than I was told because wrong parts were ordered, and the serviceman got into a fender bender in my car when test driving it. Safe to say I wont be back.

I pulled in and received the worst greeting the employee whom name i shale leave out .was all over the way we parked he was yelling at my son and i for pulling into a parking space because we were a little over the white line.So I said ok I am sorry .I told my son to park in the handicap parking space this man starts yelling at me again before he even checks to see if Im handicapped or 100% disabled .the facts are i am 100 percent disabled i pulled into this local business to get my truck smoged and was treated this way.not a very good way to keep business. On the other hand the management said that they are going to handle this problem.

I was a walk in. Motor vehicle did not send me my renewal of registration. I also need a smog check. So I went on line paid my regeneration. Then went to get smoged. I did not have smog paperwork. But A-1 Smog was able to do it. After I passed, I thought I have to go to dmv to get 2021 tags. Nope. A-1 was able to send it to dmv. Then dmv sent my inspection 2021 stickers and current registration. Good deal. Been using A-1 smog since I moved her 2012.

Initial observation was baffling. Though there was a sign on the door requiring face coverings, once I entered, there was one customer, 3 employees.. no one wearing masks. Fortunately, the tech that worked on my vehicle wore one. The other 4+ techs in the service area did not. Service was great, but this adversity to public safety, in a purple zone county, was not acceptable, and so easy to rectify, and save lives...

Excellent! The front desk staff was very friendly and very patient. They did a great job of squeezing me in for a smog check without an appointment. Even though they were very busy, the smog check only took 30m.

Well this is the first smogging that I ever had to get. We dident do that in Tennessee where I am from. Guess we need to see how polluted we really are. The folks that work here are more than great....and super nice too. I was in and out quicker than butter could melt on grits.

Apparently, at A1, if your efan is on a switch, they fail you before they even look at your rig. Luckily, the very next place I went, wasnt concerned with switches and fans.

They were very fast got in and out with exception of computers being down when I first got there but they took care of it and got me in and out.They were polite and good customer care.

Rude smog technician!!! They need to teach customer service to their technicians just because there s not cars to smog. I was the only truck there so I took my business elsewhere where at least won t get an attitude from the technicians!!!
