Really quick and efficient experience. Rolled in for an early bird Saturday morning. Pretty busy already but Lindsay made it easy and moved us through. The boys handled it and I drop off less than an hour later. Thanks for the great service!! 👍
The people there were really nice and they did my smog test really quickly but I was there early in the morning. If u go there in the afternoon they do have coffee and a vending machine to at least quench ur thirst if ur there super long
Went there at noon. It was not a bad place. They have waiting chairs, vending machines and coffee. Only wish I knew there was a early bird discount.
I've been here 2 times in 2 years, both times for my Smog test. Both times the staff is extremely nice and professional. Service is quick and efficient.
Stopped in to drop off a vehicle, never been to this chain before. I parked the car to get some direction only to be Greeted by an I'll tempered and very loud elderly man yelling at me asking if I can read the sign - that they had facing into the interior of the garage and couldn't be seen from the street frontage. The woman working reception was slightly less prickly, but only by comparison. I can assure you that had this not been a drop off for my employer I would have left immediately. I can equally assure you that I will tell anybody looking for a smog check to avoid this chain like the plague. 0/0 stars
Let my paperwork& keys sit there for 30 minutes extra.. AC blowing on my Chick long dark hair( not the younger girl) says next time come up and check.. WhatYh🤷🏼♀️ soooo in 2 years.. gotcha ,(How about be a better person) which I did not say to her because I am a nice person! A 65 yr old woman I am very sensitive to poor treatment. She won't see me again
There should be negative reviews for these crooks they will literally steal out of your vehicle they stole fishing bait from my front seat they stole money and then to cover their tracks they wouldn't smog my vehicle which has been there ever since I bought it it's a 2004 has the same pipes on it it's always had and they say now that the pipes are too big for it the laws didn't change these people are absolute crooks shady as all can be everybody I know that's gone to them has been ripped off and stolen from they should be reported to the police do not go here ever!
BEWARE———BEWARE————-,Brent the owner is a greedy guy !!!!!!! Had to have a lamp and brake inspec. for dmv his other shop said i had bulbs out and e brake needed inspec. so they sent me to his shop. funny he was at that other shop when i was there. quated 597.00 for e brake pads and said had for 4 bubs out. once they got it on the rack and replaced the e brake came back said my headlight is loose and i need a bracket 405.00, ( no headlight adjustment after install) tailight had a bb hole says need to be replaced 65.00. charged 120.00 to replace 4 bulbs that maybe took 10 mins. plus they were used. signed three different quotes when it was on rack and walked out of there with a 1395.00 bill . plus they charge 3% to use a debit card i should of read his reviews because I am not the first one that he over charged. Going rate e brake pads 275.00 f-350 taillight 32.00 charged 65.00 headlight bracket 88.95 charged 165.00 plus labor 240.00 there are plenty of honest shops I would recommend useing one of them. Can say one good thing the mechanic was a nice guy to bad you work for him. This is what my headlights look like way out of alignment. READ THE OTHER FOLKS REVIEW IF YOU NEED WORK ON YOUR VEHICLE THIS GUY IS A GOUGER.

Great shop. I have been bringing my vehicles here since 2015 and I have always had a good experience with the shop and employees. Members of staff are friendly and knowledgeable and if for some reason you dont pass smog they will give you a comprehensive explanation as to why. Location itself is always clean. There is a small sitting area with (cash-only) snack/soda machines and plenty of ready material.

Well... Have to replace the compressor again. Cant say as to why, pulley issue, workmanship.. dont know but what I have learned through all this is I paid double here than what the dealership $2400 I did get all OEM. Ill go elsewhere this time. I doubt Ill be leaving with a broken fog light no one mentioned. Still glad I had air for that heatwave... but this one .nope... never stupid enough again not to shop around.... That is 100% on me. The compressor lasted 1 year 1 week. Car was done late and not inexpensive as it was auto repair not smog. HOWEVER...I am thankful air in my 08 Mazda ia fully functioning... Assured all are OEM parts so we know why it wasnt cheap.... Would be 5 star if I hadnt gotten it an extra day late, after it was dropped off a day early and they had 7 days, while I was away, to do the work already. I dont live in this town I am 60 miles away and no way to get car later.... hence the week I was away... Work was scheduled. Sooo...4 stars as it got done, it works, and not overheating so its done correctly, Honestly during a heatwave that bay is hot I imagine and hard to work full day in it. I was told estimate was the high end and it was. Last I would have offered at least a 5% discount for the fact it was not just behind but not even started after 7 days without even 1 phone call from them.i had to call each time except the actual completion call. I was not offered old parts or to see them. Maybe they dont have to do that anymore. Well... Have to replace the compressor again. The service attitude here is very good, honest and enthusiastic, and the car repair technology is also very good. I highly recommend coming here for car smog inspection and repairs !

Been going to this place for years with my intake boot taped (it had a small crack in it). Car has passed smog here every single time and although it passed emissions they failed me for this part being taped. Fair enough, I went to the auto parts store and fixed it within the hour and they made me pay another $40 to smog it again. Could have just told me to go fix it real quick and come back. They will nickel and dime you!

New to CA....called this company to ask them the price and availability to do an Emission/ Smog on a 2018 Luxury Car and they told me the price. I was getting ready to head over there when I decided to call a few other places....on my fourth call, the gentleman at Placer asked me why I am doing a Smog on that kind of car and then he told me that I am not required to do one...thanks to Placer Smog, I was able to save my time and money....

Only place that I know thats open Saturday. Get in at 7am Sat. In and out. Slogged 2nd vehicle that I was buying from private seller. Did not have to, but mentioned some concerns on the vehicle.

Very knowledgeable, smooth interaction. Very professional. Would recommend this shop over any other smog shops. They do from 1976-up and everything in between. I always feel that theyre fair and honest. Never trying to get you to pay for anything you dont need.

Do not bring your manual transmission cars here unless you drive the car into the shop yourself or give it to someone who knows how to drive a manual at the shop they have a younger guy there who will smoke your clutch if you let him drive it in and out. Above all I do not appreciate a shop that allows someone to learn to drive manual transmissions on customer vehicles!!
lovely family owned business, hard working people, they will not pass a car or truck if it has any issue by the state law, which means there a great shop. a lot people dont understand the laws on smogs which is why you can see the some negative reviews but if they knew the laws they wouldnt complain. there following the state rules, dont like it blame California or move outta California.

Id gone two other places in hopes of getting my car smogged but my connection for the OBD2 was pretty finicky so I was told I would have to pay 250$ in order to fix it. .. I informed them at A1 about my troubles and they made it happen for me.. super greatful.

Wont take my vehicles anywhere but A-1 Smog! You guys are the absolute best smog shop in the entire North State in my opinion. Thank you to the manager/owner (back office guy) for helping me with my problematic Silverado that couldnt pass smog by normal means. Specifically, thank you for doing the online research and finding the steps to get the O2 sensor to clear. Much appreciated, thanks again.
A1 will waste your time! I was there for nearly 2 hours because the lady working the front desk failed to let me know my car was ready. It was completely unacceptable. I had to eventually approach the front to ask about my vehicle only to be told it was ready, after sitting in the same spot in the waiting area for the entire time I was there. Wont be going back to this location any time soon. Complete failure of customer service and caring about your customers time.
They were fast this morning and they are friendly they have coffee in the waiting room vending machine to get snacks while youre waiting I was there within less than an hour and then out the door I highly recommend it to everybody

Very friendly staff and quick service. Get there early because theres usually a line, particularly on Saturdays. Reasonably priced with no markup evident like a lot of other places. From check-in to getting back in my car after the smog was less than 20 minutes. Definitely going to be my go-to smog shop in the Redding area. They do have an early bird special if youre looking for a discount.

I may be a little biased but I am thinking I have been using A-1 since the early 90s. Your first car out of high school, or truck in California will include a smog. Ive been here many times and theyve never let me down, fast friendly and knowledgeable.

They are pretty fast. It really depends on what time you get there. Early is always good cause the have the early bird special. But that always me a good amount of people will be there early as well.
We brought our 32ft. RV in for a smog and I tell you their customer service is excellent! The service was superb, everything was done in a very timely manner they went above and beyond for us. We highly recommend them.
Fast and friendly. The woman at the counter was nice and efficient. Checked me right in, took my keys and they went to work on the smog check. Even though it was a bit busy, I dont think I was even there for more than twenty minutes before I was out the door with a passed inspection. Most likely will come back again.

Horrible customer service at this A-1. I was there before they opened. When I went in there, guy says We cant do anything, our office person is not here. People keep showing up and their desk person finally shows up. Every single person that came after me, shes putting in before me, just totally ignores me. I give these guys my clown award which I dont give out very often.
Quick, affordable, and friendly staff. This place is so convenient to access also. Had our RV smogged there without an appointment. It was super easy to park this giant box, and also to drive it out of there, due to their excellent parking area. They also have a comfortable waiting room with coffee, and senior and early bird discounts.

In and out very quickly
My grandmother and I were driving through from Oakland, California to Eugene, Oregon and our Subaru forester broke down on a Saturday. We had to go through a big mess of trying to find places that were open and could help. Called A-1 and the front desk woman was extremely kind and helpful and told us they don t do repairs on weekends but the mechanic agreed to look at it and try to help if they could. The mechanic Lee went above and behind even as far as using his own vehicle to get the part we needed and fixed it so that we could drive home THAT day! He was so helpful and explained everything during the fixing process. I absolutely recommend using this smog and repair shop and Lee definitely deserves a raise!

Waited ten to get someone to help They took the only guy not waiting first Took a half hour longer than they said and was ten more than there listed their prices listed clearly on the wall and it didn t pass Ten dollar discount the next time And when I came to get it my window was down and they didn t give me a pereira to say what was wrong or even pass fail. Find someone else. Not worth it. Try smog masters on 273

I had to get my car smogged. I was in and out in 35 minutes, no appointment needed. The waiting area had plenty of room and a hot pot of coffee. The woman at the front desk (I cant remember her name) was very nice. I will likely return to this location for any future work Ill need done. I hope my future experience is as good as this one.

It cost $46.50 to smog my van. I believe appointments before 9 get 4 bucks off on the early bird special. I arrived shortly after opening and was in and out in maybe 15min. One man showed up when I was waiting on a Friday no less!!! I have heard a lot of complaints about this place. I dont know anything about their actual repair work. All I know is that I have gotten a great fairly quick smog every single time. Even when they are slammed Ive maybe been there 45 minutes which I feel is a realistic! Their counter staff are very friendly. Their mechanics are men and I know from personal friends that its not the best job on your body so I dont expect them to be happy and perky all the time as long as they do the job theyre paid for and they do. Ive had a smog here four or five times now Never had a problem. The one time I was throwing a code that wasnt showing up on my reader wasnt charged anything and they explained to me how to reset the code. It wasnt as simple as they or even my mechanics suspected until I had a diagnostic ran But thats fine. Not everything is as simple as it wants to be.

They were busy and had one of their smog techs out of the shop but still got us taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. Always friendly staff and seem to be busy no matter when we come by.
They were friendly, polite, super fast, and very helpful with providing me with other information on a separate topic. They had a nice, clean waiting area with complimentary water or coffee and a soda machine. I didnt have to stand around, outside in the hot sun for almost an hour,( even though I had an appointment) like the last place I got a smog done. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

Very quick service easy process and although my vehicle did not pass the first time they were able to help me get through the emissions issues and gave me the pointers of how many times the vehicle had to have cold starts before I reran for my retest. They got me a back into my retest and out the door in about 20 minutes

Very friendly and helpful staff; they were slammed since it was Saturday, but yet still got me through in a timely manner. Front desk service was very exceptional and kind! They made sure I had everything I needed/wanted done, and did not push a ton of products on me that I didnt need, as many other places do.

Really great service. One piece of advise. Have your license plate and the cars miles ready when you walk in. Will save you time waiting. I wanted to buy a battery and have them install it. That didnt happen because the manager sent the techs over to the market st. Facility. I would have taken the truck to market st. But they are not open on Saturdays. So why didnt they have that tech over at bechelli on Saturdays. Lost money that day. Manager needs to manage better. Other than that, went smoothly.
Passed smog two times at this location in the last four years. Today I was told my catalytic converter was incorrect for my model vehicle. This is the same catalytic converter that I passed with the last two times. If I was told initially that it was incorrect I could have went back to the exhaust shop and requested a replacement. Poor attention to detail.

Web site says closes at 4 p.m. However, when I called the recording said closes at 6pm, no one answered. So I drove from Anderson to Redding after work to find out they are closed. Please up date your message. I was not happy for I could have just showed up on Saturday. Thank you.
The mechanics here are excellent and the prices are fairest around! You will never be overcharged!
