I recently moved to Paso Robles, and Im so glad I found Matts! The staff were friendly, courteous, and clear on pricing. I made an appointment for a smog check, and the whole process took about 45 minutes. They did recommend a couple other services, but did not pressure me to get those done right away. I also had my infant with me, and I love that I was able to sit in the lobby with him in the stroller, pick out a couple childrens books from their shelves, and read to him while we waited. I will definitely be coming back to Matts for my future auto needs!

Matt s crew mechanics and I took care of my air conditioner did a brake job and fix my exhaust bolts are broken. Did a great job and the whole team was good and budget friendly thanks, Matt.

I have had a vehicle for 7 years that has had nothing but problems with passing a smog test. I finally took it to Matts and boom. Problem fixed, passed smog. Matt and his team went above and beyond to work with my budget and were friendly and professional- and I will never go anywhere else. Matts is legit and the best local shop in town!

I had them perform a safety check on my car and they did an excellent job, finding and showing me hard to see minor leaks and tiny stress fractures in my bumper. I am very happy with Matts smog and repair shop. Several times they have squeezed me in for repairs, smogs and checks. Very friendly and honest, very good. I recommend his shop to everyone.

I wasnt here for a service today, just a friendly chat and good company. If you need a job, they are looking for some extra help. Matts smog and Car Care have always taken care of our vehicles, and when I bring up a concern, they are quick to address and diagnose it.. If you are looking for an honest mechanic, this is the place. Brought our car in for a smog test and to checkout noises while driving. Matt and his guys thoroughly checked out the car and determined it was fine. It s our second car that we rarely drive, our main car is a quiet EV so maybe we are just noise sensitive now. Matt only charged for the smog test. This is a great place to take your car and get quality and honest service.

Matt called my mom at 7pm to tell her he would not fix her vehicle unless she paid for gas for him so drive the vehicle for at least 30 minutes to clear codes after she already accumulated $700 to repair her vehicle. Matt s employee called my mom while consistently interrupting her and ask permission to fix her vehicle which she agreed with and stated they would call her back within the hour. My mom was asking questions to see what needed to be done to her vehicle and was hung up on.Then Matt did not fix it or call back in a timely manner. My mom called back on several occasions with no response. At 7pm Matt called and told me I had no common sense when I asked questions about the invoice that was not receive and when I questioned him about why he had to drive the vehicle and why we were not made aware that it was low on gas when the vehicle had been there for 6days being driven and worked on. If one or two gallons of gas are the deciding factor on weather or not a shop will complete work on a 65 year old woman vehicle then I would recommend finding an alternative shop to do your work. I came to this service completely by accident. I didnt plan my visit in advance. This service is closest to my work and I used my break to check the cars emissions levels. To my great surprise, they did not make an appointment for another day, but immediately offered to undergo a smog test. My car passed the test and I was pleased with the speed of service, quality of service and, most importantly, the price. The prices at this service station are really affordable and attractive. Friendly technicians and had an appointment for me when other places were too busy. Unfortunately, I failed the idle smog test. This MAY have been partly due to the fact that my car sat 20 minutes idling (cooling off; it s known that my vehicle type cools off quickly at idle) while the tech chatted with me. I appreciated his friendliness and eagerness to explain how everything worked, but would have also been happier to have passed. Anyway, it can be fixed and they were kind about having a discounted rate if I come back to get the car rechecked after repairs.

Bought a new RV and needed a quick and reasonably priced place to get a SMOG. They got us in same day for a reasonable price. Others wanted to charge us over a $100 because it was an RV. Matts changed us the regular price based on parts, oil and labor. Very nice and efficient. Would higy recommend.

I rarely write reviews, but this place deserves a great one. I had never used Matt s Smog, but they appeared to be the popular choice in Paso Robles. I called and spoke with a very friendly girl who was able to schedule me at my desired time. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and chose seats by a large rack filled with activities for kids. This probably means nothing to most, but any mother of young kids knows how quickly our little darlings can become little demons at service appointments. However, my daughter didn t have time to get bored. Everything was done before we knew it. I will definitely be returning to Matt s Smog for any future needs.

Only been here for smog and a battery replacement, but Matts service and knowledge is exemplary. Battery replacement in a BMW can be tricky but Matt was well versed in the required nuances.

Very good experience. My vans emissions control system had just been reprogrammed and reset so it failed. They took the time to explain how to cycle the system. Couple of days later I went back and passed.

I couldnt have been happier with Matts they were quick and kept me in the loop every step of the way even saved me some money where they could I was already so much money into getting my engine light off else where .. and finally I was recommended to matts and they took care of it smoothly quickly and even checked up on me after the visit definitely will recommend these guys

I trusted Matt with my truck because he has worked on my truck before. Never again! Whatever mechanic worked on my truck lied about what he did. Says he used 3 cans of degreaser due to all the oil. My truck may have leaked 1 drop a week! I climbed under the truck and nothing was cleaned. Oil and grease yes, but after being in there for many Years! Yep, still there and never cleaned! Was I charged, yes for 3 cans and $114 in labor! 100% unacceptable! I will never trust Matts mechanics again nor will I recommend anyone to use his services. Sorry Matt!

I had a vehicle that failed the test at another shop and were not able to make the repairs. I took the failed test and let Matt know. They made the minor repair and passed.

Took my truck in for smog test, it failed. Was given appointment within days and work was completed and it passed. Matt called me the next day to check if the truck was running good. I had a minor issue and they took my truck in and fixed it right away. No problems since. Its running great again. Thanks Matt for the follow up. Great customer service. :)

Matts Smog and Car Repair has become a go-to place for me. First my #2;granddaughter needed fast repair work on her Lexus Air Conditioner on a 108° day in Paso Robles with her 6 month old son in the car. Matts did a great job for me. Next it was my #3 granddaughter with a radiator leak that turned into a broken water pump. It was not an easy fix. First dealing with the leak and then discovering the water pump. This was on my old 2007 VW 2.5 liter 5 cylinder Jetta. Matt came through again. They are good at what they do on my cars.

Did a good job fixing my AC. He also found a very dirty and clogged cabin filter (who knew?) and replaced it too. Inside air quality improved dramatically. Do this, youll be glad to spend a few extra bucks, especially if you have allergies. Matt texted a few days later to follow up and see how things were. Nice touch. Prices average for the area. Hint: book in advance, especially in summer months.

Not only did they smog my truck, but they thoroughly inspected it & took the time to explain repairs & maintenance needed which i have put off for quite awhile. I have been to Matts twice and both times were excellent. This most recent my car initially failed smog due to a sensor not being activated, Matt told me exactly how to enable the sensor and lent me a tool to do so fitting me in between other clients to really my car. I HIGHLY recommend Matts.
