I went to get a smog which failed due to monitors which is a very easy check prior to doing a smog. They can easy tell if the smog will fail but will run it still just to take a quick $50. Front lady was a jerk about it too. Find another place for a smog!!
They legit left my oil cap off and I didn’t realize until I got home. Was sitting on battery
Brought my Jeep Grand Cherokee in. They did a very poor job and it cost me over 3 grand. After the repair, the problems were still there. And in addition, they broke something and we also had to pay for it! Very rude and unfriendly.
Tried getting my vehicle in for a smog on a Saturday, called multiple times with no answer. At the time, I lived next door so I walked down to inquire in person. Guy working said he doesn't answer any phones, and only takes calls on his personal cellphone. He also said he only takes cash on Saturdays, since he isn't "authorized" to use the card reader. Seems shady at best, and is very likely the guy there is working off the books. Not worth taking any vehicle to, especially if something goes wrong. They've done decent (albeit expensive) work on another vehicle of mine, but they were so disorganized that they almost lost all of my DMV paperwork that was associated with the vehicle, and also neglected to put a service tag on my windshield after the oil change.
This business is by far the most dangerous business to take your vehicle to. According to all the employees and the owner it is absolutely the best place most professional and most trustworthy shop in the area. It is also spoken very highly of by the owner and workers but when you get your bill and realize that you've been charged for them doing nothing according to a 25-second diagnostic you see that you have been bamboozled. This shop was previously located in another location and claims to have been in business for 30 years using a Bosch professional diagnostic scanner which ensures to scan any vehicle in its entirety in 25 seconds or less but are charging people for multiple hours. After video surveillance of time invested on said vehicle, it is assured that this shop is not the most honest. Video footage of time spent on diagnostic on a certain vehicle ,that was charged 2 hours was only looked at for 16 minutes. Shame shame....... on beachfront Auto and smog. I promise Justice will be served on this one..... Brace yourselves BEACHFRONT AUTO..... A time lapse video of time invested, with be posted in the future.... Got ummm!!!!!
I had my vehicle towed to the shop and spoke with the new owner Mike, seemed very nice and knowledgeable. He's daughter was working in the office, also seemed polite at the time. I received a phone call from the daughter 2 days later which was okay. I wasn't in a hurry. She began giving me the estimate of repairs. I kindly asked, if I could wait on one of the repairs. She then transfered me to Sharon I believe that was her name. Sharon advised me that both repairs were needed at this time. Then I asked if it's possible if I could buy the parts and save a couple hundred dollars. She sure but "I NEED THE PARTS IN 15 MINUTES OR I'M PUSHING YOUR CAR OUT!!" I told I couldn't make in 15 minutes but I could be there in 30 minutes. So I arrived at the parts store to pick up and pay for them. The clerk said they had already delivered the parts to the shop. So I called the shop and spoke with Sharon, because I was confused. I explained to her that the parts were delivered and it was the only ones they had in stock. Her reply was "FORGET IT, JUST COME AND PICK UP YOUR TRUCK. I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!!!" The clerk was able to locate the parts at another location and have them delivered later in the day. So I went to the shop to confront Sharon of her rudeness attitude, and told her the parts will be in this afternoon. I picked up my truck 2 days later, walked in and paid. No communication, no thank you straight out nothing. Take your service to Tom's in Arroyo Grande!!
Hand downs the best auto shop in the area. Amazingly kind guys, we spent quite few hours having some issues with our camper van and with our 3 year old girl, not only it didn’t bothered to them but they gave her coloring books, the remote control to see some cartoons and even French fries! If you have this service you will think that they will overcharge people but was the opposite, first time that a car shop doesn’t want to rip off this traveler family and we are more than thankful!
I went there on a suggestion from a friend of mine Skip. I have never been to their business before. When I arrived they took all of my information on my truck that needed to be smoged for the upcoming registration. They told me it would be $49 dollars total. The connected it to the computer and 5 minutes later they told me it passed with no problem. I went to the office to pay, and get the report for the DMV, and they told me it would only be $43 dollars because they added a coupon for being a first time customer!! I will return, and pass along my satisfaction with their services!! Plus they were very friendly!

I was going to take my car in for a smog and the mechanic was being vary Disrespectful and ignorant I have took many of my cars and trucks here and never had a problem and I asked him why he was being this way and he started going on about this tool in hes hand was 12k (it was a reader) I would go to any other shop even Jeffylube before I ll give them any more money they also have a vary lazy fat Woman and don t seem to like to pick up the phone when they have a lady that jus sits there on here phone doing nothing and can t seem to do her job

I called to request clarification on their appointment policy and the owner s daughter became immediately hysterical and unhinged. Told me I m not welcome at her father s shop. It s unfortunate her mental health issues affect how they treat customers. Will be reporting her behavior.

These guys have done my commercial vehicle and my private car. They have excellent stars which is a reason why I went to them in the beginning and then I learned why. This place is a RIP-OFF. My wife took our vehicle in yesterday for an oil change and smog check. The cost of the smog check was in line with what other places charge, but that cost is regulated. Heres the what they charged her for an oil change: $102.20 for oil + $15.86 for the filter + $40.00 labor + $5.00 hazmat + $8.56 tax. Thats $171.62 for a syn blend oil change. You be the judge. Is this a rip-off?

Jon and Jessica are no longer at this business. Its been sold outside the family and is now owned by a different family and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We overheard customers being lied to while moving our belongings, that Jon is still there and thats not true effect October 1st, 2023. We will truly miss our customers and their families. Jon was the face of Beachfront Auto and he will miss being able to help the community with honest mechanics and advice. Called in to get a price on 1 upstream Oxygen sensor installed. A simple screw in and plug part. $146 dollers. That right there is the problem with this country now. People are all about money even if the job takes 5 minutes or less. I Cant get under my car because I have bad elbows and suffering from gout. People are hurting financially in this country and we are still getting ripped off by our own people.. what happened to Sure, i can get that in for you its only a few minutes Give me 20 bucks Ridiculous

The best
They quoted me $1,300 to stop a fuel leak in my filter housing. A $50 new cap fixed it, there was nothing wrong with the housing. They are hoping you dont get a second opinion. Get a second opinion or dont go here.

I was referred to Beach Front Auto by a friend. John and his staff were very welcoming, good with scheduling and accurately estimated the job. I highly recommend this shop. Ill be bringing my work truck for future repairs. I brought it in for an alignment and front tires, knowing darn well i needed ball joints, tie rod ends, pitmam arm etc. Im a mechanic in a different industry, more than capable of changing everything myself, but Im extremely busy and dont have an alignment machine. So to save time and get it all done at once, i took the recommendation and had Beach Front Auto get me back on the road quickly. They used top quality parts, got the job done right, the first time! Im happy with every aspect of the service and theyre all very friendly and personable. I put a ton of miles on my truck every year, so this is part of routine maintenance for what i do, carrying heavy loads constantly, driving off the paved roads and long distances. I feel very confident in their ability, was impressed with their nationwide warranty and tow coverage. Looking forward to future business with these guys. Too bad you can only give 5 stars. I m glad I chose to go to this business. I am for promoting businesses in my community. I could ve used a coupon and save five dollars going to another location about 3 miles away, but I preferred paying a little more and going to this business where I live in Oceano. My only suggestion is like other automotive businesses, while the customer is waiting it would be great if they could provide a free cup of coffee!

Came in for a smog it was quick and easy to get all the paperwork going unfortunately my car had a problem as I parked and was not able to perform the smog after that but they worked with me to get me set up for the next day that will work perfect for me made me stress-free for how easy and nice they were completely forgot about the problem with my car!! Called and scheduled my smog appointment and they completed the smog check in less than thirty minutes.
HAD A CAR THERE FOR A FIX SO IT COULD GET SMOGGED. $1,800 BILL AND AN ENTIRE 9 MONTHS LATER. NOW CAR SITS AT THEIR SHOP CAUSE ITS NOT EVEN WORTH THE SHOP BILL. REGISTRATION HAS EXPIRED AND ITS JUST SITTING. Update on car first round was $600 that didnt fix I was then told another option would for sure get it to pass smog. 9 months and $1800 later. Update on car, the manager took and sold my parents car to someone at Sheriffs Dept So they could get their money for their 9 month waste of time, Never called me and told me vehicle wad sold. I made it easy for them when I handed them the pink slip with I thought with the understanding they would get their money for cost + $500 for me. Not sure how anyone could say an honest business. What a joke.

I was referred here by a friend. The mechanics I went to for an oil change told me I needed new brakes. The quote was expensive so I wanted another quote. John was so nice and they looked at my brakes . He gave me measurements and told me I have Atleast 10,000 miles on these brakes. Well thank goodness I came in here. Honest ! Mechanic! These guys have always treated me great, other shops were over charging me for the same thing. This shop is reliable and fair. I have friends who take their company fleets here for service as well other friends who take their personal cars here. Ive never heard a bad thing about this place. One huge perk, i lived down the street from the shop and they would drive me home after i dropped my car off. I dont think thats a regular thing thats offered either , they were just being kind .

My Chevy Equinox was showing error code of P0014. I asked them to do a full diagnosis check on my vehicle. They performed that service and gave me a quote of $1100.00. Which checked out. They needed to order parts upon my approval. When I called to see if they if they might stay 5 minutes past their closing at 5:00pm I was told dont let the front door hit you in your face at 5:01pm I was stunned and thought the gentleman was joking. Mind you when my Husband called he said that we could pay with a credit card and they would leave my keys on my front tire, when I arrived at 5:05pm a few employees were still at the shop. I will be getting the necessary repairs done but not at Beachfront Auto. This Man at the front desk should not be answering their phones or interacting with the public at all. He was rude when I dropped off my vehicle and super unprofessional. He acted like I I was charging him for his time instead of the other way around. I paid them for their time ,but that is the last dime they will ever get from me. Masagonist

Used to take my car to BFA when they were at the old location. Had my current vehicle towed here hoping they could fix it. Not possible but John referred me to a repair shop across the street who were able to repair my rig. While I was stranded for three days, John gave me a lift to the grocery store. And then, my battery was dead so he let us used his portable jump starter. And I wasnt even a customer! I cannot say enough good things about this place. Go here, you will be in good hands.

I went in to get my car smogged, and there was a problem with the check engine light, the mechanic noticed it when he went to move the car over to the station. Instead of allowing my car to automatically fail and just charging me the smog fee, he let me know right then and I took it home and found out the previous mechanic who had worked on it left the computer in diagnostic mode. Thanks guys, honesty and integrity mean alot to me and Ill be coming back for any repairs I need.
Ive always had great experiences with beach front auto. Ive had tune ups, oil changes, and smogs. Usually get through them in a timely manner. Staff is always nice and helpful. New location has a much roomier waiting area which was nice plus a bathroom.

Was recommended here by my spouses family after we moved here. Had negative experiences with basic maintenance & the last straw was when I brought the car because coolant was leaking. Beach Front did a $1500 repair and the radiator blew up the day after I got it back. When I brought it back in (they said the work was warrantied) they wanted to charge another $150 for labor and $150 for parts. Will never go here again. Our family has been local for generations and going here for decades. I believe the business saw an out of town address after I moved and acted inappropriately.

Jon and Cora knew me right away, by name! It has been a few months since Ive been there (August of last year) so that was amazing to me! They are always very nice and attentive. I like that they always understand that if youre not there for a routine appointment they make you feel important which in turn makes you feel better. They always offer to give you a ride home and/or pick you up to make getting back home or to work easier. I also really enjoy the fact that they GIVE you a printed out estimate of what they are going to do and then call you to get the go ahead to do it! Everyone there is always very kind and helpful. What once was a honest small town shop turned into a money hungry rip off, I had been taking my cars here for smogs for years and out of no where they acted as if I was dumb and tried to tell me I had a burnt valve and they would do the work, my friend came over and put a distributor on it, problem solved, real nice place to take grandma they will make 3 house payments off her car.........

Everyone who works at Beach Front is very helpful, considerate, and pleasant to work with. We have been loyal customers for years. When its smog check time, theres no question where to have this done. And a bonus treat is to walk down to Grand Avenue to enjoy a delicious frozen yogurt waffle cone while I wait... Smiles

Totally incompetent and the girl up front is super rude. I took my car in for a simple oil and filter change. They suggested an air filter change, I said sure. Took my car home and noticed it sounded weird. They called me and left a message stating for me to return their call. Come to find out they never put the new filter in! I had to drive all the way back there for them to install something I had already paid them to install. I asked the girl up front to reimburse me and she acted as if I was asking for her firstborn! She said it was a mistake, we overlooked it, it happens. Really? Thats unacceptable. We wont ever be returning or referring anyone to this place.
Whatever you do never take a nice car here because you will have more things wrong when you leave then when you came in. This once outstanding place is now the bottom of the barrel. Lack lustre performance created a cracked rim while trying to figure out how to jack up the car to do an oil change. When this was presented to the owner for him to replace (after twenty years giving them business) he refused and stated that someone drove it into a curb.
Good honest shop they even have a lady who really knows her stuff ! I am impressed with Beach Front Auto today
