There was a terrible Lithium battery fire here on January 16, 2025 that burned for 4 days and contaminated surrounding areas with at least 100-1000 times the normal amount of toxic metals. This area is known for producing vegetable and berry crops that feed the nation, and this plant is in the midst of this agricultrual region and is also right on the water, and right beside a State Marine Preserve. No telling just how badly it contaminated the waters nearby, but lithium is extremely toxic stuff and from my understanding, it is a substance that floats on water, meaning it can spread quite quickly (like oil spills). Many people got sick after this incident. These guys need to take responsibility for this incident and between them and the county, they ought to be making reparations due to this incident.
