Located in a quiet fishing village centered on the Monterey Bay, Moss Landing KOA Express is a nature-lover's paradise. Founded in the 1800's as a seaport and fishing village, Moss Landing has a little something for everyone. Located in the heart of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, it is home to dozens of birds species, as well as otters, sea lions, and harbor seals. Take a scenic nature tour through the Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, one of California's largest coastal wetlands, or catch one of the daily whale-watching cruises out of the harbor right next door. A beautiful beach and many delightful restaurants are within a few minutes' walk. A short 30-minute...
KOA campground, very neat and clean. RV spots are a little tight but better than other places we've been. Nice landscaping, friendly staff.
Clean and well maintained. Hookups are very easy. Spots are very close together. Small RV park without much to do within the park aside from a small communal area. Sea otters and Sea lions are close by as well as a walking trail and the ocean
This was the second time here and it did not disappoint. Super helpful staff when we arrived. Had a dead battery on our toad and offered to help. For such a little place this is one of the cleanest campgrounds we've ever visited. It's the perfect base camp for activities around Monterey.
Express it is named possibly due to the small number of sites. 46 I believe. That is an attraction for me. Situated off highway 1 and surrounded by the marina is very appealing for us. Reservations were made over the phone with Liz. She did a nice job of getting us in for the following day. Check in was with Ben. Friendly and in formative, he met us at our site and gave us some tips as we backed in. Also, Ben offered us 2 big locks to use at no charge for our$$$$ E-Bikes and some Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, a nice touch. Easy walk into the marina area or onto the beach. It was quiet at night. Occasional sounds from Highway 1 in the daytime. I really can't say anyhing I didn't like. Maybe a wider site would be nice but appreciated the clean concrete pads. We will be back for sure.
The greatest spots to stay on the road are those that welcome you with open arms and limit the drama that can arise if the slightest thing is not in order. The road trip can be stressful enough on its own. The staff welcomed us and assisted in parking our rig and offered any further assistance if necessary. The park is clean and well maintained with a store filled with necessities. The showers and bathrooms were always clean along with the grounds and facilities. We love this park because it exists with everything nature by the sea! Recommended for all travelers seeking beauty and excitement.
We had a wonderful time staying at this little KOA. Liz and Ben were just the best, and they clearly care so much about this Park. Their dedication goes into every detail of our stay, from the cookies upon arrival to the meticulous landscaping and upkeep of the sites. They were both kind, friendly, and down-to-earth people who made you feel welcome. We can't wait to come back! The sites are a little tight but the staff (Ben!) is diligent in helping back people in and ensuring that everyone is parked correctly / not blocking the road. This park is just a short walk to the marina and beach where an abundance of sea lions and sea otters roam. There are a handful of good restaurants in the area as well as fish markets (like less than 5 mins drive time).
Great well kept campground. So clean and nice. Great staff. They even guide your backing in. Right next to boat tours ( Marina ) walking distance to ocean. Can’t say enough good things. Definitely will be returning. Not far from Monterey and Carmel if you choose to go exploring. We chose to stay around campground and enjoy.
This is one of our favorite coastal RV parks between SF and Santa Barbara. It's small but close to great food and the ocean. It's close to enough for day trips to Santa Cruz or Monterey. And it's pet friendly (even on the beach)! Update: we still love this place. This time we're taking the local Sanctuary Cruise, which is only a 2~3 minute walk from the KOA.
