Advanced Trucks Inc in Morgan Hill

I have gone back and forth with posting this review online. I decided after a year, if I was still irritated, I would go ahead and post it. Prior to this experience, I used to love Advanced Trucks. Their mechanics were enthusiastic and you can tell when someone loves their work. It showed in their attitude and the final product had heart put into it. I’d rely on them usually for alignment and steering work as they had good equipment and their techs had great attention to detail. I would often refer people there if they asked about a good shop for trucks and 4x4s in Morgan Hill. I have a Jeep that I sometimes daily drive and usually rockcrawl with. Around mid to late March of 2023, my custom rear axle finally grenaded on me. I thought I blew a ring and pinion but didn’t have time to deal with it. I contacted them, told them what I thought it was but to let me know if it wasn’t. I also asked if they could have it done within a week, which the person at the front desk said it was possible. They contacted me within the week to let me know that it was bad news. The ring and pinion was destroyed, but it also took out the axle housing with it. Not their fault, my rig was driven hard and had seen its share of abuse. I was told I needed a new axle, which was a challenge in itself as my build was custom. The employee at the front desk told me it was fine if I picked up a used rear axle and ordered the parts to have it built out. I knew at this point it would not be a quick turnaround job and accepted that. I was able to get a used axle that fit my application and dropped it off to the shop approximately 3 weeks after I initially dropped it off. Here is where I became frustrated with the shop. Communication was poor. I contacted the employee numerous times, asking about certain parts being compatible, and what was needed. I never received straight answers, the return phone calls were inconsistent, and that specific employee in particular seemed completely apathetic towards helping me out. I was told a few times about how some parts wouldn’t work and how that employee would get back to me with the correct parts I needed to order to get the brackets right. If I had my choice, I would have pulled that Jeep out of the shop and paid someone else to just do the work. For two months, I saw it sitting in the yard on jackstands with no movement. No communication, no urgency to start working on it, nothing. I finally get a call in late May from a manager who said he was new there. He was friendly, acknowledged the mistake and the delay, explained that the shop had issues finding technicians, and that he would personally work on getting me the right parts. From there, communication smoothened out, and I had my rig back in a couple of weeks. I appreciated the kick to get things moving through the manager. There was no offer for any sort of discount off the final price. In fact, the manager voiced to me how he needed to pay the employees so they needed to finish this project up to get paid. He also was challenged with finding someone to do the gear install. I get it, good help is hard to find – but I’m the customer, not someone running the shop, which does not concern me. It is not my problem to find technicians to do the job. If you have my project for an unreasonable amount of time, you have an employee that is clearly apathetic, lazy, and inept, it is your job to problem solve and figure out how to keep the customer happy. I was so fed up that I just wanted my Jeep back at this point. I am still dissatisfied more than a year later. I will never bring any of my vehicles back there and refuse to give them the nod for anyone asking about their shop. I have never had such a negative experience with a shop in the years of owning vehicles to the point that I wanted to write a negative review about it.

Had a Bilstein 5100 set installed and leveled on my 2011 4Runner. Staff was very responsive with my questions and very knowledgeable about car customization. Job was also completed in a timely manner and no issues so far!

This company is extremely professional and full of integrity, which is incredibly hard to find these days. They went above and beyond to make sure that my truck build was to my satisfaction. Not only did they consult with me on the best build for my use, they also updated me with the progress. Joe, Mike, and Pat are honest people. After lots of searching for the right shop throughout the Bay Area, I am very glad I took my business to Advanced Trucks. Good work, boys!

This shop is great! So lucky to have them in my neighborhood. Working with Eddie was a pleasure. He was thorough in covering all aspects of the installation of lift kit and locating wheels and tires I wanted. He was able to locate the wheels I wanted as they were being discontinued. They were able to get the work done in a timely manner and the quality was of work was terrific. I will definitely go back for more work in future.

It has been a long time coming. With Advance Trucks Inc they really sit with you and talk through what you want. Pros and Cons of each ask, cost and what needs to happen. Their shop is well equipped. My alignment on my Jeep since it got lifted has been awesome. They work to save you money when you are looking to do a lot. Savings comes from not having to do the same work twice. Not so much on the parts themselves. Does it cost, yes it does, but with these guys it’s done right.

Excellent quality and fantastic customer service really set Advanced trucks apart from everyone else in the area. Lifted my 2001 4Runner and it came out amazing! This is one extremely satisfied customer. Highly recommended.
