Mechanix Express in Marina Del Rey

Don’t go here, I believe this place is a scam. My car died and I was told by the tower it may be a transmission issue. I called this place to have it looked at and the man on the phone offered to tow it. The address here says it’s in Marina del rey which was only about 5 miles from where my car was. The car had been switched into neutral previously (using the safety switch) in order to tow it. After looking at my car this man calls me and tells me it’s going to be $2,000 for a “new transmission switch” bc they can’t put the car back in drive without it. Very obviously trying to scam me. I say no I’m not paying that and say I will pick up my car. He then tells me it’s going to be $350 for the 5 mile tow and an extra $100 for the “diagnostic” he ran. He had my car and my key so there was nothing I could do. I paid the $100 and left the insurance to handle the tow. I went to the shop at this address to get my car and it wasn’t there. When I asked where it was this man sent me a random address in EAST LA to find my car. An hours drive from where this address is listed. When I got there it was on a completely random residential street. I then had to call another tow to take it back from East LA to Marina del Rey. And to top it all off I got a $70 parking ticket in the mail from this man leaving my car on a random street with “no parking” signs. I took the car to the dealership and it turns out it was just a dead main and secondary battery… that was it. Even the dealership agreed I was being scammed by this man trying to claim he needed $2k to put my car in drive when there’s a manual safety switch. The whole situation was incredibly bizarre and uncomfortable. Please do not go here, I believe the other reviews are fake.
