I could not disagree MORE regarding the negative reviews as my own experience was the COMPLETE opposite. Since LA is not my home, I was concerned about a car issue and due to proximity I chose Marina Motorworks. I was greeted by the owner with a vibe nearly extinct in SoCal. Everything the owner said as he troubleshot my SL was on point and honest. How do I know? BECAUSE he walked me through the inspection real-time. I've been working on cars for 50 years (although no longer). What a RARE and special find! I will be transporting my cars from Santa Barbara and Vegas to this place for their transparency, honest approach and fairness to those needing luxury car repair. I was in a jam before heading to Vegas and he located the exact issue and fixed it. A true "angel" in the City of less and less angels.
Absolutely the WORST experience I've ever had with any repair shop that I have ever used. Bad customer service in every way possible! They don't know how to do engine swaps, nor do they have any knowledge or skills to work on classics. This is a below average shop. It's all smoke 'n mirrors! My car was ruined. Forget about all of the HELL, and emotional distress that I had to go through. I had to go elsewhere. Beyond stubborn, ignorant, arrogant, incompetent, and selfish to ever accept any responsibility. NOT honest or professional whatsoever! I have proof of the chassis being destroyed by this shop. I had to pay for the costly repair. The car was sitting on a lift for exactly two (2) years, because they did NOT know what they were doing. Engine they had recommended was not suitable, or compatible for the car. Engine swap ended up being completed by a highly skilled shop in exactly three (3) months. I have proof of everything. Phone pictures, include months and years. They don't lie !
Could not recommend Frank and his team enough. I have 3 very specialized G-Wagens and Frank has been knowledgable, trustworthy, and efficient taking care of all 3. Everything from modern AMG motors to 80's diesel engines, these guys are the real deal. If you are looking for an independent Mercedes shop with fair pricing, clear communication, and excellent workmanship, look no further.
senor Frank from Chile is one of the best mechanics i've worked with. it's always a pleasure (even if mercedes parts can be expensive at times!) to stop by when our 2008 E350 wagon shows a warning sign on the dash or for regular service b/c i know that that Frank has 30 yrs experience and will give us the straight dope. his dog Bruno is always there and he is such a sweet lug. Frank knows the mercedes of 30+ yrs ago as well as the more modern ones like ours. we've actually taken our non-mercedes cars to him on occasion just to get his input and referrals b/c we fully trust him.
I can tell you that the event posted by Orchid Blue did not happen. The owner of Marina Motorworks, Frank Faesch, has confirmed that he has never in over 30 years at this location called the police on ANYONE. If this person saw employees talking and laughing, but did not stop at the shop, there is no way to know what the conversation was even about. This business has customers of many ethnicities, so to accuse them of being racist is just wrong and should be retracted. And by the way, Frank is an excellent Mercedes Benz mechanic who is extremely honest.
I was about to stop by this place and ask for a quote but this small business was preoccupied with a black man (seemed homeless) they had called the cops on. The police were questioning the man for a long time and I saw the employees watching this and laughing about it at times. I turned my car around and knew I could never do business with a place functioning at this level, treating people of color this way. Glad I saw this. I felt shame to even proceed in asking for a quote. Felt sad for that man. Racism matters when looking for good businesses to work with.
My 30-year-old Mercedes-Benz entered Frank's shop with numerous problems, which made me scared to operate the car. Frank quickly remedied everything, and the car is now a pleasure to drive. All works perfectly! You cannot pay someone like Frank what he is really worth. A person who dedicates his life to being the best there is, is truly priceless. For Mercedes-Benz owners, Frank is a precious gift.
Independent Mercedes shop and Frank is reasonable and knows Mercedes. Best independent Mercedes Mechanic I have met in the southbay.
