Long overdue review! Was having issues with my 67 Cadillac - would only go into 2nd gear - and brought it to Stus. They dropped the pan and threw in a new filter / fluid and that fixed the problem. Very trustworthy - I highly recommend these guys.
Jake is AMAZING, and so is his crew! His sister, Tillie, is top notch in the office. Jake's dad, Tim, was the man behind the original dream, and plan of CUSTOMER SERVICE & MECHANICS, FIRST - profit, second... He taught Jake EVERYTHING that he knows, and mentored him since Jakes was a young teen. Now, Jake runs this business like a CHAMP, and EVERY customer leaves here feeling like they can drive cross country if they need or want to, and not worry about a breakdown. You will NOT be disappointed, if you need mechanics on your auto (all makes and models - they are trained for it all - even Euro Spec!). Don't go anywhere else, and waste your money, only to be taken advantage of (especially if you are a woman, or over the age of 40, because there are predatory shops out there just looking to make a quick buck expecting you not to know any better!)... Go get your blessings on with Jake!🥰
They may have had a great reputation a long time ago but I found no reason to give them better than one star. Lets just say they seem overwhelmed with work and the quality of their work show it. Not happy with how my vehicle was left and didn't even bother to go back and have them fix it. Rather go somewhere else.
I took my car because it gave me a valve body code P0723, I assumed some cable or some selenoid but they said that the diagnosis would say what I needed, starting with $2500 of the transmission, plus $2,200 valve body and whatever else was missing... I took it out paying $189 for the “diagnosis”, I myself opened it under the oil pan and it was the broken and loose cable of a solenoid….. and matter resolved! I'm not saying they're bad, but should we all change everything to be good at this?
Spent multiple days researching and reading reviews of a shop that can fix my blown mt82 transmission. These guys had the most positive reviews and almost non existent negative reviews. They have been around for a LONG time and their lot had a variety of cars telling me they can work on any car. My car was fixed in a quick matter and with their own warranty and guarantee when done. If you always wanted a go to shop or always wanted to tell a friend "I have a guy", this is your place.
I am so blessed to have found Stu's Transmission, I lived in that area for 38 years but never went to them. I heard many good things about Stu's but until my transmission went out I then looked them up. Out of all the research that I did on transmission repair shops every review I read was about trust, honesty, integrity, quality and care. This made the decision easy for me. I chose Stu's and I am so happy I did. They live up to the reviews and more. If you want quality work, honesty and integrity go see Tim and Jake. They are the best.
What a great find this shop is. Their knowledge and experience in all areas of auto maintenance and repair is second to none. I have a 2002 Tahoe with 237,000 miles that continues to service me very well. I normally take the Tahoe along with a list of squawks to one of a few different local auto shops every 3000 to 4000 miles. Which shop would depend on the nature of the squawk/s. About 6 weeks ago I had what I thought was likely a transmission issue which I really didn't trust to my list of shops so went looking on-line for a transmission place. I found Stu's and liked the reviews I read so gave it a go. The short of it is that they did a complete diagnostic health check of the total vehicle. That health check revealed that what I thought might be a transmission problem was really a mis-firing problem that occurred under load and that the transmission was working just fine with no issues. Their diagnostics also identified other more minor issues that I was not detecting but should be addressed since my goal is to keep the Tahoe running as good as I can as long as I can. I cannot report how very satisfying it is to have found a shop that I can trust to honestly diagnose the health of my autos and keep them good repair without having to monitor them. This is truly a shop that I trust has enough honesty and expertise to tell my wife to "just take your car to them and do whatever they say needs be done" and trust that they will know what issues might need attention and fix them, and by the way at a very very fair price and with the best available parts. I will be back for sure.
Stu's AE Transmission has been in business for over 60 years but this is the first time I ever brought a vehicle there. My 2005 Jeep generated a 'Transmission Over Temp' light a couple weeks ago. I took it to my normal service guy and he said he didn't do transmission work. He referred me to somewhere else but, I remembered Stu's, having grown up just down the street from this facility. I took my vehicle there, explained that problem plus 3 other issues I was having. Tim was very patient and really listened to me. He never made me feel that my questions or concerns were stupid and explained all the technical car stuff in terms I could understand. I really thought he would say that I needed a whole transmission but, he said 'NO'... lets try some less extensive (and less expensive) options first. Stu's was able to fix all my issues for a very reasonable cost. Although my car was there a while as they are extremely busy, they called several times proactively to let me know what was going on. I said 'no hurry' since I had another car and told them to take whatever time they needed. I will definitely be bringing the Jeep back to Stu's for any other maintenance needs since they are NOT just transmissions. Also, Tim gave me the hint that my Jeep was probably good for 180,000 more miles IF I started using better gasoline! I would Definitely recommend that you bring your car to Stu's for any vehicle maintenance.
