Gary is the best when it comes to tunes and E-tuning. He patiently worked with me over the course of months to get my STi running amazing. He and his work is top notch and I recommend him to ANYONE looking to get their car tuned. Please go and use him, you won’t regret it!
I recently had a custom e-tune done for my 2024 Subaru WRX, and I am extremely satisfied with the results. The car feels noticeably more responsive, especially under acceleration. The throttle response is much quicker, and I've experienced smoother power delivery throughout the RPM range. It feels more stable, and the idle is incredibly smooth. The increased boost has definitely given the car more punch—it really sticks you to your seat! Gary was very responsive to my questions and took the time to communicate clearly about what was needed for the data logs, ensuring everything was dialed in perfectly. I'm beyond happy with my custom e-tune and would highly recommend Bain Tuning to anyone looking for a personalized, performance-focused tune. I’m excited to see how my car continues to perform going forward.
Gary is the best. My evo 8 was having clutch disengagement issues when cold. I did as much as I could myself to trouble shoot the issue, replaced the master cylinder, bled the system, adjusted the clutch pedal, and put OEM fluid in the trans. The only thing left was the clutch, it was an aftermarket Centerforce kit that the previous owner had installed, and others online had similar issues when cold. I brought my car to Gary and right away he could tell that it was the clutch and pressure plate that was causing the issue. He gave me a quote and I sent him the deposit. He helped order all the parts and fluids that would be needed and after a few weeks, I dropped off the car, and he was able to finish the entire job within a few days, all by himself. Came to pick up the car, go for a test drive, and the next morning when it was freezing cold, the car shifted into gear smoothly, night and day difference. Can’t recommend this place enough. It wasn’t cheap but the quality of his work is outstanding, Gary is a legend.
Gary and his guys are top tier, i brought my 2001 Audi S4 in for a turbo replacement. There was a lot broken on the car beyond what met the eye, Gary was very understanding and willing to work with me while i sourced parts for the car. We’ve had the car back for a week now and it’s been nothing short of amazing, the car feels better than ever. Additionally the team and Bains took great care me and my Audi. I am very lucky to have found them, great rates, honest, great work, and even better people. 10/10 i highly recommend this shop.
I had my 1990 Nissan GTR tuned at Bains Tuning, and I can’t recommend them enough! Gary is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled—he explained the safe power levels for my car and expertly resolved some issues, including diagnosing and fixing a pinched wire on the boost controller and removing, cleaning, and gapping the spark plugs. He dialed in my 91-octane tune to 493whp and added a flex-fuel tune, bringing it to 563whp on E85, which I was thrilled to hear.
Gary is a great guy had a few probs with a hose breaking on my 63 nova so had to come back but overall this guy knows his shit very well I realized he mostly does imports but he still did my 63 nova with a ls in it car is running great appriate it big time Gary look forward to seeing ya in the future thanks again bud if ya got a ls or import take my word for it come to Gary
Gary is awesome! Communicates very well and explains the process. He tuned my 2018 Ecoboost Mustang and it runs way better and shifts smoother. I gained 50hp which is great considering it's a 4 cylinder Mustang. Highly recommend.
If you are looking for a tuner that’ll really take care of you look no further. Been taking my 2011 WRX to Gary for years and he always goes above and beyond for me and his customers. Tuning is always on point never had any issues and he always has the answers to any questions you may have.

It s a beautiful thing to find someone so passionate about their craft. My Wrx is a monster now. I had a 2016 Camaro SS and this WRX would smoke it. Cant believe what stage 1 with bad gas and his professional tuning does. Gary Bains is the real deal. Now this has me thinking what else is down this rabbit hole. Gary is a cool dude, but he could have definitely do a better job at explaining the dyno and tune. He tuned my car and said this is how much you made and that was it. If you own a Subaru, it s worth it to make that drive to snail performance and get it tuned by Travis. I was able to get more power and the car ran a lot smoother with Travis s tune. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
Highly recommend Bains to anyone, Gary helped me out with me 07 Chevy Silverado, Gary is very profesional and responds quickly to messages, the Tune that he has put on the truck made a huge difference, this was my first time running my truck and I am very picky to whom touches my truck. Gary made the process as smooth as possible. Will be bringing my other cars and recommending Gary for future references. I don t doubt his tuning potential one bit , but i had him diagnose my turbo FRS , it kept stalling , he claimed it was the BOV, and he ordered me one , turned out to be the wrong BOV . i paid 70$ restocking fee . I took the car home and ordered the correct fit BOV , car kept stalling , connected it to my scan-tool and noticed Manifold Absolute Pressure shouldve been the same as Atmospheric Pressure , the conclusion was a faulty MAP sensor . Still paid him to grease my BOV (180$) . Not really upset just thought the problem would be easier to find . Plus he doesn t take credit card payments . If you have FRS/BRZ/86 just take it to delicious tuning .
Gary was very helpful throughout the E-tuning process and it went by quick and easy. Would definitely recommend using them with tuning your Subaru
Went to Gary for a flex fuel tune for my 20 WRX and minimal mods a couple weeks ago and got a good boost in power and responsiveness in the car highly recommend him and he answered all my questions I had about the tune and what to do in the future as far as suggested parts and supporting mods. Will be returning again for the bigger gains. Highly recommend.

After a couple years of trouble shooting with my Evo and a couple other Bay Area shops I won t name giving up on the car, Gary had the car running right in just under 2 hours with new injectors and a fresh tune. Should have just taken my car here to begin with. I will definitely be coming back here for any future tuning needs.
