When you come to Carmel, you come for the people and quaint vibe the town embodies. The people at Le Petit are the star of the stay. We can not say enough wonderful things about the people, the rooms, the location and even the whole town. I write reviews so you can make a decision with some sense of real experiences. Definitely stay at Le Petit and enjoy the convenience of the food, the ocean and the sunsets at your fingertips, but please, please also chat with the locals and especially the crew at Le Petit...they are a highlight of the stay and you would be missing out to not get to know them during your stay. We loved it.

From the moment we arrived at this charming hotel, I was completely blown away by the exceptional service and attention to detail. The front receptionist lady was welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. It’s clear they take great pride in creating a memorable experience for each guest as they arrive. Prepare to enjoy a glass of sparkling rose wine. The French-inspired decor throughout lobby and rooms was absolutely stunning, transporting me straight to Paris. The elegance and refinement of every room and common area made it feel like a luxurious escape. Every corner was thoughtfully designed, with beautiful touches that added to the overall ambiance. Very quaint and small hotel, not the huge corporate hotel model. To top it all off, the baked pastries were divine! Freshly made, they were the perfect complement to our morning coffee. And let’s not forget the sparkling rosé—such a delightful treat that made us feel like we were indulging. This hotel exceeded all expectations in every way, and we can’t wait to return. It’s rare to find such a combination of impeccable service, stunning decor, rooms with fireplace and thoughtful touches that make you feel truly special. Highly recommend!

I booked this trip as a little birthday getaway for my fiancé and chose this inn because it looked charming and was within walking distance of everything — I thought it would be perfect. Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here. 1. Upon arrival, we grabbed a Diet Coke from the mini fridge in our room. As my fiancé took a sip, he noticed a strange taste. Turns out, the soda was extremely expired. I had to inform the front desk and request that we wouldn’t be charged for it. 2. The most concerning issue was that on our last day, my fiancé discovered he had bed bug bites. We initially hoped they were just mosquito bites from the first night, but unfortunately, we were wrong. Thankfully, I had only planned a two-night stay here, and we spent the rest of our trip elsewhere. 3. Lastly, nothing here is actually complimentary as advertised. The “fresh cookies” they offer were neither fresh nor warm — they were delivered cold and stale. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying at this inn. There are plenty of other, much better options in town that will offer a more comfortable and enjoyable experience

I agree that this is an “Instagram hotel”, everything looks cute but is very cheap. They refill the french yogurt jars for breakfast in the morning. The walls are so thin you can hear the guests in rooms next to you, we were even “upgraded” yet couldn’t sleep due to the sound of the ice machine nearby. There’s ear plugs provided in the bathroom if that’s a testament to how bad the issue is. It’s a somewhat renovated motel at best, the amenities are very scammy. I would stay anywhere else but here. We even noticed stains on the towels in our room. I never write bad reviews but this was appalling after paying nearly $500 for 1 night.. Also do not expect to get parking here on the weekend unless you want to wait around for a spot. There’s not enough parking for guests and no valet or help finding alternative parking so factor in that you will be figuring that out on your own. The “homemade” cookies are stale and cold upon delivery as well. Honestly please stay elsewhere we ended up spending the next night at L’Auberge and LOVED IT night and day difference.

Thank you for showing willingness to improve in the responses. I did really like 3 of your employees and wish all could be like them. Updating the rating for that. ———— It was a recently renovated motel but renovated cheaply - meaning you could still hear everything from your room and there’s no proper air filtration system in the room. Room: the rooms are quite small; as described above, it has Instagram style decors and furnitures - meaning those might look good in picture but only look good in picture & feel cheap in real life. We stayed for half week and really could not stand the VOCs throwing out from the furniture - had to keep the windows open on very humid days - because of the poor service: I was told by one male staff at the front desk for two consecutive days that “we do not have air purifiers and will never accommodate such requests”. Funny that I always have such requests fulfilled in any 4 star+ hotels. So that tells you what to expect - not a four star place at all. Service: don’t expect much - all male staffs were rude and inconsiderate - the elder person who checks people in seems to hate his job or being in service industry given his attitude at work - he shall either retire or be sent to any 5 star hotel for a continuing training to learn how to operate better. One breakfast lady, one afternoon tea lady and one elder lady were much more professional - they should promote them immediately before all guests were pissed off. Food: they offer breakfast but there’s only super sweet pastries, fruits & wine for decoration, poor tasting coffee (dripping coffee which tastes worse than illy’s) and unknown brand yogurt filled in re-used la fermière yogurt jars. Let me go one by one: pastries were one of the few edible choices in their breakfast. They do claim to offer fruits but it was mostly large piles of grapes that weren’t broken apart nor washed. Another guest was joking with us that it’s for decoration only lol. Their yogurt is the most confusing option on the menu. they were in la fermière jars but they tasted much more sour than any French yogurt I had. My first taste on the yogurts made me think they are expired - but only to find out those were unknown brand yogurt (staffs told me they were not home made) and refilled into the jars. Staffs insisted these were la Fermière but I do not think they ever made Greek yogurt, and their only plain yogurt usually was packed in glass jars instead of their clay jars - after a few days, they finally told me the caps were bought on Amazon but never said if the jars are too. I hope they wash the jars well and put a claimer up front so people know what to expect. You have to individually “order” dripping coffee which is quite weird to me. Location was very good but all hotels in town have good locations. We chose it for the location and thought it would be a newer hotel building - it is not. Parking is very tight - I did not notice any open spots at night during my entire stay. This place seems to have contracts with tour groups - there were a huge group of tourists gathering in the hotel every now and then. So be aware if you are sensitive about it. There were a few polite and nice guests in this hotel but most seem quite rude… not sure where this hotel has most of its ads at…. we noticed quite a few European tourists yelling loudly and slamming their doors at night or having their not well behaved dogs walking on lobby room couches inconsiderately - I love dogs and being a dog mom of two, I never let my dog on public furnitures even tho they are hypoallergenic. Cannot imagine someone sitting on the couch after the dog visits and leaving with piles of furs on their coats. I do not recommend here if you care about quality of life or food or thought it has good service.

The room was nice and there were great snacks and drinks available in the room for free!! Water pressure was great! The issue was the proximity of the room to the street! Every morning at 5:30am…. Trash truck, buses, cars, etc. right outside the window. Not sure how this could be avoided but it made what would have been a perfect vacation less than enjoyable.

I can't speak highly enough about this place. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating - when they saw we had our little one with us, they let us see two rooms that were both available to ensure we'd have enough floor space for our baby's travel crib. It's lovely that they have outdoor seating with fire pits and wine and snacks - we were able to be "out" even with our little one asleep. The location couldn't possibly be more convenient - we were walking distance to so many shops and wine tasting rooms. The continental breakfast was STELLAR - delicious pastries, soft boiled eggs and amazing yogurt and granola and lots of fruit, plus La Colombe coffee - we were super satisfied. The only request I'd make is that they figure out the types of cheeses that they have for their cheese plate on their snack list so that they can answer whether or not they're pasteurized. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

I had the most delightful stay at the Petit Pali Hotel on Ocean, and I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, Alex at reception set the tone for an amazing experience. Alex was absolutely wonderful—warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. They let me check in early and shared fantastic local recommendations that made my trip even better. The hotel itself is pure charm. My room was everything I could have hoped for: super cozy, impeccably designed, and stocked with fantastic amenities. It felt like a true home away from home, but better. The included breakfast deserves its own moment of praise—I think I ate my weight in bread during the two mornings I was there! Every bite was absolutely delicious. A special shoutout to Paige, who served breakfast with such care and kindness. I also want to highlight Lady from the housekeeping staff. She was so thoughtful and meticulous in turning over my room. Her attention to detail and care were evident and much appreciated. Some of my favorite moments were early mornings in my room, sipping coffee with the most heartwarming and cozy view. It was the perfect retreat—a place to relax, recharge, and feel completely at ease. I loved everything about this hotel and can't wait to come back. Thank you, Petit Pali, for such a memorable stay!

Honestly, the only good thing about this hotel is the location. It s very conveniently located with most of the hotspots of Carmel within walking distance. Other than that, I would say it s extremely overpriced. We paid around $670 a night during the weekend for a remodeled motel room. They try to upsell this place by using brand items like diptyque shower gels and a Marshall speaker. The place includes a continental breakfast . The breakfast has some good quality items but is very limited with some bread, pastries, boiled eggs and jam. Not very fair to call it complimentary breakfast since you re paying a resort fee of $40/day. The homemade cookies you get every evening is a nice touch, but I doubt they were actually home made. They definitely weren t warm upon delivery and tasted kind of stale. The parking situation is also horrible with very tight parking spots and no availability after 3 pm, so you still need to park on the street. The guy by the front desk is rude and doesn t really seem to care about his job. They are pet friendly, however they charge $125 which I think is a bit excessive for a small dog. They have a tiny patio and other than that there is no real outdoor space or a pet relief station. Since this is a remodeled motel, there is no AC and the rooms are pretty noisy. You can hear outside noise from the Main Street, the Nextdoor neighbors door slamming closed and the people upstairs walking. The bed was comfortable. No smart tv. There was a note in the room which said you would receive a bottle of Antipodes water per person/per day. Upon request at the front desk they told us that this had changed, and you ll only receive a bottle of water on the first day. This took us by surprise. In conclusion: we were looking forward to this stay a lot but left pretty disappointed and not very rested due to the noise. If you re looking for a higher end hotel, this definitely ain t it.

This place is super cute with attention to lots of little details. Stylish rooms, cute patio and fireplace, cookies brought to your room every night, wine on arrival, delicious pastries from local bakery every morning, T3 blow dryer and straightener (what?!), good shower, comfortable bed. The only negative is that some people can be really loud since the walls are thin. Only had real issues with this one night from upstairs neighbor. No AC but was comfortable during our stay with just the fan and windows open during the day. Great place!

Absolutely beautiful. My 3 adult daughters and I traveled to Carmel for a girls trip and Le Petit Pali just made our trip. Beautiful property and exceptional service. We chose 1 room with a pull out. The pull out was not ideal, a little noisy and not the most comfortable. But rooms are not likely meant for 4 adults. We had a blast together though! Rooms are well appointed-lovely bedding, decor and bathrooms. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Location is idea, we never used our rental car, walked everywhere. Really everything we could have wanted for our stay in Carmel.

This hotel has location on its side. The outdoor space, free bikes, and dog friendliness is a plus. The room is stylish but minimally FUNCTIONAL. Pros: - location - dog friendly with a fee - evening cookies before bed - outdoor seating with fire pit - easy parking something their sister location doesn t really have a few blocks over - rooms have a personal fire place - free continental breakfast cons: - bathroom door doesn t close all the way so no privacy - no A/C, windows do open though and there s a ceiling fan - lighting mostly lamps, but vibey - no elevator Safety: Very safe, easy parking that s free Walkability: Walkable to all of Carmel by the sea

This is a fine pet-friendly hotel option in Carmel. The rooms are quite stylish but lose some points on functionality. The bathroom door is far too small, leaving about a three-inch-wide side gap when shut. There s no AC and while the ceiling fan helped, it was also low enough to give my carelessly raised hand a thwack on our first night. If you re on the second floor, be aware there s no elevator. The nightly cookies are a nice touch and the rooms are Instagramable to be sure. For the pups, there s some planted dirt areas for bathroom breaks but the large park across the street does not allow dogs. Walkability: Walkable to most of Carmel, the trek to the beach is a longish one.

Great location nice stay recommend for weekday only. Attention to details, some design touches, amenities in the lobby and the room. The buffet breakfast services was good, bread was good. Free bicycles was nice but the staffs didnt let us know until we discovered when we checked out. The location is unbeatable. The room size is actually a bit small. It is a motel renovated nicely with details. I paid about 220$ on a weekdays plus a surprise resort amenities fee of 42$, during high season or weekend they may charge 3 times which is not worth it, there are actually a Comfort Inn right next to it which charge 25% less if you just need a simple inn with location. Rooms: Details design touches and nice quality amenities. Walkability: Right at the downtown east to walk. Noteworthy details: Reasonable rate I paid 220$ plus tax and resort amenities fee 42$ on weekday but other date is not worth it to pay 300$ or more because it is just a motel renovated.

Very cute hotel, extremely esthetic, but very pretentious and borderline unpleasant service. Complimentary breakfast and nightly cookies are not so complementary as they charge you an additional $40 a day resort fee (with no way to opt out). Happy hour is only on weekend nights, and it s not possible to order a glass of wine (we were willing to pay) in the lobby if it s not Friday or Saturday. Room was extremely hot the entire time and there was no AC to cool it down and shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor.

I had higher expectations given the $600+ per night price tag. Upon arrival, there was no parking available in the lot and it was bumper-to-bumper traffic to circle the block in search of street parking. Then we were offered a glass of sparkling wine at check-in but I said Id rather drop my luggage in my room and come back for it...when I did, I was given the lobby price list for wines that start at $25 per glass...so Im not sure if I mistook the first offering as complimentary or they just forgot the conversation a few minutes prior. The rooms are nicely decorated and well-appointed but extremely small. A well-stocked mini bar is available in the room but it leaves no room left in the fridge if you have your own beverages you want to chill. The complimentary water and the nightly cookies delivered to the room are really nice touches. The location is fantastic...easy stroll to restaurants and sunset beach. We also appreciated the outdoor spaces...the patio by the front entrance as well as a group of chairs around a firepit. The breakfast offerings looked really nice but they ran out of eggs and pastries before we made it through the line and the items were awkwardly arranged (i.e. nowhere to stand while waiting if you chose to toast your bread and nowhere to set your plate if you needed 2 hands to uncap the jarred preserves). And it seemed as if every guest brought their dog. I do consider myself an animal lover but trying to navigate around all the animals in the tiny lobby at check-in or the cramped porch at breakfast were added detractors to the overall experience. The hotel recently opened so perhaps these things are just growing pains as they work out the kinks but when compared to stays at other hotels along our road trip, it was nice but not worth the hype.

The small rooms were decorated and made up very nicely every day. They did a great job with the tiny details. But, because of location the birds are really loud, they get noisy at like 5am. Do not plan on sleeping in on your stay.. especially if your in a 1st. floor room, ceiling creaks and you can hear every foot step of your above neighbor. Needed more storage. Night stands definitely need drawers, wasn t many places to put things away. Staff was great and did make our stay enjoyable. Loved all the small details, like how they thought of having a T3 hair dryer & straightener in the room & a heating bottle for your dog, was very clean too. & chocolate cookies were yummy! Rooms: Not great, the feel is very old lady or old school camp. I m sure it s great for the Insta crowd and Insta moment but if you re looking for luxury keep looking. Noteworthy details: We stayed at Palihouse in Santa Barbara and then again in Carmel. The brand seems to take over motels or old apartments, put a little lipstick on them and then brand them as upscale . They re okay, but definitely not worth the money. They offer a free happy hour but then charge a resort or amenities charge to make up for anything that s supposedly free. The rooms are fine, nothing great especially for $500+ a night. The shabby ruga, bed and linens very average, and the decor seems DYI.

Petite Palis champagne continental breafast was beautifully presented and delicous with a great variety of options. They serve your coffee in fancy teacups! Very cozy little place to stay. Although it is located on the far end of the Main Street, the property conveniently offers free bike rentals to get you around. The rooms were tiny, but clean! I was very pleased with the customer service as the manager was so helpful. The price was decent, and hotel staff will recommend nearby food and coffee for your stay. Parking seemed to be okay, but I noticed later in the evening that it was full. Although it lacks in amenities, it s so conveniently located next to the beach and Main Street that you will spend your time adventuring. There is also a park directly across the street that typically has group yoga in the morning. One of the best Italian restaurants is also located a couple hundred feet away so you can pick up food and bring it back to eat in a more peaceful environment. I also did not have any noise issues from other units which had many families. Very cozy place, would highly recommend for couples and families!

Way overpriced drive up motel. Since theres no AC youre forced to leave the windows up where youll hear cars come and go all night feet from your window. Other guests not realizing every word is heard inside the rooms. We heard every step in the room above us and there were various issues in the room (shower not draining, sink stop stuck closed, window crank fell off window, etc.) Shared feedback with front desk and informed them of the issues but there was no concern to take steps to make it right. Paid $420 during the week for the night and the room goes for $700+ per night on weekends. Crazy

You cant beat the location of the Getaway. All the best Carmel has to offer is just a few blocks away. The styling of the rooms is fun and modern. The bed was super comfortable, and the little table and chairs were great for eating takeout meals in the room. The temperature of our room remained almost 80 degrees for our entire 4-night stay despite the outside temperate being cool and crisp. Uncomfortably hot! The bathroom was very small and our shower leaked onto the floor. Overall, the Getaway is cute and perfectly located but its older motel roots are still showing.

Location but... Room was unremarkable in all aspects. Considering a price of $355/night b4 taxes, one would expect a decent room size, no noisy bed, quiet sliding bathroon door, better TV cable programming, a more friendly behind-the counter staff, and more willingness to cut the room price, to reflect that on Tuesday our room was selling at $270/night. We booked The Getaway for a romantic, well, getaway, but this hotel seems to attract the party type. The walls are paper thin - we could actually hear our neighbors snoring - and theres a ton of activity in the hallway from guests and hotel staff alike. We requested a quiet room weeks before check-in and apparently that translated to the room next to the ice machine. When we asked for a quieter room, we were told that we could get one if we booked directly through their website and not Hotels.com. Whatever.

Small boutique hotel with flair, tasteful decoration and well located, although loud due to large intersection and thin walls. The lobby area is a nice hangout, but it s lacking a proper breakfast place. Parking is ample. Prices rather hefty for what you get, but that s Carmel.

The Pros: new rooms, clean room, architecture design beautiful place. The cons: for the price I pay $290 (with taxes) for a King bed: I just have 2 towels, there is no A/C just a fan and a fireplace, the bathroom is beautiful but rustic, there is no door that separates the room from the toilet just a hanging type of door, the shower has absolute not pressure and is a motel, also now during covid, the breakfast is in your room, and no refrigerator.

Great place! Dog friendly! We enjoyed the room, super cute, clean and modern. Had a free glass of wine during happy hour. Loved the bon fires too. Thanks!

March 24, 2022

Very noisy, not a chance to relax or spend a good night, cars and trucks passing constantly (to close to the Main Street). Easy to hear people talking outside of every room or hanging on the fireplaces, and if you are staying on the first floor you ll be able to listen to every step above you. It s like a modern MOTEL . Carpets are really stained, should have a deep cleaning or change them Not coming back.

Great atmosphere. We enjoyed the cheese and wine that was offered in the evening. The room was beautiful. We were not aware the room didn t have an air conditioner, so that was a surprise. I was comfortable with the fan, but we would ve enjoyed the stay more with an air conditioner. The complimentary breakfast was good, included pastries, yogurt, coffee, and juice. The hotel was nice walking distance to downtown shops.

It s a well marketed place. The room has nice touches, and is well decorated. They fall short on the other; which makes it clear that it s an upscale roadside motel. Not enough and stupid small parking spaces (watched a number of cars try and fit between the lines and leave. Those are NOT regulation), also the happy hour is a little sad. A baseline chard and a red and the breakfast is Costco pick up. No non sugar or carb options, just don t do it). I would not pay 300 plus for this place again.

Stayed here a couple weeks ago with a friend and it was great! The fireplaces in the room came in handy after getting back from the beach at sunrise and when coming back in the evening. The rooms were decorated well and felt like we were staying in a beachside cottage. The hotel is right off the main street where all the shops in the downtown area are and is also just a quick bike or car ride away from the beach. We enjoyed the wine/cheese that was offered in the evening and the firepit was a nice spot to sit and get to know some of the others staying at the hotel. The staff was very accommodating during our stay as well and offered good recommendations for restaurants nearby for us to check out. All in all, would highly recommend staying here the next time youre in Carmel!

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip due to COVID-19. The cancellation process was absolutely seamless, and weve already received our money back. And precisely because this hotel acted so quickly and easily despite the circumstances, we promise to book again!!! We dont know when yet, but definitely this hotel!!! You are great!!! Thank you and stay healthy! The Bamberger family

Cute boutique motel, very friendly and helpful staff. They have wine from 5-6 and 2 fire places, so cozy! You can sit outside and watch the hummingbirds, just beautiful. Its about 9 super cute blocks to the beach. Youll pass yummy restaurants and great shops and arrive to a big dog friendly beach. The neighborhood is filled with some beautiful homes, no matter what street you go down. I cant wait to visit again.

Great staff, cute rooms, very clean. 4 stars due to the location of our room. Number 1 is on the ground floor with a large window right beside a city bus stop. It also shares a wall with the office, so around 5:30 AM you continually hear busses followed by banging around by staff-and never really stops. So make sure to ask for a different room than #1.

Will definitely stay here again. Super cute motel thats located in downtown Carmel. Nicely remodeled rooms and insanely comfortable bed. They offer a daily free wine happy hour from 5-6 where you can enjoy the wine around their inviting firepits. Continental breakfast is brought directly to you door. The only downside is the low water pressure in the shower. That will not deter me from staying here again.

We decided to stay here after having a poor experience at another inn. Great and attentive to your needs and wants. During Covid still offering happy hour and continental breakfast delivered to your room. During happy hour after speaking to other guests, they have made an effort during Covid to continue offering the same high level of experience. Would stay again for sure.

I cant say enough amazing things about this hotel. We showed up around 7pm the night before Thanksgiving to see if they had any availability and they offered us an absolutely adorable and cozy room which was exactly what we needed. Allison was beyond welcoming and kind from the moment we got there and even gave us a discount because our fireplace wasnt working. I cant believe what a great deal we got on the room! We got a king size bed that was on the second floor and we were so happy with it! Its super renovated and modern with a spacious bathroom and great layout; the walls are thick and the windows have black out curtains so theres plenty of privacy. Not to mention they have Malin + Goetz products in the bathrooms!!! The hotel has pretty ample parking right in front of the rooms, like all in the same complex, which makes it really easy to unload bags and adds for great security. Amenities-wise, its great. There are two cozy fire pits and an area outside with seating where guests love to hang out and drink, us included! The hotel still offers a socially distanced and Covid friendly happy hour with complimentary wine and they are super thorough with disinfecting and protocol. The complimentary breakfast every morning is delicious and individually packaged, it comes with coffee and orange juice and we loved the yogurt parfait and the pastries/croissants! Not to mention they are incredibly dog friendly and many of the guests brought dogs with them. It s also incredibly conveniently located and just a street away from all the shops/restaurants/etc. We happened upon this place in a very last minute way and I cannot wait to come back here next time I am in Carmel! Allison was also incredibly helpful with local suggestions for things to do in the area, especially hikes. And like I said, they are so accommodating; I needed a food grade refrigerator for my dogs fresh food and they stored it for me every morning and night. They have someone at the front desk 24/7 and everyone we interacted with was super friendly and welcoming!! Highly recommend The Getaway :)

This place is so cozy/cute and amazing staff, they gave us the best service, attentive to details all the time. Bed and sheets were one of the most comfortable We ve ever used. The happy hour from 5-6pm was definitely a treat and the fireplaces complete the experience. We stayed in room 1 but they made sure to call and explain about the noise that comes from the street and if we didn t like it they were willing to change our room. We didn t have a problem with it but depending on your sensitivity to noise, just ask for another room and I m sure you ll have a great experience. Definitely will be back!!

Needed to get out of my apartment for a change of scenery and had a short stay at the Gateway. It s pet friendly and in a great spot (right off Ocean Ave). They have made the experience very light in contact due to COVID and were active about checking in via text messages. I stayed in a room on the 2nd floor and it was clean, cute, and pretty quiet. Due to COVID, they package breakfast for you and bring it to your room which was a really nice touch. The only negative for me was the room I stayed in didn t have AC. Since I visited in February, the combination of the fan and open windows helped cool the room down at night, but if you which visit during warmer weather, you may not get the room as cool as you like. I would definitely come back!

The staff was rude and unattentive. The room was incovenient in every way. The card keys stopped working multiple times. Avoid at all costs, there are plenty of great options in Carmel, this is definitely not one. This is where one would expect to stay if they die and go to hell.

The Getaway is a total gem! Kevin and his team have done a remarkable job with every facet of their hotel--the design is beautiful and fresh, the rooms are meticulously maintained, the location couldnt be more convenient, the personality is fun and relaxed, the complimentary wine and breakfast offerings are way over the top, and everyone on the team is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Over the years weve visited at least a half-dozen hotels in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and someone finally got it right--wed gladly jump at the opportunity to return.

the hotel & staff were really superb!! I cannot express this strongly enough!! the hotel was really well updated, great interior design, very clean and comfortable! the location is also superb, easy walking distance to the beach and all the wonderful carmel shops & restaurants! a great location like this is something we always look for in a hotel--its always nice not to drive! the complimentary wine & cheese in the afternoon are such a wonderful offering! its so relaxing to sit on their patio and chat up some of the other guests while enjoying the food & drink! kevin, the manager, was such a kind & informative person! he really helped make our stay more pleasant! so often theres under-trained staff working at hotels (even really nice 5 star hotels), theyre either uninformed or have a bit of attitude, its really sad how prevalent that is. it was so refreshing dealing with kevin--he really has the guests best interests at heart and is a really great representation of the hotel and their priorities!

We came for a two night stay for a relaxing weekend away. Had never stayed here before and came here based on location and reviews. We are so pleased we chose this hotel. Small and modern. Very clean and everyone is super friendly. We arrived to a gathering in the main office room of wine and cheese and sat by the fire to play connect 4 and jenga. They offer coffee and tea service all day in the office too. The morning breakfast buffet is by far the best hotel Breakfast we have ever had. Very tasty. Right near downtown and we walked around downtown for a while. The location is perfect. There are cruiser bikes available for guests so you can ride around. We preferred to walk, but that s a great option. Rooms are very neat and clean and the beds are very comfortable. Large shower, closet and nice robes available to wear. There are room safes for your valuables in the tv cabinet. This is a fantastic place to stay, we will definitely stay again next time we are in the area. After a couple of days at the Getaway, our only suggestion would be a small cabinet in the bathroom for a little counter space for toiletries. The pedestal sink doesn t allow for any place to put anything.

Very nice location a bloc away from the center of town in Carmel with parking on the property. Nice room, very comfortable bed and linnen and the breakfast was really good and was included in our stay. They have a little happy hour in the afternoon but we did not attend as we were resting from our travels. One little negative and the only reason for not giving it a 5 star is that the sound travels easily through the walls and the neigbours arguing was a little awkward to hear through the walls. at next reno, maybe add more soundproofing material. Overall, great place to stay and lovely people to do business with
