720 Hill St, Capitola, CA 95010, United States
Straightforward hotel featuring an outdoor pool, as well as complimentary breakfast & Wi-Fi.
We did not have a good experience with this hotel. The room itself was okay, however the bathroom door barely closed all the way and did not lock. I had multiple billing issues. When I booked the room it was for $157, then the day of they billed me $179, then when I left the bill had jumped to over $200. When I called them to check on the status of my complaint, the lady at the desk was kind of short with me and acted like she had better things to do. We will not be returning to this hotel.
Very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast unexciting: cereal, yogurt and waffles, snooze. TV tiny. Nice location: close to restaurants, freeway, beach, and market.
I stayed here for a week during a work trip. The staff are nice enough but there were some issues with the room. First, the split unit HVAC smelled like someone or something had urinated in it. I let the front desk know on my way out on the first morning and they assured me that it would be taken care of but nothing changed so I just turned it off and slept with the balcony door open. It didn't smell like that outside so I don't think it was an outdoor odor being pumped in. Either way it's not real nice having that blasted right into your face when you're laying in bed. Otherwise the rooms seemed pretty clean. Hot water on the first two days was in short supply and strangely non-existent in the evening. In an attempt to clean my coffee tumbler and water bottle after returning from work I left the sink running for over five minutes, checking several times, and couldn't get more than lukewarm water. Showers were lukewarm the first two days. There was also what sounded like a maintenance person (lots of jingling keys) walking around at like 4:30am that woke me up the first few nights and they don't seem to care about being quiet or not letting doors slam. If I had to guess they're probably turning the water heaters on before everyone gets in the shower. This changed a couple days into the stay; I had hot water at night and wasn't woken again. The TV in the room is tiny, the smallest I've seen in years of travel, but I was able to hook up my Chromecast with no problem so that was nice. There's also a fairly large mini fridge with a separate freezer section, much better for longer stays than the typical offering. Breakfast is pretty basic which is to be expected, lots of cheap carbs like mini muffins and danishes and some yogurt is available. I think the only hot option is a waffle maker. It all seemed fresh, nothing was old or stale. I can't really speak to the location as I didn't go out but coworkers mentioned that were some decent spots nearby so three stars for that. It's certainly better than being isolated on some hotel property in the middle of nowhere. Lots of GrubHub options and I particularly liked Mayflower Chinese and Taqueria Agave. Overall it's not the worst place I've stayed but I wouldn't stay here again if I had a choice. The HVAC smell was pretty rough and if my stay were during a time where I needed to use the HVAC it would have been brutal. I got lucky and the overnight temps were cool enough to not need it.
Great little place to stay. My room was nice on the second floor with one king bed. Clean room. Nice bathroom. And the staff were impeccable! Great location! You can walk to downtown Capitola and the beach. And they offer a limited item breakfast in the mornings.
Positive: The mattress was firm but not too firm.. The location was excellent. Negative: The breakfast wasn't very good. The bath towels are tiny and not bleached enough.
The room was clean and comfortable, although there was a smell from a cleaning product. If you are affected by chemical smells, it’s best to avoid this chain. We had a far worse chemical smell experience at the Quality Inn in a nearby California town, and the problem was acknowledged by an employee who said other guests had complained about it. But getting back to Capitola, the front desk person was touchy when we asked for something which had not been attended to even though we had requested it while making the online reservation. We understand that online requests are sometimes overlooked, but that's not the guests' fault so no need to be touchy! All the rooms have a patio or balcony, and we were happy to see during this visit there was a dowel to ensure the glass door could not be opened from the outside. There is a grab bar in the shower/tub combo. The breakfast has the usual muffins, etc. Unfortunately, there are no healthy choices except for apples and oranges. This property used to have plain instant oatmeal packets, but not this time.
Great hotel for the price, loved that it’s a little tucked away and not in central Santa Cruz. The things I didn’t like was that the room keys kept not working (new employee I think) and that the shower head had a weird spray and wasn’t able to adjust. It made taking a shower less than comfortable and that’s not what you pay to stay at a hotel for. Change the shower heads and this is a 5 star review!
(UPDATE: DO NOT STAY HERE. Since writing this review and checking out yesterday, someone at this hotel just ran my credit card Again today. They will run your credit card multiple times. My total was $246.20 and they ran my card an ADDITIONAL $615.50) The male who checked me in failed to tell me there would be major disruptive construction in my building and the building next to mine. My stay was supposed to be for 3 nights. I checked out a day early due to noise and walking out of my room into a construction zone. Had I not checked with the front desk 5 minutes prior(I happened to be stepping out at the same time) my room would have gotten a door handle replacement along with a ton of sawdust all over my belongings. I had requested a do not disturb upon check in and even then, the guy was about to go into my room anyway. I decided to check out then and there. I didn't see any other cars or guests during my stay, and the agent rudely suggested that 5 other guests in my building were all informed of the construction and that I was the only one who had an issue with it. Sure. The exit/entrance doors to my building were obstructed as I loaded my vehicle and also FILTHY. On top of this, the man charged my card 3 times for 3 different amounts. This happened before with the same male agent. I could only assume because because he is trying to upset me or because he is incompetent. Either way is not a good look for any establishment. The only positive thing to say about this place is the woman who has helped me in the past at the front desk is excellent. Also, one of the only areas where there aren't any homeless encampments near by. That's it! Glad to take my business elsewhere.
Nice room and patio area.
Nice rooms. A little hard to find hotel. Nearby activities: Near Peets Coffee and Nob Hill Grocery. Not far from Capitola pier area.
Rooms: Great clean some have kitchens in them Nearby activities: Walk to beach grocery laundry food. Walkability: Beach like 10 min walk grocery laundry dairy queen 2 mins away Food and drinks: Dairy queen grocery bakery
I have been coming to this hotel for many years. The hotel itself has always been very comfortable peaceful and relaxing and nice rooms. However this time My stay was quite troubled due to the attitude of the employee at the front desk. An angry little man named Patel was very rude to me during breakfast time and when I asked for a little bit of a later check out he said no and hung up the phone. I know for a fact there was only a few other people staying at this hotel at the time and no one was checking in so he definitely could have let me have a lete checkout. I had to go to surgery at 2:30 that day so thats why I wanted a little extra waiting time in the room but he was very rude and just hung the phone up on me. Next one I went into the office to ask for a receipt he was extremely rude and told me I did not follow the hotel rules and was yelling loudly in a very unprofessional manner.
Clean comfortable beds and quiet Walkability: Great fruit stand down the street Rooms : 5/5 |
Wont stay here again. Took the desk clerk over 20 minutes to get back to the lobby desk and no one there to check us in after a long drive. No elevators and I just had surgery and had to haul luggage up 2 flights of stairs..all the units are separate dwellings its a run down place
Spacious clean room with little balcony. Was perfect for my mini-vacation. Will definitely be back. Walkability: Wandered out the front door and past several fine places to eat before settling on a nice Thai restaurant.
Adequate at best
Nice, quiet, clean, and convenient to stores
This is a great place! We had no complaints! Rooms for just sleeping were more than adequate. Clean. Quiet. Location to leave car for the day and walk a mile to beach and eateries and shops is great and you wont have to pay to park nor look for as place to park. Breakfast has variety, minus protein, but cereal, toast, waffles, fruit, coffee, juice, milk. We will be back.
Very clean
We had nothing to complain about for an overnight stay. Nice area, clean rooms, and a comfortable bed. The price/performance ratio is good.
I was just picking up a friend but the place looks a million times better than it used to.
Nearby activities: Near Capitola Beach Rooms
This is a very old worn out hotel.
Hotel was well enough for the price point and being close to the beach and ease of access to the freeway to get over to Santa Cruz and other nearby adventures. The rooms are larger than other hotel rooms however outdated. Mine had ants in one of the corners. The balcony is unusable. It is very small. When you sit in the chairs the walls are higher than the view from the chair and the AC is discharging right into the balcony space. The breakfast was not a typical choice hotel breakfast. The only hot food was one waffle maker that everyone was waiting to use. Other Choice hotels offer eggs, sausage, and biscuits with the standard cereal and pastry options. We ended up seeking nearby restaurants for breakfast.
Clean. Comfortable.
I didn t have the opportunity to stay here because I unfortunately got Covid the morning that I was supposed to check in. The service I received dealing with my cancellation was excellent however and very human. If it is any indication of the people who run the hotel, I would certainly not hesitate to book here again in the future.
Easy access from the highway. Next to nob hill and also dairy queen. Its away from the overpopulation in capitola village but close enough to ride a bike.
Nice clean and quiet accommodations.
Clean room, very comfortable bed, friendly staff. Would absolutely stay here again. Walking distance to Capitola village Walkability: Easy walk to the beach
Fantastic hotel very nice very clean
Only complaint is the walls couldve been thicker, and no breakfast included. Otherwise it was a nice clean room, parking was close by, had a small balcony. And overall vibes were quite. Id stay here again
Super clean Super private
Good value. Clean rooms. Quiet! Love the layout, where no shared walls. Close to grocery stores and close to Capitola Village.
Location is excellent and beds are very comfortable. Rooms are noisy but reasonably spacious. Prices are high, but this is a tourist destination.
Ive stayed nicer places.
It was one of the dirtiest hotel we stayed in. As soon as I stepped into the room I knew I wasnt going to enjoy my stay. There were spiderwebs in the room. The patio was dirty. We found dirty rusty Nails due to construction work they were currently doing. When we asked for room service for our first night, the man at the front said he would have someone clean it. When we got back to our room, the room had not been cleaned. So when we asked later that night what happened, the same man said they only provide room service every 3rd night. So he was not clear with this to start with. We would not be coming back to this place.
Had an amazing couple of days. If you eat at Shadowbrook Restaurant, they have a free taxi that will pick you up and bring you back. The drivers name was Don. He was a Blast. Definitely will stay again!!!
Clean, quiet room and a hot breakfast. The desk clerk was super friendly and informative.
Rooms were not clean. I notice spider webs all over and dead small flies in the bathroom wall. Will not stay here again or any Quality Inn ever.
Everything was fine. Big room.
Its a Quality Inn and it did what it had to do. The front desk service was very friendly and helpful (we needed a room switch), the room was comfy, the location was fine, parking was easy, and the amenities were enough. No complaints.
Our room was small but it worked for what we needed .. location is quiet..love how it sits a little high on a hill..complimentary breakfast was good. Great selection and delicious coffee..price was affordable..it was a busy weekend in Monterey and this place was available even tho its in Capitola..about 50 minutes away
Rudeness and lack of respect by the receptionist.
Decent room, ok breakfast. The place is a bit outdated especially the lobby. Low energy. It needs a little bit more love. Meets the QI standard but at this level, the prices are definitely on the high side.
Really well kept place in a good location but walls are paper thin. You hear a lot from your neighbors.
Nice but needs some updates
Comfortable rooms in a good location
Very nice and different Rooms: Nice a quiet Rooms : 4/5 |
This is always a nice clean place to stay...convient location...nice staff...continental breakfast is back and very nice. Rooms: Very clean Nearby activities: Located next to the highway and has a shooting center across the way. Not far from the beach. Safety: Very safe
Great customer service and rooms
Nice clean units at a good price. Staff is very friendly.
Convenient, kind of old and run down, but there is a smoking area.
Great clean place. Better location.
Nice comfortable bed
Good location
The home fries for breakfast were great. Eating out on the beach was the best way to stay the day.
The most clean and friendly. The owner is always on top .we stay every time at least once a month.
Thanks Hank for the enjoyable stay and professionalism we received from you and your staff. We will be back again.
Excellent service
A little story for you: my 8 months pregnant wife and I were in the area for a wedding, so we booked a room here for one night. While we were at the wedding, my wife started having contractions because she was going into premature labor. While in the process of getting my wife admitted at the hospital, I called this hotel to tell them what was happening and that we wouldnt be able to check in that night! The cold response was basically sorry youre out of luck. They charged us for the room anyway. Yes, I know what your written policy is, but I was totally shocked at the lack of the staffs compassion given the circumstances.
Nice room, clean and comfortable, great staff, very friendly and accommodating. Good location. Will return!
Smallest balcony ever. Room service moves stuff to the point where we lost stuff.
Overall, the hotel is a budget friendly option with good value for the rate. The room was quiet and clean to come back to after a day exploring. The hotel definitely needs some updates, the hallways and balcony were dingy. However, service was great, we loved the packed breakfasts and coffee in the lobby. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
A nice quiet out of the way hotel.
I stayed here recently and the experience was mainly good. It was clean and mainly quiet. I needed to stay past check out time for some meetings that were delayed and they accommodated me and were very friendly. I was so grateful. Sadly it was pretty hot and the AC in my room was very loud and not very effective, so sleep was difficult.
Expensive
Came on Labor Day weekend so I payed too much. But they got me in. Not a bad place. Clean enough. And close enough to the fun stuff. Certainly not a Marriott. So if youre planning on spending lots of time in your room go somewhere else. Looks like they might be making some improvements as well. Id come back.
More or less
Pretty nice, and less expensive than other options in the Capitola/Santa Cruz vicinity. Not bad for the price, considering you get a clean and spacious room, an outdoor balcony (no views, but nice weather!), and an okay to-go breakfast bag (ours contained fresh fruit, pastries, and a microwave egg-and-bacon biscuit sandwich.) No complaints!
Easy booking. Excellent stay. We really enjoyed the many amenities. Their grab and go breakfast is an outstanding success.
Seems to be good. Everything around Santa Cruz is dreadfully expensive and this location does not fail to be costly.
Gave it s 4 for the beds. Really small tvs made me want to give it a 3 star, but a nice little deck. Clean. Vary close to shadow brooke and Capitola village
I start with what I did like: they gave me late check-out, the bed/pillows were comfy & the grounds felt safe. That said... I booked a King Suite w/fireplace that wasnt ready at check-in. Front desk said it would be ready in 10 min. I went to the room, the door was open, I walked in and saw that they hadnt even STARTED on it. I had a meeting to be on soon. I went back to the front desk. Same guy said, I guess they need longer. It should only be 30 minutes. I said, 30 minutes to clean that huge suite???? I had only seen one woman working, so I said I have to be on a meeting soon, so I guess Ill have to take it elsewhere. A different guy followed me out (just starting his shift) and said Wait! I could put you in family suite now. Iy was nice that at least he tried to find a solution, so I said yes. Sadly, it was smaller than the King Suite and that it didnt have a fireplace Id booked and was looking forward to. However, since I had that online meeting, I needed a room ASAP. There were crumbs on the table, & old lettuce on the kitchen counter. The bathroom tub had a hair in the drain, a long curly black hair on the floor and a hair stuck to the towel rack. The other bathroom had a hair in the sink. The headboard of the bed I slept was very dusty, and I saw crumbs on the floor. I hoped to sit on the patio, but it was next to the parking lot and the path to the parking lot, and not private. I am a Choice Rewards member and very disappointed in my stay. I spent points plus cash for all these issues. Wish I could get my points back, at the very least.
Pleasant, clean, freindly and easy parking.
Clean, comfortable and Nob Hill a very short walk. A very good sushi place less than a 5 minute easy walk called Sushi Garde. A pizza place I didnt get to but is in the same shopping area as Nob Hill. A Rite-Aid is also in the same shopping area. The main part of Capitol can be walked to but a little to far me. Drove there within 5 minutes. I will definitely stay at this Quality Inn again.
Solid, great beds and shower. Quiet.
Fairly average hotel. Buildings and grounds are a bit run down. Staff was helpful and friendly but not overly. We had the double Queen bed room which was quite large. Room had a small fridge and small microwave. Bathroom was a bit dingy with white tile grout that was mostly all black with dirt or ??
Really nice rooms and a reasonable rate considering how expensive the hotels near the beaches have been of late.
Quietly tucked off main highway. Rooms a tad small. Bathrooms recently renovated. No grab n go breakfast as advertised, but not a deal breaker. Some guests were loudly leaving at 4:30am, but not the hotels fault. Clean and comfortable.
If youre looking for a safe and quaint location, affordable and family friendly, and close to everything Santa Cruz has to offer, look no further than this Quality Inn in Capitola. I was looking for a safe location for my daughter and I. We were indeed comfortable and safe. Comfy bed, fridge and microwave in the room, and a small balcony. The bathroom was big and well-stocked. The housekeeping crew had great attention to detail. Completely hassle-free reservation, check-in, and check-out. We had a very pleasant time.
Great rooms a little steep on the price but it was a nice stay
Well, they treated me wonderfully but on Wednesday they couldnt serve me because they didnt have Internet
Stay was ok. Not what I expected, though, from the online descriptions. Name of hotel is Quality Inn & Suites Capitola By The Sea. Well, this hotel is NOT by the sea, even though its implied in the name. It is actually about 1 mile inland. There is no elevator, so if you like to stay on the top (2nd) floor, you must carry your luggage up the stairs -- and back down again. Breakfast was closed due to CV19. Building is on the older side, but our room had been decently remodeled. Staff was nice and helpful.
This place is amazing! I m staying here for business and I have to say is it is hands down the best place to be. Rooms are nice and clean. Friendly staff and very helpful. In these times with all the things going on they are going Beyond the call of duty to make sure that each room is Sanitized for each guest and making sure that each guest feels safe! I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is visiting here 100%!
Very comfortable and clean.
Stayed last weekend. Place was great! Beach is very close and overall a great stay! Will definitely return!
Close to the beach but location is clean and safe. Not the prettiest hotel but it serves its purpose.
Very clean and quiet.
I chose to stay at the Choice hotels when I travel to get those points! This place is nice because its super close to the beach and down town shoping areas. However there isnt a hot tub and the TV in the room is super small.
Good spot, very close to Capitola Beach... Just a quick drive. Lot of nearby shops and places to eat. Hotel has no elevator but it was no problem for us, no breakfast at the moment but we just had door dash deliver or go out to eat. Will definitely be back at this hotel. (:
Very friendly hotel, we been here for business with American Pavement Systems (APS) for over a month and it s been a great stay! The owner of this hotel definitely has a lot of pride in this hotel and cares for his guests. Also this hotel is not designed for big truck parking but we spoke with the owner and he accommodated us by let us cone off 5 parking stalls daily for are super dump. Even the weekend when we wanted to go home, the owner let us leave our truck in his parking lot coned off. The rooms are super clean. The staff and maids are very friendly. Props to the maids who go to each room every single day to make sure it s clean and sanitized during times like this. No other hotels are cleaning there room but this one is. This hotel has a lot of care for there customers, it definitely shows when you stay here. We loved the fact that not only is it clean on the out side its clean on the inside and remodeled. The owner will be out and around the complex daily, super nice guy! We will definitely be back in the future. Come stay, you will not be dissatisfied. 5 stars definitely!
Great location and Staff made me feel very welcome.Thank You
Visited a guest and the hotels location is ideal and clean rooms.
On December 26th, 2020, my family and I left San Jose for a drive with no destination in mind. We ended up at this fabulous place for a one night stay!! Before we checked in at 1pm, we spent time at Capitola Village where we put our toes in the sand and got to-go items for lunch (Pizza My Heart, Margaritaville, and Paradise Beach Grille). We walked from the hotel to Nob Hill (less than 10 minute walk) for some additional snacks for our kindergartners. We will be coming back! Thank you!!!
Remodeling is still happening.
The Quality Inn in Capitola, is run down, poorly maintained and needs a complete overhaul.
Very clean. Nice location.
Comfortable pleasant stay. Apparently good value for this area. Lake check out also helped me out. Smoking area was a great place to do homework.
Good price, clean, and great location.
Decent size room. Bed was comfortable. Hotel pretty old and a little run down. Breakfast included with room was a coffee machine in the lobby and a tray of dry stale pastries.
Great hotel. Spent 1 night here, and really enjoyed my experience. One downside is small TVs, but it doesnt matter to many people
WE enjoyed our time at the Inn. Really enjoyed our breakfast.
Good service, great rooms, good continental breakfast.
Quiet, comfortable but dated, rooms. Breakfast was good, the heated pool was great . The management was very quick to act when a problem was pointed out. Well be back!
We were so pleased with everything about our stay at this Quality Inn. I booked our rooms over the phone with the manager and was able to get a great price. The rooms were spotless and resort like with their modern decor. The bathrooms had the longest granite counter tops that allowed us tons of storage and area to get ready in the morning and the bathrooms were sparkling clean. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were very spacious compared to other similar hotels and we felt quite at home. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and made the room even more of a value as we did not have to go out for breakfast every morning. When we booked the room, we did not realize that the pool was heated. At the end of a day of sightseeing, a swim in the pool was so relaxing. The courtyard was beautiful and filled with colorful flowers and tropical plants. Each room had a private patio/balcony as well. You can tell that the manager and staff take great pride in their work. The manager gave us a beautifully illustrated card of Capitola at checkout. That was one of the special touches that made this Quality Inn second to none.
Friendly staff. Great price and location. Bed was comfortable. Lots of great restaurants near the hotel. Downfall, cant order stuff on the TV and every time the maid cleans she unplugged the dish. Son.vit takes 10 minutes to reset. Then, the guide doesnt work! Ahg. Downfall #2, the breakfast. Im happy for a breakfast included but the eggs and bacon were odd. Microwave bacon? Fake eggs? The waffles were good. Potatoes were good and spicy. With all that in mind, Id still come back. Great price and location, I can avoid the eggs and bacon.
Our suite was nice and clean and spacious. About a 20 min walk to downtown.
Clean 2 star hotel offering complimentary breakfast. Safe location close to many stores and restaurants.
Big clean rooms. Not fancy but budget friendly
Extremely cute hotel in a very cute town. Not far from the beach
I absolutely Loved staying here. Very private, beautiful, shops across the street and the ocean minutes away. I loved it.
Meh
Good place to stay clean & comfy beds. Its a quite location very close to everything.
Clean rooms and friendly service
Ank was very helpful. The customer service was perfect. Rooms were clean and the pool was wonderful. We will be coming back!!
Nice rooms. The building is a bit rundown, but wouldnt stop us from staying again.
Stayed here for a few days..nice place
The place was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, has a good frig with freezer, microwave worked well. Good breakfast. I was very pleased .with my stay. Manager was super nice. Id stay again.
Owner was friendly and helpful. It has was recently remodeled so everything is in great shape. It was very quiet. The refrigerator was so cold it froze my drinks. Unless you cave for the boardwalk, its in a great location. Its right off of highway 1. There is a small shopping right across the street.
Ok The accomodations were a bit less than the Quality Inn we stayed in Eugene, Oregon. The breakfast was pretty weak. We dont recommend this place.
Staff was very accommodating. Good location for going inland or to the ocean.
Clean and quiet rooms.
Convenient
A great place
Very nice and close to several attractions.
Love this place
Good price and walking to down town is short
Nice place, private! Great staff very helpful and accommodateing
check in was quick and easy. room was nice and clean. gayles is close by a santa cruz favorite.
Cool place. 5 minutes from downtown
Clean Place
Good location, but poor amenities
Just beautiful
This place is such a hidden gem! Not only were they accomidating, professional and courteous the night attendant gave us such great customer service. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Staff was amazing very nice and accommodating The hotel was very clean and the grounds well kept
Decent place to overnight. 20 minute walk to the beach. Beds were comfortable, place was clean but nothing special. Pool is small and the breakfast was unremarkable. For the price, I expected more.
Very clean, nice room for the price
Great service and location will be back
Great breakfast. Refrigerator. Microwave, coffee pot in room.
I have stayed at many hotels and quality inns across the country and can say this place felt like the opposite of quality. Although the area in general is janky so the only other alternatives are the three high end hotels which are often sold out.
Check in was fast room very clean Ank was great very friendly
Very pleasant Hotel experience. Pedro at the front desk was professionally helpful from the initial call to check in. The location is lovely surrounded by trees on a little hill with an expansive lawn offering seating areas. Sunlit hallways to the nicely appointed rooms. The rooms are very clean and everything smells clean and fresh . The beds are completely comfortable and the linens of good quality. The rooms have small patios to add that extra touch. There is a pool for the guests. Free breakfast offered is quite plentiful, with something for everyone. The most fun was making your own waffles. There was cereal, fruit, eggs, potatoes, sausages, juices and coffee. Oh, and did I mention the waffles? Plenty of butter, syrup and condiments of course. I found this location to be centrally located to many of the things that draw you to Santa Cruz in the first place. It is close to Nicene Marks Redwood forest as well as Henry Cowell redwood forest it is close to the famous Santa Cruz Pier and Boardwalk, the quaint Beach towns of Aptos and Capitola. Nice hotel in a good location.
Great price
Very nice hotel. Down the street from everything. Room was new, very clean, and very spacious with its own balcony. Would definitely stay here again!
Place is dated. Paint was peeling off the walls in a few places. Rooms are on the smaller side. Clean and friendly staff though.
Horrible hotel for the price. No view. No good restaurants near by. Its practically on the freeway and too congested to drive around to sightsee or relax. Find another place! SERIOUSLY!!!
Kinda of in a secluded area (so follow the map directions) which isnt a bad thing. Very nice, friendly staff, great breakfast selection, the rooms are nice, they are in the process of upgrading. Heated pool. Close enough to the Santa Cruz attractions but far enough away from the riff raff. We will stay here again when we are back in the area in September.
Very nice and clean rooms/ bathrooms. Kinda old but not broken down. Close to supermarket and Peets coffee-- walking distance. Pool is small but clean and heated. Porch is really small and every one has a bright light on it. A bit obnoxious! Staff is courteous and helpful. No elevators. Good parking. Beach is 20 minute walk or 5-10 minute drive. Shuttle pick up is close. Will recommend to others. Very close to hospital where I work. Smoking area is ok with tables and chairs but needs some beautification.
Stayed here for the Wharf to Wharf Run. Very clean, and conveniently located to the Capitola Village.
Conveniently located, with comfortable rooms. I was disappointed that the breakfast area didnt open until 7am.
Quiet and Clean but very limited attractions around the hotel!
The room is quite old, the counter staff is slow, and there is no elevator. The only thing I am satisfied with is the lemon ginger tea for breakfast, which is great to have in cold weather.
My family and I have stayed here every summer for the last 3 years and have never had a problem. Rooms are clean, pool is maintained and great for kids. Only reasons it isnt 5 stars is the price, but thats to be expected this close to the beach.
We love the room!! Very quiet spot. Good prices!
Very quiet. Friendly service
This is a very friendly, clean hotel. The complimentary breakfast is good. The rooms are large. A nice heated pool.
Lovely exterior, nice breakfast area, good rates.
We were looking to spend the night in Capitola for the Monte Foundation fireworks. The hotel was a little farther from the beach than we wanted but it was an easy 15-20 min walk down, especially for the price. Right across from the supermarket and CVS, 5-10min from Gayyles Bakery. Unfortunately there were no elevators so the 2nd floor room was just a little tougher to get to with 2 young children. Overall the rooms were adequately nice with free wifi, refrigerator, and microwave. We especially liked the free hot breakfast the next day, with bacon/sausage, eggs, potatoes, and waffle maker. Would definitely stay next time for a short budget family trip.
Very warm welcome. Very clean rooms. Impeccable bedding and pillows. Adorable pool. Full breakfasts. Respect for customers. Calm and pretty environment. Wi-Fi in the rooms. Safe. Fridge etc... Proximity to the village...
Always accomodationg, nice environment
Loved this place, great visit to Santa Cruz. Clean quiet and comfortable at excellent price last minute.
Very accommodating, air conditioning, room was nice and staff was really friendly!
Awesome place it was two bedrooms there was a hot and gym free parking cameras and lights work
Very nice
Just stopped by but it seemed nice
Hotel was nice. Our rooms got upgraded and were very large. Breakfast was kind of lame but its free so whatever. Over all very clean and friendly
Nice clean room good breakfast...
Clean... great view. Quiet place. Nice guy at the desk in the am.
Great front desk guy, horrible curry smell in the front building. The only way the beds could be worse is if they were made of spikes. Then the crappy continental breakfast ended at 10. Dont get there at 10:02!!! Never again.
Koo
Pool closed in winter. Mediocre breakfast but ample quantity. Walking distance to nob Hill, CVS, and Gayles Bakery and downtown capitola. Good value and friendly staff.
This is a joint review with the Shadowbrook Restaurant, because these two beauties have a complimentary taxi service that shuttles you between then both. Couldnt have made me any happier. Large rooms, quiet spaces, extremely clean, friendly staff who are also very helpful, and the most comfortable beds! What more could you want or need?! It was great. Just great.
A very nice hotel. Very nice, clean rooms, helpful staff, a very tasty full breakfast,. It is located close to groceries, a number of restraunts, Capitola village and the beach.
Clean and quiet rooms with a cool little patio. Rates werent bad and breakfast is included
Great location!
Its exactly what you would expect for a hotel of its cost. The room was clean, small, and lit well enough, and the lobby was nice.
This is a very clean basic no-frills hotel . Breakfast was more than just cinnamon rolls and hot coffee that was a bonus . Very quiet , would stay there again
