Target The Best One-Stop Shop in Santa Cruz Target in Santa Cruz is hands down the best place for everything you need around the house. When it comes to selection and prices, this store beats anywhere else in town at least that I ve found. Household essentials? Groceries? Fresh fruit and healthy options? The ability to walk in for toothpaste and leave with an entire cart of things you didn t know you needed? Also One of my favorite perks? The covered parking. No coming back to a car that s been slow-cooking in the sun just hop in and go. And let s talk about the self-checkout. Im generally happy with this Target, however they have smut books on the display column labeled as young adult. These are two very different genres of books and it is disappointing to see them combined with no warning of any kind.

The customer service people were nice, and apologetic, but they dont have Blu Rays or copies of PS5 games here. Plenty of vinyl records. Probably some VP of Sales trying to justify their MBA... Brick & Mortar is dead. They couldnt figure out Amazon. So they became Amazon.

I would like to share my recent experience with one of the clerks during my visit. Unfortunately, I found her to be unhelpful and unfriendly. I was attempting to purchase $1K worth of gift cards when she informed me, I can t help you because the limit is $2K . I clarified that I was only purchasing $1K worth, as another clerk had previously confirmed that limit. Her response was dismissive, and she didn t acknowledge or smile in response to my question. I was both disappointed and frustrated by her lack of professionalism, as her behavior seemed ill-suited for a customer service role. To make matters worse, she ignored my question and didn t even offer a thank you. I couldn t help but notice that her attitude was completely different when she assisted the next customer.

Nice clean store with knowledgeable staff.

Target was great, we were able to get what we needed, of course the store was packed and long lines, overall it was great, all the tellers were great.

Please pay attention to the Guest Experience especially in the restrooms. Cashier not able to call the Manager on Duty. Clueless actually. Felt bad for her. This means poor training on management. Located a Manager who put our the call. Im not staying around to make sure issues are addressed. Is this a Santa Cruz thing? I truly hope not.

Good selection, but customer service could be better.

The customer service at Target Capitola is vastly different than Scotts Valley. I used the self checkout a few times, and everyone was quite friendly and efficient. They also have a couple of employees on the register in the mornings, so shopping with a larger order isnt a problem. The Capitola store has a smaller selection compared to Scotts Valley. But I actually found my favorite crackers at Capitola after they were discontinued at Scotts Valley. That alone made me a fan of the Capitola store. This will be my Target store for now.

Not gonna lie this interaction stuck and usually this kind of stuff doesn t happen but so I ordered a in-pickup store purchase and came in about a couple hours later, @ 8:35pm on August 16th, still 4 hours before closing with several staff members around. I waited and the first guy doing stocking or some work asked if I needed something and I said yes I was waiting to pick up something and he said someone would be right with me, I get it I work multiple jobs in customer service and certain people can do task waited for (like leads or mods) but bro. After a couple of minutes one of the guys can t remember the face asks me at one of the registers behind if I had been helped and I said no he said someone would be right with me, another guy (he had glasses and locs) comes behind me and says can you actually like not gonna lie I would ve just walked out if I didn t purchase the item I did on sale already but this whole time wasted and not even wanting the entitlement of getting them item I purchased but just to be treated with respect after waiting and this guys attitude does not belong in a job place

Love this place in Capitola! They have lot s of interesting stuff. Within the city proper as well. You should definitely visit if you re visiting Santa Cruz and have something to buy!

Bad experience with one employee. I dont usually write reviews but this pissed me off. I was getting an electric shaver, I couldnt find and employee to unlock it so I asked another employee to call someone down. I waited 15 mins and no one came so I asked again, waited another 10 mins and no one came. Then I saw the employee that was supposed to help me, casually walking around the aisles. I asked if hes the guy with the keys and he said yes and came and unlocked it. I didnt bother asking why he didnt come when multiple employees called for him and I had to go find him because he clearly did not care

So me and my friend were testing out a football passing it short and some worker keeps looking at us. Finally he has the balls to tell us that we cannot pass the football and to stop. So we stopped and put the football back. Then I picked up a basketball and started dribbling the ball he then follows us, sees me dribbling the ball causing no harm. Then he gets 3 security guards to kick us out and ban us for life. We say that he only told us to stop throwing the football and then he says I told you to stop throwing and bouncing the ball which is a complete lie and I would bet my life on that. Then they escorted us out and said the would call of if we ever came back again. I am really disappointed and still cannot believe that the moment was real. Don t go to this target

Their bags from the caahier always rip their handles and your food falls on the ground. My milk bag broke as soon as i left the store because target gives defective bags. As i was walking to the store i saw another girl picking up her groceries off the ground because her target grocery bag just broke too. Lousy food selection. All the food is overpriced also. They charge more than twice the price of a few months ago. theres no way food inflated 150%, more likely they increased food prices more than the rise in inflation to make even more profit than before.

Pretty sweet target! It s two stories with an escalator right in the middle making it a pretty unique shopping experience compared to most targets. It has everything you d expect.. but the layout is a little strange. I found myself going up and down the levels multiple times. But the escalators make it pretty easy

I like Target the store itself ,from the food, to anything that you need at home, clothing, Target is there for you as far as supplies, however,, I have a little bit to say about the employees knowledge of their items as far as where they are, and if they carry them, I think target needs to give their employees more training as to the knowledge of what the items are that they do carry and as to where they are in the store, and they need to stop moving things all over the place a person wants to be able to know were an item is and walk right into the store and go directly to it always,,not have to be looking for and asking employees, and then they dont even know if they carry it, also as long as the employee has permission to leave the area from where they are standing they should always,,not just tell a customer oh its over there or its at this isle, they should take the customer to it find the item for the customer and give them a big smile and say here it is,,,, you know sometimes a customer is in a hurry and they need to just get the item and leave they dont have time to be looking all over the place,till an employee directs them,,, so at that point they may just give up and say Im out,,, so there it is Target loses a customer

Its a department store

Oh dear this is the most chaotic unorganized Target Ive ever been to. I felt really bad because I was with my cognitively impaired mother who gets frustrated easily and acts out. But the environment was not helping. So many employees just doing whatever they wanted, ignoring customers and chatting with each other. Waited 45 minutes to buy her a prepaid phone because the employee staffing the section just walked away and never came back even with multiple people waiting to buy stuff. Occasionally an employee would come to electronics to check out another employee buying stuff, then also walk away without helping anyone. Yikes. Finally a nice lady came and was able to work things out and she was patient with my mom which I appreciate. As my mom was trying to pay with her own debit card and didnt understand that she needed to insert the chip and not swipe it which was a frustrating situation for everyone.

Nice store, but they are constantly out of products I want such as (paper towels, food/beverage items, etc.) They dont answer ANY calls, not even in the electronics department, so I cannot call beforehand to check their inventory, poor customer service in that regard

04/28/2022 They had most of what I needed. There are two floors. Baby department is on 2nd floor. Self checkout was easy with the app. Plenty of parking in garage as well as to the right near the closed Sears store.

Moderate size store with fair variety of products. Well maintained and conveniently located in the city center.

Smallest and trashiest Target Ive ever been to, but its Santa Cruz so no surprise there. Hopefully the new one over in Scotts Valley will be better stocked and nicer

Wow what an improvement! I ve been doing pick up orders and it seems Target management read and listened to reviews about cackling female employees who were ignoring customers for pick up. Happy to say, at least from my experience, they have improved customer service! Kudos to the store manager/director!

If you need help with anything under lock and key, youre in for a wait. I was ignored by at least 4 different employees as I waited in the tech section for over 25 minutes. Not the first time its happened here either. This location misses the Target, by miles.

Literally the absolute worst target in the country. Nothing is ever in stock. Nothing. Even when it says online it s in stock it is indeed not. Don t bother wasting your time at this junk yard. You guys have one job and you can t fulfill it. Your employees are brainless. They also know nothing. They re never around when you need help but always conveniently sitting on their phones when you walk pass them. The management at this place has to be the biggest issue. When the store fails as a whole it s the management that truly is the failure. Has to be the most failure of a spot in Santa Cruz. Good job target for absolutely doing nothing right. You guys really do it best!

I used to like this target but recently they are out of stock of many products, the employees seem unhappy there, and I tried talking to a manager but some dude said they had no manager and the lady in the bun I ended up talking to was rly unhelpful and had a lot of attitude

Employees make expensive mistakes and are rude and lazy. They stand around talking to each other and hide from the check stands so the customers have to check themselves out.

Pretty cool lay out with 2 floors to shop. No android accessories. Just a bunch of IPhone cases and screen protectors

This Target curbside is ridiculous! What a waste of a bag! I am always having this same issue at capitola specifically. I Order a few things that can all fit in one bag but they separate them. I would have no issue if they did not charge me for bags.(I reuse them @ home)

I cant recall when it was but my girlfriend who went, and bought a turtle beach headset stealth 700 gen 2 originally was getting one for her new series s, and when she got it, and returned home her, and I both took a look at it, and tried furiously to get it to work only to find out that the headset that came in the box wasnt even for the correct system apparently someone salvaged these headsets, and thought the transmitter was in the box so everything should of been okay right? well unfortunately it didnt work tried updating to the computer with the transmitter, and the head but nothing work... so I told my girlfriend to return the headset, and get another one because I thought it was a fluke, and that it was just bad luck just to only have her get a new one but this time the headset was snapped in half, and there wasnt a transmitter, and there was glitter all over the headset... lovely my final verdict of Target, and Walmart is to never buy electronics or headphones from these companies we are lucky she had the money to buy all of these because if these were gifts youre love ones would be moaning the fact they dont work, and youll have to hurry back to the store, and ask for your money back... I suggest buying things from either best buy or game stop if you want good quality electronics!

Ample parking and quick service.

Store is dirty, nothing in inventory and staff is really rude when you ask to see if they have something in inventory last time they said they felt harassed by a simple question makes you not want to go back.

Horrible Target. The team leads treat their employees like garbage. I was standing in line and witnessed them nitpicking the cashiers all the while they were chatting it up at self checkout with their phones out obviously not doing anything of importance.

The manager on duty went out of his way for me. Cant tell you the details as it is a case by case thing they can do. It was evening, he was Latino and I wish I remembered his name. The cashier who asked him was also great for not minding asking even though there was a line and we were nearly complete. Kind and human team. Thank you Capitola

Target in Capitola has it all. The store is rather new so its always clean and stocked to the nines. Its also located at the end of a mall, with koles and Macys right out the door. I love that. The Chiles is also close and I love to take a quick Breck while I shop there to catch up on sports or to have a refreshing margarita The staff can be alittle busy but when they do get to you they are always pleasant and knowledgeable. This target has been a great addition to out city and mall. I shop here when I want a large variety of things all in one place.

Many things often out of stock at this Target location. It is sad because it is the only one nearby. The store could be better run and kept.

My girl and i love target with a passion and frequently use the pick up option for when we buy our groceries today we put in a order since 7:30 said we ll pick up today it s now 9:36 been calling constantly since 9:20ish and no answer they keep hanging up after a couple minutes

Ive shopped here for about 3 years now. The only issue I ever had was when I was trying to get help and the two employees were talking about their party the night before. I stood there, and after a couple of minutes, I cleared my throat and politely said, Hey ladies, Im so glad you both scored last night, but would you please assist me? They turned bright red and helped me. Now when I come in and if I see either one of them, theyre so wonderful. Tommy, the greeter at the door is super sweet and everyone is fantastic and will go out of their way to help find things.

Price gouging via bag fees. Minimum fee you charge for bags is 10 bags ($2.50), site states that will be refunded if you do not accept the bags. I refused the bags and only .50 was refunded. This is ridiculous as when the order is bagged, they know exactly how many bags are being used for that order. Bags need to be a separate line item that are refundable, like any other line item. Also, my order consisted of one bag and the delivery person brought an empty bag as well.

The kids that work there are great but the company is terrible I ordered one little blanket and I was charged for 10 bags. I never received any bags the blanket was in a box and they just brought it out the way it came.

I live in the neighborhood so love this store but very poorly managed. They had at 4pm Wed. May 13th about 15 of us waiting in one line. Of course they accomadate us by haveing (1) thats ONE singular cashier open. They had the self checkout but not moving. So pinched nerve in foot as a permanently disabled person it literally hurts to put us in a line of 15 miserable souls. Of course a boy of 16 tells me I have to wait like this. He never had pinched nerves. No accomodation and no common curtesy we need more cashiers. No brainer. So more than once I have to leave store and buy same stuff milk and bread at CVS they have cashiers available.

I loved the Target when I lived in Spokane, WA and it was my go to store. The Target in Capitola, CA where I now live is so much more than disappointing, I would never recommend it to anyone! Lots and lots of empty shelves. example: today, looking for a specific brand of mens underwear the only sizes available were XL, XXL and S. And very few of them. I needed a Medium. Even though I keep hoping, it is not worth the drive - ever!

Update: 1/3/21 I tried to submit a drive up order to avoid going in. I had 13 items all available through pickup in the app. I waited two hours and my whole entire order is conveniently out of stock. What a waste of time. I hate this store so much. This store is very unorganized and very lacking to say the least. I ve visited this store a few times and have left empty handed. I went there today in search of clothing for my toddler and they literally had 3 shirts in her size. Considering they are the only store in the area selling infant and toddler items you would think they would have more stock on hand. This time they didn t have any clothing, last time it was diapers and the time before that I had finally found an umbrella stroller in the whole city of Santa Cruz and after purchasing it, items in the box were missing. They need to improve their stock or put another target in the area.

My Pregnant wife asked for help. The women Said she d be there in a min she never came back. Then she asks 2 more times and each time they said they would send some one and if no one went they would go. No one showed up . So I asked my wife to leave since her back was hurting . Theres a good selection of so many items/varieties of goods in one place. The employees are nice and helpful. Prices are pretty good and I like the 5% customer loyalty discount.

This location continues to go downhill. Food is often expired and the selection of items is small. Items are typically out of stock as if staff do not inventory in the right way. The people working are seemingly confused most of the time, and cashiers act like theyre doing you a favor by having you in their line.

It was fast and easy. I ordered online the night before, and picked up the next day. I liked that I didnt have to necessarily have a set time to pick it up! I could pick up when it was convenient to me. I used my redcard, and that was easy too. I didnt wait long in line, and the woman was nice at checkout.

Cashier, I believe her name was Stephanie? Older lady. Was incredibly rude, and judgmental. -- She was looking at me and my husband (a construction worker) who had just gotten out of work w his work clothes on as if we had no money. AS WE WERE PAYING. Spent over $400 and she still managed to continue being rude. she snatched my own target bag out of my hand and said it wasnt mine. The bag was dirty and bent, so I took it from her and asked her to look at it again. She did not apologize for this behavior. She also made my husband pick up a 30lb dog food bag from the bottom of the cart instead of having him move the cart around to scan AS SHE IS TRAINED TO DO. -- My husband and I both worked for Target years ago and know the procedures. She is not a person you want representing the company. I am very upset over this. -- We go to Target regularly and this is the first time weve experienced something like this

This is--hands down--the BEST Target on the west coast. The service is utterly sublime. Everyone complaining over lack of product must be mistaken. The workers are always putting in loads of effort, but this location is probably just understaffed.

Everytime I go to to the Capitola store, I notice how friendly it feels. Ive had plenty of returns, and theyve all gone smoothly back to my RedCard. You seem to have everything we need!

I walked up to a register where three (yes 3) were standing I was immediately told register closed as they continued to laugh and talk. They did not guide me to the self check out. Disappointment!

Totally out of Easter candy... But they be got plenty of normal candy. Plenty of parking and decent people watching too.

Fast service and large selection

I hate this Target so much. Theres stuff laying on the floor and trash in the aisles. Something I need is always out of stock but there are carts of random items all over. The Starbucks has trash on the tables and over flowing in the bins. This is the only Target Ive been to where the items on the app rarely match the items in the store. Ive learned that if an item is out of stock, theres a good chance its in the back room if you have time to wait and can track down an employee. The line upstairs sometimes wraps around because its both the returns, online pickup, and check out for upstairs parking. The only reason I feel like it needs two stars instead of one is because some of the employees are really nice and try to help.

This is a nicely stocked, well-maintained, two story Target store. It also has a cart escalator, which is always a hit with my kids (and me too!).

Watsonville is a Mega store. Very clean with a Starbucks.
