Terrifying Experience – Stay Away from This Shop if You Value Your Life! Our car's engine warning light started flashing, but the vehicle seemed to run fine and we didn't notice any problems. To ensure everything was in good shape before a long Christmas road trip, we took the car to this shop for repairs. It’s important to note that just one month before, we spent over $2,000 on maintenance at this shop. This time, they charged us another $900 to “fix” the problem. However, disaster struck immediately after we picked up the car. Just after getting onto the 680 freeway, the car completely broke down in the middle of the highway. To make matters worse, even the emergency lights failed. Our entire family, including two young children, was stranded in an extremely dangerous situation with cars speeding past us. It was absolutely terrifying, and we feared for our lives. After this horrifying ordeal, we called the shop, but instead of taking responsibility or offering an apology, they tried to deflect blame. The shop owner’s response to this review is full of inaccuracies and outright false claims. For example: They claimed that we mentioned the car had stalled twice before bringing it in—this never happened. The car never stalled before the repairs. And if there were still safety concerns, we would never have gone on a long road trip with our whole family. They stated that we replaced both batteries at another shop—this is also untrue. We have trusted this shop for all our repairs and maintenance over the last three years. They claimed we declined to check the charging system—this was never clearly explained as a critical safety concern, nor were we warned that unresolved issues might cause the car to break down completely. In reality, we later took the car to the dealer for a full inspection, and the charging system has no problems. Instead, they charged us $900 for what they claimed was a fix, only for the car to fail catastrophically only after one hour we picked up the car—putting my family in grave danger. This was not just poor service; it was outright negligence. To anyone considering this shop: think twice. They prioritize making money over ensuring the safety of their customers. If you value your life and the lives of your loved ones, stay far away from this place. We deeply regret trusting them with our vehicle and will never return.
This is a well respected Volvo only shop. The local dealers even recognize them as being very good. I've been bringing my Volvos here for 30 years and have been very happy. Walter was there, even back then, using the microfiche to find part numbers for my 1973. You won't find better explanations of work needed or done, and won't find a more honest and fair manager than Walter.
I’ve owned Volvos for 10 years now. This is the first time I have found someone that I can completely trust. Walter and his team were very professional and informing. They are trustworthy and reliable. I will be taking my Volvos here, forever!
This place is wonderful! Being a women who sometimes feels intimated is always a problem when I need my car repaired. Walter and his team not only told me what I needed to get done but what could wait. They are friendly and efficient plus do great work. I found a car shop I can trust!
I just got my car back from it's 90K service at Swedish Volvo in Campbell. I can't be happier. I have been taking my car to a competitor after the factory warranty ran out. The service and prices at Swedish Volvo care is way better than my old place, and a 100% better than the dealership. Everyone at Swedish Volvo is kind and professional. Walter the owner went over everything that needed to be done, and gave me updated prices before he started anything. My car was back earlier than the time quoted. I will never take my Volvo to anyone else.
Swedish Volve Care is the best! I have been taking my wife's car XC90 to Walter and his crew for years and have never had a problem. We recently had an issue with the car's transmission. We called Swedish Volvo Care and they got us in the next day. Less than 24 hours my wife had her car back and it works great. Walter always gives us great service, and his prices are awesome. If you are looking for an honest shop with great service and prices to work on your Volvo, go to Swedish Volvo Care. They are the best!
I have been going to this place for the last 6 years. I have a very old Volvo XC90. Walter is very knowledgeable and caring person. He tackles the problem till it is resolved and informs you of the solution and the cost upfront. Knowing this type of cars are not cheap to fix, but at least Walter has made it running. Thank you for your service and honesty!
I am really glad I found this place. The service manager Walter is very friendly and he genuinely cares about the work that is done, a quality that is so hard to find these days! The price is super reasonable and you get a detailed itemization of all work done on your invoice, together with recommendations for future service. The place specializes in Volvo cars, so it is definitely my new go to place for the family Volvo. Thanks Walter!
Walter fixed my lemon
Trustworthy, reliable and accommodating. They know Volvos and are priced so much cheaper than dealerships. Highly recommend.
Long time customers. Walter is wonderful.
Takes too long
Bad management, tell WALTER TO STOP LYING TO THE CUSTOMERS!
Walter 8s thr most genuine mechanic I have ever met. Not in it to get rich, always just trying to take care of the customer. I will never go. 59 we another. Person for my vovlo.
Pretty hard to reach someone over the phone here, left my Volvo for visual/drive inspection, took 3days before i could here that my car was ready but kinda seemed like theyre too busy to want to work on my car,( I was told my cars was perfectly fine) i ended up doing myself, inner/outer tie rods, shocks, driveshaft center bearing, valve cover gasket, pcv oil system etc.. stuff i was willing to pay to get done here, but in the end i took my time and saved some $$. But Walter is very friendly and helpful
I brought my brothers car that had died on him and Walter was honest and very helpful. Oh definitely go to him if I had a Volvo.
I called Swedish Volvo Care for a second opinion on what I was being told by the Volvo dealer @ Stevens Creek regarding repair costs and general dealership shenanigans. In short, I wish Id never purchased those useless extended warrantee / protection plans things from the dealership, and instead could bring my Volvo XC90 here for servicing and repairs due to the honesty of people who work here, better prices and faster service.
Volvos arent the most common cars and with that comes even fewer mechanics who really know them well. Walter not only knows these cars well, but is incredibly honest about what you do/do not need. Also, if your a Volvo fan his parking lot is a great place to spot some incredible cars.
Walter is the greatest - Fair, honest and knowledgeable, and detailed
Walter is always super helpful and accommodating. Ive taken my V60 to Swedish Volvo multiple times, for a purchase/safety check, a weird fuel canister issue, and to replace the AC evaporator. Always top notch service. I highly recommend Walter and his team to provide technically competent and caring service.
Walther is a great guy.
This is a really good shop. Walter is very knowledgeable and he is more than glad to explain all the details to his clients. As long as we have our XC90 we will be bringing it here when work is needed.
Walter could have sold me a new everything A/C system, but wanted to check it out first and see what I actually needed, potentially saving hundreds.
Great service. Trustworthy.
Professional, thorough and fair.
They were honest and helpful. They even fixed my mirror for a price lower than what other places were quoting me
Hands down the best Volvo service shop in the Bay Area. Walter and his team are very skilled, thoughtful, and trustworthy. I know that here my S60 will be diagnosed and fixed properly, quickly and at a very reasonable price. I cant recommend them enough. Also, once I had an electrical problem that they couldnt fix and Walter sent me to the most incredible auto electrical guys ever (Total Auto Tech). I like knowing that, if needed, they will send me to someone equally great. Go here, they deserve your business.
Good shop. Terrible parking.
Very knowledgeable and helpful
First service leaving the dealership, and I should have done it sooner. Service was easy to schedule. Walter was great to work with and the work was reasonably prices. Will be back!
Walter takes care of you. He explains exactly what needs to be completed. The work is always first rate.
I have nothing but praise for these guys. They might charge more per hour than standard mechanics but there is NO SUBSTITUTE for having a specialist work on your car. They see Volvos day in and day out and they KNOW every single problem point and trouble area. The cheaper mechanic I was going to previously racked up hundreds in experimental maintenance that failed to fix two problems, so I took it to Swedish Auto Service instead. They knew exactly how to fix one problem and fixed the other one (an emissions error code) with a new gas cap. Seriously, a gas cap seal was causing a problem that had totally flummoxed my previous mechanic, and thanks to their experience they were able to solve it quickly and cheaply. To sum up, if you have a Volvo, bring it here for everything, oil changes included. Youll be glad you did.
Great service, highly knowledge, fair and honest.
I would not let anyone else touch my volvo. These guys are the best!!
They treat my mother-in-law and her car like royals!
Really happy I took my S60 here. Very knowledgeable about all the quirky things that happen to Volvos and Walter is really nice
Good service i.e took the time to explain the issue, fixed the issue promptly and at agreed price. Nice people
Highly recommend bringing your Volvo here! I had brought my S70 in for a brake light question & the gentleman actually took the time to understand the problem & literally got his hands dirty right then & there to fix the problem & explained to me what it is. He said he can offer to fix it but also wasnt pushy like others that want you to use their shop. I was in an accident with the car & he offered shops & companies that might carry the replacement parts I needed. Offered to pay him for the help & he said it was his pleasure & refused the money. (Left it anyways) but dont see that kind of service to often anymore! Thanks again
